Good news: for (what I think is) the first time, Futurama will finally appear on Australian network TV! The ad just came on while I was watching the Simpsons on Channel Ten (I live in Sydney). It only said 'Coming soon'; I attempted a search on Ten's website, but Futurama isn't there yet, so I guess it will be appearing way next week or two.

I'm so elated - finally, Futurama has a chance to become famous again! Maybe soon I'll be able to hear people quoting from and discussing the latest Futurama episode, instead of the Simpsons or *erk* Family Guy.   :D

I just posted the same thing in "It's Got A TV". I shivered when I saw it.

Oh, I though someone would have posted it before me. Nothing gets through the PEELified net, nothing  ;)

When I saw Farnsworth appear on the screen, I thought it might be an ad for Monster Robot Maniac Fun. But this is, of course, infinitely better  :D

It started on Seven in early 2000, had a large break, then they showed all but the last two at around midnight in 2003.

..of course Fox 8 treated it well.

Hooray!  Maybe they'll show more than the same 5 episodes that Fox8 has been showing repeatedly lately.

(not that I'm complaining of course, but there's only so many times I can watch the Cryonic Woman before I get sick of it and decide to watch south park instead)

That is good news that its playing on TEN finally, they can play it in order instead of series 1 2 4 3 half of 5 then can it. then play re-runs, then can it again. fucking channel 7 fuck everything up, now TEN just has to buy stargate and I'll be happy.

Of course I have had the entire Futurama series in DivX format since it came out, and now I have the DVD's anyway so being on TV isn't really a biggy for me

What the hell are you talking about? Fox 8 have all 72 episodes of Futurama on daily rotation in broadcast order... I've never seen them just repeat 5 episodes over and over again. You must just be coming across the same episodes when you tune in... unlucky. Then again, nothing to not be expected, given that 72 episodes really isn't enough for a daily rotation (though it's not as bad as The Comedy Channel having Family Guy on daily rotation with 48 episodes).

One thing about that article that pissed me off, though. They called Futurama a Simpsons spin-off. What the fuck? They're two seperate shows in two different universes. Just because it's by the same creator doesn't make it a spin-off. Fucking idiots.

Because they only know Simpsons and dont know Futurama so will think any Greoning cartoon is going to a spin off to Simpsons because the Simpsons have gone past being overrated and whored out in every aspect I can think off.

They'll probably do what they did when Futurama came on in the beginning, play it at prime time for a few episodes, then shove it back to 11:30 after re-runs of Australian Idol or something... then no one will watch it.... :'(

even though i have them all on dvd i don't watch them often now but now i can watch it every night.
The rest of the country who did'ent buy dvd's can enjoy watching this wonderful show.
Some extra dvds might be purchased too.
this is a sign futurama is not dead for ever

Wouldn't they have to play it at 7:00pm or later? If they play it before then on weekdays, they'd have to censor it down to a G rating.

I dont think they would. There are a few episodes of the Simpsons where the word "bitch" came in, and that was at 6pm.

They still censor the 6pm Simpsons down a lot. When I watch the episodes on DVD/Foxtel, I'm constantly finding scenes or lines that were cut from the 6pm version - usually the more sexually explicit jokes.

I really don't think they can (or should) cut enough episodes down to a G rating, they'd be better off putting it on at 7:00pm where they can get away with a PG rating... assuming it'll have a daily slot, of course. I heard somewhere it might just be on Wednesdays and Fridays, meaning it'd probably have a 7:30pm timeslot.

I remember a line where grandpa simpsone said: "Are you talking about sex? I had sex." And one time, I remember, i went "Here comes a funny bit" but it got cut...those bastards.

Neighbours isn't on during the non-ratings season, is it? If so, I'm tipping 6.30 Futurama after 6.00 Simpsons.

Otherwise, it may be on as Beamer said on Wednesdays and/or Fridays starting somwhere between 7 and 8.

All those crappy American sitcoms were on Channel 7. If Channel 10 don't put Futurama on at 7:00pm, that slot will either remain Raymond's, or might be used for more Simpsons or Seinfeld, since those are the only shows that have really been successful in that slot.

I'm hoping Futurama's not on at 6:30pm, that means a watered-down G-rated version.

That says that Futurama will be starting on the 30th of November at 8pm. Its about time too cus even though channel 7 had the rights for Futurama, they never played it, and even when they did it was at like, 11pm which was kinda late for me :S

You're probably right, but I reckon Futurama's best  chance of popularity here will come if it's shown directly after The Simpsons... 8:30 Tuesdays or something would be nice, but probably too much to ask for.

Aren't most episodes of Futurama rated about PG? Cus I mean there are a few jokes in there that wouldnt be understood by the younger crowd.

All the DVD box sets are rated PG I think- there's really not too much 'offensive' stuff in there, but the G-rated timeslots can be very restrictive unfortunately.
