I don't know how much I buy into this guy's "first hand look."  I did hear that the movies might be Bender heavy (not that big of a Bender man myself), but it's way too early for any spoilers.

And I'm sorry, but ...seymour?  Please.  I personally don't want to see him come back.  Having him meet up with Fry or something would just ruin the tearjerkyness of the Jurassic Bark episode.  Lazy writing...

I am however excited for these 4 movies.  Are each going to be 90 minutes long?

Agree completely with you about Seymour.

Jurassic Bark ending was probably the greatest ending I have ever seen, ever, way better than anything else, movie, tv shows or anything, and I don't want to see this ruined by a comeback of him...

Yeah, because they'll either have Seymour in one episode in an attempt to recreate Jurassic Bark, or they'll bring him back permanently, which would change the outcome of the show

There is so much more material out there in the Futurama universe that if they want to jerk the tears right out of us they don't need to go revisiting previous story lines.

I have too much respect for the writing team, and to see them do that...?  Geez, what has the world become?

Looks like we'll just have to wait a bit longer before any real spoilers surface on the internet.
And when is the first DVD movie supposed to hit anyway?  Summer of 2007?  Christmas of 2007?  I'm hoping for the former.

They don't have to resurrect him to have him make an appearance.  If there's time travel then he could show up in the past without cheapening the ending of Jurassic Bark.  For that matter he might just show up in a callback scene to the 20th century just like he did in Jurassic Bark.

I think it's too early to dismiss this as a complete fraud. There are references to the space God and Bender being featured heavily which MG talked about in the Onion interview and if it is a hoax then its certainly a clever one. I'm not saying it's completely genuine but I don't think it should be completely dismissed either.

Not that anybody asked me, but with the new eps/DVD, instead of having Fry constantly chase Leela and get rejected (yet again), turn it around and let Fry get a serious girlfriend and let Leela realise that he was the best friend she ever had and have her chase after him.

Yeah, I know, wrong forum.

What was described in that article sounded like a conglomeration of the series's main characters and unsolved story arcs, with a bit of The Time Bender trilogy and the 'Futurama' video game thrown in. I'd believe it more if there were mentions of the parallel universes and time travel coming later in the series of movies. I don't think DXC and whoever else may be working on it would willingly use all the best sci-fi twists in the very first '#!'.

(In Unix, '#!' is called a 'shebang'. I was saying, 'the very first shebang', as in 'the whole shebang'. It was kind of a pun, see...)

Because if you want to get a good reaction from the internets, you contact AICN. They've been the bitch of the industry since they gained popularity.

I've also noticed it being used to gauge fan reaction. The leaking of the terrible Jurassic Park 4 script at AICN ended up stopping it's onslaught dead in it's tracks. Even with Harry Knowle's gushing, it was so poorly recieved that they threw the script out.

EDIT: Remember, the movie will mirror some of the other more formulaic episodes. This means it could be intertwined with a whole bunch of flashbacks. Also there's mention of time travel. The whole thing is so vague it could be gleaned totally from comments made by MG and DXC over the years.

This is fantastic news!  I was getting curious as to how the project was going.  It seems that at least Billy's portion of the 4 Futurama's are done.  I am so excited.

But he's pretty much done voicing 4 of them?  Wow, that seems pretty fast for only a month an a half, but then again, the audio portion doesn't really take that long.

I cant wait to see the new episodes/films. Its about time they made some more rather than churning out the never ending roll of simpsons cartoons. Dont get me wrong i love the simpsons but its just not as fresh and funny as it used to be.
Futurama on the other hand has limitless possibilities and has very memorable characters.
Plus i love the whole world of tomorrow concept!

I just listened to Maurice LaMarche talk about the futurama movies on the Joe Cook Program.  He said that 4 of the new eps have been recorded and that they will be the first movie.  Most everyone from the original staff is back, and it sounds like Matt Groening is even more involved than he was in the production of some of the existing eps.  Also for us shippers, Mr. Lamarche said that at the end of the movie you'll shed a tear.  Unfortunately, he's signed a secrecy agreement preventing him from saying more...

If they're working on the first dvd movie now why are they waiting till xmas of 07 to release it? Doesn't that mean it'll be sitting on a shelf somewhere for a bunch of months?

I'm wondering the same thing...  Maybe they want to release the first one at xmas time to maximize sales.  The more of the first one that they sell, the more interest there'll be in the other three.

Y'know, I'm kinda wondering about that myself.  The source that I have is being very quiet about anything Futurama - this person says the security about the project is unreal and RDS will terminate any employee leaking any info about the show.  I only post what they give me permission to say, because I don't want a post to cost somebody their job.  All the voice actors have signed gag clauses - they can only speak about the project when RDS gives them permission and they are scripted in what they can say or face legal prosecution and pay heavy fines.

RDS does read this board - a lot of the stuff that is going into the project is based on the popularity of certain subjects discussed on PEEL (playing to the base, I guess).  They are forbidden to read fanfics because they don't want to be sued over plagerizing somebody else's ideas.

The last time I got an email from my source was two weeks ago - said person believes that the first DVD will be released a lot sooner than X-Mas 2007, but had no specifics.  The first DVD production and editing is suppose to completed by late October/early November of this year.  RDS fears that if the project is shelved too long, then there is the chance that a copy will make it to the bootleg market, then to the net, thus killing sales.  RDS really wants to push the DVD this X-Mas, but there's the problem with dealing with FOX (who owns the project) and other intricate tangibles.

So maybe we'll see it sooner than anticipated.

RDS and FOX are expecting to make a lot of money off this project - at this point I don't know if the 'leaked' script is disinformation or a trial balloon to get opinions.  My source hasn't answered my last e-mail (sent a week ago) - I asked if the leak was legit or not.  The tone of the last e-mail was that RDS is really being strict with the security issues (see Maurice LaMarce's interview - he admits to having signed a gag clause) and I think my source may be feeling a little of the heat.

Anyway, I asked if Sarge Morton was working on this and I got a "No Comment" for an answer.  Hopefully, Sarge will make an appearance on PEEL and share, but then with the tight security, he may be banned from posting at this point.

I'm new here, but I get the feeling that -marc- is pretty tight with some of the Futurama big chiefs - I wonder if he has gotten any info that he can share (of course this marriage thing may be getting in the way of the important stuff, like Futurama  ;) )

Anyway you look at it, it's going to be interesting seeing what FOX and RDS do about the release dates.  Remember that the last Star Wars movie was released on the net 3 weeks prior to it's theatrical run.  The longer the Futurama story stays on the shelf, the greater the risk that it will be pirated - even with the strictest security measures in place.

Also, nobody is saying when the next DVD recording session is taking place.  Another reason for an earlier release - to see how the new story arcs are taken by the fans.  The leaked script and LaMarche have already stated that the ending of the first DVD will be a tearjerker and the Fry/Leela romance will be explored and advanced.  I'm sure more nuggets of info will come out to keep interest and the 'buzz' going.

LaMarche states something that does make my source more credible - Groening is extremely involved with this story.  So involved that he has almost given up all control of The Simpsons to have more time to spend on this Futurama project.  Groening wants this to be perfect and to close old arcs and open new ones.  Groening wants a minimum of 30 episodes on CC, so in his eyes, a lot is riding on this project.

All in all, I think it's "Good news, everyone!"
