The PEELies 2009: It's gonna be reeeeeeeal fresh!

Howdy folks! It's that time of year again to start discussing our cult's annual ritual (Oh wait... nope, that's about right. Destrike that.), THE PEELIES!

I'm willing to take on the reins as Fearless Leader this year s'il n'y a pas d'objections. Last year's council was 10, I think we should keep it around that number again this year. If you want to volunteer for the council, post in here. I'd like a nice mix of experienced old PEELers and fresh-faced youngsters, kind of like it felt last year.

If I remember correctly, last year the council decided how many categories there would be. Two years ago we had 40, last year was 17, I'd personally like to keep it near 20-25 so it doesn't feel over-saturate. Thoughts?

And new category suggestions would be appreciated! Post them in here. Or if you want the return of an old category (Best Comeback? Most baddest Engrish?) post them in here too.

PEELey award with a name so long, that not upon half within its title do you realise that this category does not actually supply any form of system for which to assign, nominated and award people for, but rather for the obscurity of a category with a name longer than all the other awards combined

funny you should mention it... my first (and last) virtual relationship, I was 13, claiming to be 16, with a girl who was 22, also claiming to be 16. She thought I was actually some creepy old guy just pretending to be only 16 in order to lure teenage girls into my web. She was very wrong.

Just a suggestion that the council avoid too many negative awards. Even when it's all meant the be fun, feelings can be hurt. 

Also, how about the most redundant PEELer?

Agreed, filthy. I've always objected to the negative awards in general myself, even if you put aside the possibility of hurt feelings, why would we want to reward people for negative behavior in the first place?

They can also hurt by exclusion, you know.  Consider the case of a fictional jerk, we'll call him "Joe Bear".  If everyone is getting an award for the piddly little things they do while posting on PEEL, but he's not being recognized for his random weirdness, he may feel more compelled to be more of a turd to get noticed.
