Yeah, so since we've all been slightly talking about it lately, why not start up on thoughts of a committee?  Let's make 2005 a nice awards, possibly bringing back some old favorites and making some new ones, I've gone to the trouble to link up all the previous existing Awards Ceremonies:

I'd like to nominate Winna for the "full of delicious Spam" award, since Winna is the new name for testing. Brand association, baby!

I'd like to nominate Nerd-o-rama for most deserving of a PEELie. Fuck yeah!

TheLampIncident should be up for winning "Expected back any day now".

Slimmy should be voted Best PEELer Ever if the board has any sense of decency.

I should win a small award for the most casual use of the word "fuck" in a serious post.

I'm wanting SiliconFury to win best newcomer... and that's all I can think of for now.

I found that Wombles of Wimbledon Common thing while digging through one of the hard drives in my computer crap bin.  It is, in fact, not dead.

Edit: Sweet daughter of Jesus.  This drive's got "Masturbate!" too.  Also the blue thing, the dancing banana, and Mr. Nice.  So many things that have no right to exist, and yet have survived entropy's best efforts . . . . .

Also, this thread wasn't created so that people could start suggesting awards that they would automatically qualify for (sorry guys  ), but more for people with drive to realize that there is now a want for the yearly festivities.  At the same time might I add that the committee actually decides who gets nominated and what categories will be available.  You can all keep going on with your random "what should the next award be, cause maybe I'd get nominated for that", I just wanted to say that this thread is actually semi-serious in subject matter, so that maybe we can get a serious head-start on the awards (knowing how long they actually take).

I think what winna is trying tell us that some of us here should get their heads together (well, sort of) and form a committee that should run the 2005 PEELie.

Why should we look for the members in November, when we can piece them together now?  People have lives, and this process takes quite awhile.  I think that 2 months is a pretty good range, to decide who the committee members will be... what categories will be there.... and who will be up for the vote.  As well as giving ample time for the vote, and tallying up those votes.  After all the biggest window should probably be the voting, so that we get a good measure of them in

Actually, I couldn't. As you notice the posts are from several[/i] forums, not just one. In addition, I feel that it would be too demanding to force people to click several links and try to make sense of all the different posts and their dates. Thus I made it into a condensed, easier (notice i'm not claiming it to be easy, just easier) to read form. It gets right down to business. This is true; Ninaka made 3 posts in Offtopic Discussion from 11-06-2004 to 11-17 2004  2 on 4-17 2005. But I digress. That earlier post wasn't meant to "bash" Ninaka if you will, in actuality its main focus it not about her, sorry for confusing you. It is about a comment implied that someone left PEEL and I didn't even though we exhibit similar posting statistics. I was only showing the stats to prove that either we both left PEEL or no one left PEEL, since we are basically similar in posting. It is quite useless without the other side of the coin though, right? Of 316 posts saved in Offtopic Discussion (where I concentrate most of my posts) with 11-2-2002 being the earliest post saved (but obviously not the first post ever made), 117 of them were after May 2005. In General Discussion (my second most frequented forum), I made no posts from 11-20-2004 to 5-18-2005.  I made a total of 4 posts from January 2004 to beginning of June 2004. So as you can see, there are some definite gaps in my posting record as well.

Randi, why on earth are you getting so bent out of shape about this?? It was just a voting suggestion, you didn't have write a bloody thesis proving it wrong. Honestly, it doesn't really matter at all. Are you just doing this so that someone else can recommend you for the PEELie? IF yes, then here. Randi for best comeback. Done.

And.. to my defense, they were *random* posts while I was gone. If you go in and notice in those threads, I'm sure there weren't more than one or two posts... I remember distinctly only coming onto peel to say "HEY dont' forget me! I'm here, I'm alive! Hi everyone!".. and then leave again. I was literally AWAY from the world for a while, that's all I got.

Who cares anyway? I never did. Can we let this go? Enough essays for one day. I had no idea me going away and seeing the world would was so hard!
