I'm tired of only having a measly two thousand Nixorbucks and one thousand Gopher Dollars. I'm also tired of there being nothing to spend these on.
I'm looking to use my stocks of Nixorbucks, Gopher Dollars, and totalpenceuk to purchase things to put in my signature.
Make me an offer I can't refuse.
There is a limited stock of totalpenceuk... these are not to be re-minted if and when I ever run out. The total value of all totalpenceuk in circulation can never exceed one hundred thousand. I currently own all the totalpenceuk, but am willing to trade them for Nixorbucks, Gopher Dollars, and other PEEL fake currencies, as well as other amusing things to add to my sig block.
As trading occurs, an exchange rate will naturally establish itself, leading the way for others to bring their own currencies to the marketplace, to be judged worthwhile or worthless as the community sees fit.
Interested? Then what will you give me for 10 Nixorbucks?

What will you give me for 10 totalpenceuk?

At least a few tens of billions have been destyoed by various methods in my quest for the cheapest way to safely and efficiently dispose of them.
And the so-called "cancer cluster" in the surrounding area has absolutely nothing to do with this factory. It is a meaningless coincidence, the kids are probably getting cancer from television or video games. Or second hand smoke! Yeah, second-hand smoke.
I'm open to offers for the whole warehouse.

I don't like fake currency... or posting for that matter.... but considering yours may possibly be dangerous... and you seem insistent to get it off your hands. I wonder what the exchange rate would be if I set up my own currency. It'd be titled something like The Mad Peso or Mad Rupee. Or maybe The Capazoid.
To prevent overinflation, the amount in circulation would be directly linked to my own post count. 1 monetary unit per post. So that means I'd start out minting 8,336 of them, and mint about 20 more per month, give or take however many posts I actually make.
Not that I intend to do so. Just scratching my head.

TMC: Depends on how much you mint and what sorts of exchanges are made initially. If you mint a lot with not much backing it, the value of the money will be low. If you mint a low number with a lot backing it, the value of the money will be high. Look at previous transactions at WikiPEELia also. It shows some trades people have made and exchange rates for currencies to make sure you're getting a good deal.
Speaking of the Wiki Transactions Log, can somembody check over my math in the chart to make sure those transfer numbers are correct? I think I might've made some mistakes when trying to find the exchange rates.

Weinie, look at my post. I came up with a system for minting it that I feel allows everyone to be happy.
1 - It allows me to start out minting a fair number. 8300 is a good starting point. Unlike minting a trillion dollars as seen before in this thread.
2 - It won't depreciate rapidly due to overproduction. New money can be minted, but never at a prodigious rate. It's taken me almost 7 years to hit 8300 posts, and I've slowed down as the board's slowed down over the past few years. Whereas Nix could wake up tomorrow and decide to print off a million Nixorbucks. Ditto for any of the other currencies I've seen in this thread, aside from TNUKpence.

I added a row at the bottom for Decadollars, using the exchange rate he used to calculate each value in his column. I have no idea if he pulled these numbers out of his ass or not, and I'm not going to bother to check because I was really only fixing coding errors. TNUK can take a look at it later and correct any errors with the exchange rate itself.

Also, great symbol. Ψ ! Now I'm off to make a few changes to the currency exchange wiki page on account of the fact that exchange rates now appear to be stabilising.
I'll be setting a few standards in place, which will remain fixed for "major" currencies which are worth more against the Nixorbuck and loose for "minor" currencies so that they exchange rates have a chance to stabilise in the future. You'll see what I mean once the changes are done.

To set it straight:
Mookie, you've got 1 Jibuck. 1 Jibuck is worth 10 mookies. Which means there are 330 Jibucks to the Nixorbuck and therefore 1540 idnar to the Nixorbuck.
Nothing can be worth more than a Nixorbuck.
Jicannon, you need to post a total amount for the Jibucks that will be minted. I'm going to use 1,000,000 as a placeholder.

I can replace these easily enough. I now have a spreadsheet with various facts and figures available to me as a result. All I have to do is alter one or two columns and the figures all shift to reflect the changes.

That's the last time that anybody sets a global total without consulting the formula laid out in the PEEL Mint (http://www.splitmonkeys.de/wiki/index.php/PEEL_Mint).
i) PEELers wishing to mint currency must check the following:
iA) That the total amount of their currency which has already been minted is not already greater than their post count multiplied by the number of PEELiversaries that they have celebrated, added to the total number of Nixorbucks in circulation. If the total amount minted is greater than this amount already, then no more currency can be minted.
iB) That the value of their currency against the Nixorbuck is higher than at least two other currencies. If this is not the case, no more currency can be minted.
I shall update my spreadsheet accordingly.

I have also updated Jicannon (http://www.splitmonkeys.de/wiki/index.php/Jicannon)'s page on the wiki, with a short block of text attempting to explain why it is "Jicannon's Law" that all PEEL currency can be minted in integers only, rather than it being "common sense".

Your special-edition Thulium and Thallium Zoids will likely just fuck my not-very-sophisticated exchange model in the arse, so you'll just have to be content with 50,000 regular Zoids.
You can safely assume that the Zoid-for-tpUK exchange rate reflects the value of the Zoid versus the rest of the currency chart.

Hooray! That's equal one-third of a Golden Weinsar I received! I'm so happy that I learned some basics of Wiki editing!
I calculated that I've actually minted about 8,000 GW less than I could've, based on the Mint regulations. Just means the Golden Weinsar is more valuable than I previously thought! And, now that I know about this, I don't see myself minting any more in the near future.

To date, i_C is the only one who has filled in both currency tables in the Currency Exchange and the PEEL Mint articles following the exact same formula/format that they were begun with.
I'll begin adding more people into the tables when I can find a few moments to do so. Eventually, all the details on there should be correct.

There are 330 Jibucks to the Nixorbuck.
There are 2 Golden Weinsars to the Nixorbuck.
Therefore there are 330 Jibucks to 2 Weinsars.
Which equates to an exchange rate of 165 Jibucks to 1 Golden Weinsar.
The Currency Exchange (http://www.splitmonkeys.de/wiki/index.php/Currency_Exchange) spreadsheet should be used to comute such transactions.
If you want to try and bring your exchange rate into a more favbourable position, try offering only 150, or 145 Jibucks for a Weinsar, and see if weiner accepts. Of course, this would contribute to the devaluing of the Weinsar, but you might get lucky.

Wooter, according to Mint regulations, 26894 is the maximum number of Wooter Credits that can be dumped into circulation at the moment.
The Mint regulations state that a PEELer must only mint currency when they have less than (post count * PEEELiversaries celebated) + Nixorbucks circulating.
If you do not bring your currency in line with Mint regulations, it will not be recognised by the mint, and therefore no official exchange rate can apply. Your currency will be effectively worthless, and nobody will want to be tainted by its presence.

It's not possible to "upload an MSXL spreadsheet" onto a Wiki, but there is a way to make a chart on Wiki, such as the one on the Currency Exchange page for PEELer wealth and the one on the PEEL Mint page for currency information.

Charts don't do the maths for you. I like spreadsheets because all you have to know is what you want added to what and divided by whatever. The computer does the hard work of adding them and dividing by the other one. Charts suck whatever cocks are to them as they are to spreadsheets.

I would be interested in a relaunch. Just as long as the i_c_weiner Collective's Golden Weinar, the bill made of pure gold*, continues to be the second best currency in the land, behind the all-mighty Nixorbuck. Kind of like the Canadian dollar, or the Japanese yen.
*When we say "gold", the ICWC means it is an alloy of 32% gold, 30% copper, 15% silver, 14% dolemite, and 9% ununoctium.

Sure. Why not. There will be new rules though.
1) Name your currency and pick a symbol or designation, eg: N$ or TPUK.
2) Your currency will be minted in one batch, as soon as you name it. The number of units will be equal to half of your post count added to the total number of Nixorbucks minted at that time.
3) Making a sample picture of your currency is strongly approved of.
4) Due to the devaluing of the US Dollar, the Nixorbuck will be presumed to have devalued as well. Now, it will be possible for a currency to be worth more than a Nixorbuck. As you will all be minting more units than there are Nixorbucks, this will not happen until Nix mints way more units. He's the only guy who can mint more than his initial run.
5) You may mint one unit of your currency for special occasions. It will not be released into circulation. It exists purely to make you happy.
6) Making actual physical "money" is also encouraged. You could post it to PEELers whom you particularly like (or hate, in the case of the radioactive Gopher Dollar).
7) BirthdayClown cannot play. He is not recognised by the mint.
8) I'm running this. If I say something, it's true. Don't argue. I'm trying to keep it playable, bitches.
9) You will be responsible for logging currency transactions on the wiki. Currency transactions must be approved before they can be logged. This means that all affected or involved parties must agree.
10) The previous game's contents and transactions will be ignored. Think of this as a re-launch in the sense of Batman Begins. Therefore, please read the rules, try not to contradict them, and don't get upset when I say that something can't be true if it contradicts any of them.
If anybody is interested, then just name your currency and state your post count to begin. In the following format, please:
TotalpenceUK (TPUK) 10907
That's currency name in bold, designation in brackets, and your post count at the time. Anything not in that format will not be recognised when the mint opens again in a few days time. If you screw up, re-post rather than editing, as edited posts containing that information will be ignored. See if you can figure out why, geniuses.
By the way, to date 24,300 have been minted.
Therefore the total number of TotalpenceUK in the PEELconomy will be 10907 + 24300
This comes to 35207.

I'm confused with something, TNUK. You had 10907 posts at the time of the founding of the TotalpenceUK. There were 22100 Nixorbucks at the time of the TPUK's founding. Thus, half your posts (5453.5) plus the total Nixorbucks at the time of founding (22100) is 27553.5. Explain your mathematics, or should I say mathemagic? Hmmm? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

I'll consider joining the mint community after I've thought long and hard about the rules and how to best go about following them; as well as possibly creating infrastructure for my new monetary presence (pictures etc.).
Hmmm... just a suggestion here, not trying to usurp your role as head treasurer or anything tnuk... but ummm... Wouldn't it be influential to add maybe one or two more variables into total first run (only run) production of moneys? Say... half your post count times half the number of years you've been on PEEL? It might be too complicated, but it adds another layer and makes some sense from a real world standpoint: older banks usually have more stability and presence in the market, no?

I was planning on featuring PEEL currencies as representation for the score in my upcoming PEEL game (working title is currently
PEELer Kombat), and I think it would be beneficial to all parties if interest were renewed in the PEEL Mint.
For my game, I plan on having an option that allows the user to represent the score in many different well established PEEL currencies, as they choose. Since the exchange rate of all PEEL currencies were originally based on the Nixorbuck, I would make the score and the default representation be in Nixorbucks, and other currencies the user might choose would be represented off that.
In order to implement such an option (which I know is mostly just for show and just to inject more PEEL into the game atmosphere) I would want permission to use well established currencies as well as 3 other things.
Those 3 things being:
- The name of the currency.
- The symbol representation of the currency.
- The rate exchange of the currency in respect to the Nixorbuck... preferably in a fractional representation.
So far, I've got these resources to utilize:

More about the Mint itself... I've talked to a few PEELers who originally participated in the game, and they've expressed interest in playing again. I'm proposing that the PEEL Mint wiki article be unlocked and people allowed to play again. I know this was originally tnuk's pet and he wanted to be very strict about the rules so as to make everything accurate. If I were to implement the option in my PEEL game that I mentioned above, I would also strive to maintain accuracy where possible, and in order to do that I might need an updated version of one of those tables, with clearly established currencies being represented.

Everyone note that I've reformatted the pages to reflect the fact that this is a complete reboot as tnuk has specified, and as a side effect everyone has lost their previous holdings. Also, tnuk has Nx$2,000 again, which is what he had before he originally started this thread. If I've misunderstood something, and it turns out he actually lost his Nixorbucks in some other manner of which I am not aware, let me know and I'll correct it.

And I can't remember what the new rules are, but as a suggestion I would say it's very simple to set up the economy so that all other currencies were based off the Nixorbuck.... preferably in simple fractions.

The amount of your currency equals half your post count when you minted it plus the number of Nixorbucks in circulation at the same time. (Nx$24,300, tnuk says on the previous page, but Nx$22,100 says i_c_weiner and the wiki... I've already gone with 24,300 for everyone, but I can fix it if there are objections.)
