Well since Winna is posting secret messages, I'll take the time to write something we can see.

Because of how we did things last year, with user suggestions and nominations, we should be starting this fairly soon.  If any of these council members would like to return to the job, please state so here.  Any other people wishing to join the council, please also submit your request.  

I do ask that if you would like to join the council, that you make the time for it.  As the other council members know, there were a couple of council members from the Peelies 2007 who, for whatever reason, did not seem to have the time to be an active part of the group.  That is one of the reasons things got done so slowly.  

With that said, I would still like to be a council member.

Lots of emails, secret forum business, writing, etc etc... nothing out of the usual, but it helps if you have some fresh ideas and are willing to put in the time to be around to work out the peelies.

Oh, agree. I was on the first and most undiplomatic council. I don't think I could go back there and do as little work as I did with all of today's liberal policy.

Lol.  It's some time.... what Ninaka said is true... but one or two people can do the bruntwork.  Also, I have the building material from last year's site, if the new head of council wants it.

Things that took a lot of time were counting the noms (took at least a week), counting the votes (took at least a couple of days, I didn't do it), and making the website (like I said, I have all the old stuff, and I'd be willing to help). 

Other than that.... council members have to be able to come to a consensus... and then they have to do write-ups about the award and/or the winner.

With a pro-active council, you could hypothetically do it in a week... and as rach pointed out, you could switch over the voting process to blind polls... but if we do the nominations democratically, those would have to be done via email.  I personally like the more democratic version.  I don't know about a secret council board on PEEL... you'd have to talk to mArc, but I'm sure the software supports it.  It's not that hard to make a secret forum though.... and actually, if anyone is interested, the link to the last one could actually be found on the PEELies site.  That was the last secret for anyone to find... it's on the html version if you feel like going hunting.

Lastly, I'll throw my hat in for this year's council.  After a little more discussion we can figure out what the council will be....

I think that might work with the nominations, but when it comes to the final voting, I think its best done on private email.  Mostly because then it can be presented to everyone in a cool way rather than opening the pool and seeing it. 

It should really be considered for the nominations though, those were hell to count.

Can you make it so the poll doesn't show the results?  The nominations can't be done through poll... but they could be done in a thread.... however... you'd have a lot of threads for each award.... or it'd be confusing.... although maybe not....  things to think about for the council anyways.

I made this thread primarily to build the council anyways.... cause that's always the first step.

Only thanks to giving winna sexual favours. Though I was both unable and unwilling to actually help so my appearance was merely making up the equality numbers as an oppressed hetrosexual white European male. We're overlooked for everything.

So I'll concur that having some time and having fresh ideas and enthusiasm and a willingness to beat people into a shape is all helpful for running the PEELies. Also rigging the votes so win something. Even most boring. An award's an award.
