Title: Name That Tune!

The thread inspired by a contagious gameshow...

I (or anyone else who wants to join) plays a tune with any instrument they know how to play, puts it online by some means, and links it here and people have to try to guess what song it is.

Unlike Name Those Lyrics, you cannot easily cheat (GOOGLE) in this thread.

But be fair, make it a tune that's at least semi-known, not some riff you made up yourself.

Yes, I know this thread is going to be very short-lived, but hey, I was bored.

I'm going to start you off with a very easy one!  If you can't name it:  1. You shouldn't be on this message board, or 2: I really really suck at playing guitar.

That was easy.

You could hum a tune if you can't play an instrument - obviously not without a microphone though... I have a microphone but no webspace (and no pressing desire to get any!).

My suggestion would be to use a snatch of a popular MP3 song, maybe the intro.

That's what I'd do.  Otherwise I'm with Spiffy.

And Mel, there are several willing hosters who could host a file for you.

Is it the Happy Birthday song? Did you know Michael Jackson had the rights to that at one point?

I'm with Spiff here too. I only know how to play drums, and even if I did manage to play a coherant tune, there would only be like 3 PEELers invloved (me, melllvar and the spiff). Plus I can't get my PC mic downstairs.

I thought about making the thread "Name that beat" where I post a drum chart and see if ANYONE can work out what it is...
EDIT: When I was down at the dotmusic forums I made a game where I took a snatch from a song like you hear on the radio, but made it either REALLY short, or put loads of white noise over the top. Twas funny for a while. May do that again... if I do, they wont be rock songs though. It will all be ultra cheesy pop!

I would host it for you MelBee if I have to upload it just like a picture.  I wouldn't mind.  I don't have much on my netfirms account.  I'm sure someone will tell me if that's not how you upload it so have at it, by all means.

Here's another!

Before you listen to this... I'll tell you that the guitar I'm using is very very cheap, and has very very dull strings.  Strings that rattle annoyingly on the frets when you get close to the belly of the guitar.  So this one won't sound right as it's low on the fret board.

I may not have been on PEEL for 2 years, but I reserved that avatar! You can't just take that away from me, except you just did. Plus because of this, everyone is still having to put up with the pain of me and aslate matching avatar confusion.   :p

Well, I made another, but decided that it was way too simple, so I stopped after the 5th note, just like they did on the gameshow.  It's still very very very easy.  We'll see who types faster.
