New test thread. Yeah, yeah, crappy title. I like the idea of naming them after winna. I'm tired. Leave me alone.
-
And you edited the first post too.
-
I'll edit you...
-
I'm tired too... I stayed up all last night watching X-Files. I fell asleep on the floor during one of my all time favorites: The one with the school faculty members who are part of some satanic cult... and then satan actually comes and is a substitute biology teacher. That episode was great, lucky for me I remember the episode so well, it's not that horrible that I fell asleep during it. In fact I remember seeing it for the first time one late Friday night.... needless to say it was a really good episode. The name is Die Hand Die, I believe if you wanna check it out. Probably circa season 3, a '95 episode.
-
I stayed up playing Halo 2. It turns out video games actually are a bad influence on us. After playing for several hours and then finishing with an hour-long game of Slayer, I went home and on my way there a car came over the hill and my first instinct was to accelerate towards it and hit it head-on. Luckily there was a turning lane in between us because I actually did steer my car a little towards the other before I realized I was in real life again.
-
I spent the whole night talking to my girlfriend, and unlocking Cloud in Final Fantasy Tactics. Good stuff. He's weak as hell, though. Then I had to get up early this morning(6:45) cause my ride left 2 hours eariler than usual. I managed to get 2 hours sleep in the librairy to compensate, but it's not the same.

I like to add things I leave out the first time. You suck!

The thread titles weren't this bad when Nurdy made them :)
I never thought I'd say that

Season 2, "Die Hand Die Verletz" (The Hand that wounds).
I have no idea how I know that.
-
You're good Sammy... I bow down to your X-Files mastery. I never learned the episode names like I did with Futurama because I was so young back then... but I remember all the episodes. I just happened to have done the info on the episode last night and remember part of the episode name :)
-
I too was a victim of staying up all night, in this case talking to the boyfriend. The things you do for love...
I would like to share my disgust about the trickery that my dining hall plays. Today I bit into a cookie that sure as hell looked like peanut butter, but turned out to be macedemia nut and butterscotch chips... Ugh...

I stayed up late the last two nights, 6 hours sleep in total.
Thank the Great Green Arkleseisure I have 5 days off for St. Paddys festivallle.
Mmmmmm.... 5 days.... (http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/sabber3.gif)

Hah!
Nice title newhook_1. :laff:
-
Berges, as I've said before, you're a lucky man. Unless Kloudes is the one who kept you up all night like my girlfriend has done. I'm not complaining, though.
And Zmithy: Um, mossy slime? Where'd she get...you know what, I don't want to know.

I went to hot topic for the first time in, like a year, I hate emos... anyway, I saw these two awesome south park goths shirts, but I'm pretty sure they were chick shirts, damn...

-
Wooter, come on. Quit making single people look bad. If you really have resentment, just say your "fuck 'ems" silently.
-
Today in Chem, my teacher said Whoopwhoop...
-
It seems like a lot of people on peel have been staying up watching series or playing video games. I have been going to bed at 4am in the morning for the last few days watching Roswell and movies with my husband who has been on a break from work.
-
I stayed up until 4am playing Dungeon Keeper the other day, then want to bed. Not to sleep, no no, but to watch a couple of episodes of Futurama... a nifty combo.
@Sammy: So is mine. Draw!
@GPT: Chick shirts? Don't you know that they are totallu comfy to wear (unless you get it a size too small. Then it'll climb and look pretty pansy). I have three or four girlie shirts, and they're pretty much the best ones I ever had.

Yeah, Dungeon Master's get all the chicks.

What? Dungeon Keeper 2? Futurama? Staying up late? My girlfriend (how dare you refer to her as "that"!)? Girlie shirts?
-
Sure mint, Roswell is good. BUT X-Files is better! ;)
-
I used to watch the X-Files on basic cable when I was ten...
-
Hey, Winna... The darndest thing: Die Hand Due Verletzt is on right now on Danish TV... Spooo-kay...

OMG!@11 That's a really good episode btw :D

Cut him some slack. He's from Newfoundland. They're not well known for good ideas.

What's that supposed to mean mint? I said I liked Roswell too... but you're badmouthing X-Files. Calling it "hor ror" or whatever that french/japanese speak it is you're saying! I'm outraged. X-Files is awesome... What... is Agent Fox Mulder not manly enough for you? Or is Agent Scully's skirt not short enough (sure I know it could be shorter)? C'mon mint, X-Files is awesome. It's downright comedic... and I get a fuzzy feeling when I watch it...... in my penis... cause my hand is rubbing it so much....

Why does she need a skirt at all :flirt: :p
-
Cause it keeps her from getting cold. :flirt:
-
You know what's awesome?
A 700MB file of Tom & Jerry cartoons, one hour and 35 mins of pure cat and mouse shenanigans.
And there's 9 other files on the internet like it.
I have a Quest: every T&J episode on 2 DVDs.
-
I've got almost every episode on 2 DVDs...2 DVD collectors box sets that is ;)
I would get the 3rd installment, but its all the newer ones, and the Fred Quimby ones are waaaay better. So I think I'll stick to the 2 I have already :)
-
Is that the Greatest Chases one?
There's 114 episodes of T&J altogether.
I need a backup plan of course! ;)

What I meant by that was simply the genres of the series. There are lots of scary, eerie, thrilling sceneries in “The X files”, that’s all, I did not intend for any negative connotations.
As for the attraction of the actors, I like Jason Behr better, I think he is cuter and my husband likes Katherine Heigl, and Shiri Applegate. He also likes Gillian Anderson from the X-files. But unlike me he watches a lot of Horror/Thriller/Science Fiction series or movies, where as I prefer Adventure/Comedy/Drama/Martial Arts/Animation series or movies. I hope this clears up your misinterpretation.
Roswell just so happens to be a series that we both enjoy because it fits within the genres of what we like when it comes to films/series. And the beauty is within the eye of the beholder, this I mean in the attractiveness of people and productions.
-
A few weeks ago, Bender, my hamster, had a stroke. She just died an hour ago. We put her in the recylcing bin because it's too cold to bury her, and apparently you can do that.
I know hamsters (especially dwarf hamsters) are the disposable lighter of all pets, but I'm still pretty upset. Atleast her suffering is over.

Nah, I got these 2 DVDs. The Collectors Edition 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 :)

Also, YLB, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your hamster. I understand how it feels. I've had quite a few in the past and I get very attached. Its heartbreaking when they finally pass away.
I know its hard, but I hope you'll be ok in the circumstances :)
-
Sorry to hear about your hamster, Bologna. My girlfriend's cat died a couple weeks ago, but she (the cat) was due. She (again the cat) was 16 and weighed about six or seven pounds.
Also, my grandmother had a stroke going on two years ago, but I'll stop this stroy before I depress myself.
-
My cat is humngous! It's like a billion pounds... Me and Nasty wrote a song about it a while back, but I forget most of it...

Google reveals that they're a HMV exclusive, no wonder I couldn't find them on Play.com, all they have is volumes 1-6, costing about €85 for all of them together. :hmpf:
And I agree, the Quimby, Hanna and Barbera ones were the best, they had Toms awesome "AAUUUUUWWWWWWWWWW!!!" scream.

Aah right I see. Both my DVD sets were presents, so I didn't realise they were a HMV exclusive.
But it would explain why I couldn't find a pic on Amazon and why I had to take a photo instead :)
-
I'm sorry YLB. :(
I'd just like to say that I love English weather. I know I complain about it when it's bloody freezing in mid-winter, but there's nothing better than the week in March when you've just had a crappy windy February and then it starts getting sunny, and warm and you just feel all . I love spring/summer! *frolics*
-
Cat! How was Chester?
Glad to hear you're having nice weather, i'm still stuck in Lancaster, where weather comes to die.
-
Sammeh!
T'was grand! But did you know that they've changed laser quest to quasar?! You have bright orange or green packs now! Plus, there were some regulars who were 25 years old. And we thought we were immature. 0_o
It was sunny though, and I <3 Est Est Est. And Chester too. It'd be a great place for a load of random people off the internet to meet up in. *hint hint*

Pets dying are a common thing. Over the years my mother in law has had something like 9 cats, 5 dogs, and cage full of birds...etc. You may wonder why so many pets, well cos they die often from time to time so a lot of replacement is needed, mostly from car accidents. When they died she was sad and buried them in her backyard.
She only have one cat at the moment, I am told she is the cleverest one so she survives longer than the rest. That cat likes to sit on the chair, and climb on the dinner table.
One time we went over there for dinner the cat is sniffing the raclettes (French Alps Area’s cheese) and the dried meat. My father in law scolded the cat and it jumped down and ran off to the kitchen. :laff:

Hey GFF I was wondering, would you be able to make one of your infamous dancing gifs of Zoidberg from I Dated A Robot, you know when he does his "claw" thing....?
That would be awesome....awesome to the max....!
-
Let me check if that is possible, and then also have some more free time (hopefully next week).
It is possible that this scene is crappy due to my 25 Frames/second DVDs. In that case I ask a fellow US DVD owner if I could get every single frame of that scene.
-
I might be able to do it, if someone can tell me how far into the episode (even roughly) it is.
EDIT:
V Psst... Gleno requested it.
-
Thanks Luisa, but luckily my DVDs seem to be ok for that scene. :)
If that is the scene Slacky Gleno* meant, of course.
Here is a preview:

Someone tell me if that shows up in Japanese. It should, I'm trying to see if this Japanese typing program works over the internet. I think it'll appear correctly n the American versions of Windows, but I'm not sure if any other versions have Japanese fonts installed by default.

I see what appears to be Japanese script.

I can see it.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that there is, Nurdy. Two or three different ones, in fact.
All that I see in Zeep's post is a string of question marks. That's normal for my crappy browser, though.

-
I just see question marks, if it's important someone gimme the gist of it, otherwise I'm going back to bed, g'night!
-
Zeep- I saw a bunch of question marks too
-
I can see it normally :)
I've got auto-select for the encoding, so that might be one of the reasons I can see it.
Don't always work though, the mount of times I see something like Îïèñàíèå: ñîâåòñêèå ñîëäàòû òåïåðü ãîâîðÿò ïî-ðóññêè or some crazy shite like that when I'm looking up Cyrillic pages... :hmpf:
Have to switch on the Cyrillic encoding myself then.
And that then means I go to French or German sites and find Cyrillic letters appearing in the middle of words.
-
I just see rectangles.
-
Quit looking at the sun then.
-
It has to do with your Windows and browser settings. See if you got the Asian and Cyrillic fonts installed.
...don't ask me how.

Goatees are for gay lads and evil twin/stereotypes, full-on beard to the max!
Hide a roast chicken in it and still have room for your skateboard, lovely.

I'm currently obtaining a beard as well. My mother said I looked like a "mountain man", my friends say I look like Wolverine, and my girlfriend says I look like "funny". Oh well, I don't need them! I refuse to trim it what-so-ever.

Gay... lads... ? Anyway, I get the best of both worlds, because I rock the goatee, but it's half a foot long, so I can hide all sorts of contraband in it.
In fact, I'm so scruffy looking I got hassled at Canadian customs on Thursday. I showed up in a dirty mechanic jacket with Rock & Roll patches held on with safety pins, and a STP racing hat pulled down low, and when they asked me where I was going, I said "acadmic conference."
They had trouble believing me.
-
Those mini goatees are gay, your one is ok I suppose, as long as you can kidnap babies in it.

So, which video game do you think that Red Bank kids played that the media is going to turn into a scapegoat? I'm giving 3-1 on GTA, 10-1 on Halo 2, and 20-1 on Mortal Kombat 2.

I'm suprised that although it was banned in a few countries, Postal 2 has been blamed for very little.
And I also like the name "Mary Jane" for weed.

As long as the police don't catch you fucking "Mary" "Jane" in the back of your car after curfew ;)

Jicannon: Seconded.
Hah! I paid attention to him! Tongue Luck's timeline is flawed.
Here's an entertaining fact for you. Every year, each college at Rice has a theme for their freshman orientation week, otherwise known as O-Week. Past themes have been SuperherO Week, MafiosO Week, and Where in the World is Carmen San DiegO Week.
This year, Brown College's them is DingO Week. Yep, the theme is Australia. Just goes to show that even though no one else at my school is on PEEL, they seem to be aware of the awesomeness quotient of Slacky, M0le, and all you other definitely-not-kiwis.

It's a quiet thursday night, so why don't I take one of my many volumes of the writings of Sir Dryfop Malresh-Cracker off of the shelf, and enlighten you all with his dazzling brilliance?
"Today, babblekins, I have been jamming my thoughts into the brainspace of 'doors'. Doors are not wholly unlike walls, if walls had hinges and swung at man's wanton behest. In actual truthful fact, walls and doors could be said to actually be the same thing, if you are an advocate of splitting your infinitives and repeating yourself by duplicating the same utterance again twice over. However, Charles, if you ever were to hoff such an imagining from your word-tubes, i'd brand you as silly as a jovial vase, as walls and doors are conceptually unlike (or 'unalike', if your trapezium is malnourished and you crave vowels). A wall repels one area from another, possibly by the use of obscene language. A door, by comparison, gels two locations together in a rather cold, affectionless way, akin to a trumpet-merchant betrothing himself to a young maidenette, then only keeping in contact by whistling into a box. In brevity, therefore, to keep it short, in other words, I would recommend not tuning your trust-glands in the frequency of doors, for they are designed to decieve. Walls may not flip aboard the flashy modern trendwagon of 'movement', but they win the game of galloping reliability. Additionally, they mystery-clad your brain, as you may never croll your eyes across the side on the other side, leaving your existance expectorus of more. How delightful."
The appendix makes note that during this period the Commander was redecorating his study and may have forgotten to place the lids back on the paint tins.

@Nerd-O: I'll see if I can write you up an insiders guide to Australia...
-
Doesn't being inside sorta defeat the whole point of Australia? I thought it was designed to show the average middle-class English family that sun, sea, sand and sub-tropical temperatures are possible in this world, but that it'd probably be best not to go because of those dreadfully odd accents. Thus, giving us hope of a better life and reaffirming our xenophobia.
-
English person: Let's send all our worst, most dangerous criminals and bread stealers to an entire continent filled with sand, surf, and sun while we stay here in the rain and die from the plague! That'll show 'em!

On the same note, a White Castle just opened ten minutes from JBERGES' house, which is possibly the highlight of my year.

When I first read that, I thought you meant the other type of food chain. Y'know, deer eats grass, aardvark eats deer, wallaby eats aardvark. It makes more sense now
Kloudes, I already posted that in the optimistic thread. We are very sad people…
-
All Chick-Fil-A's are closed on Sunday. But they do have good (albeit expensive) food.

I've heard White Castle is some pretty nasty shit. If one opened in my town, I'd probably steer clear of it.

No no, the correct term is "New Yorkers." Not a single Chick-fil-a in the entire state. There's at least one in Massachussetts, however. Mmm Chick-fil-a.
Also, re: losing an attack sub: It's simple enough to lose one, just have Sean Connery captain it.
-
Damn, Ramius would have been a great name to use... :hmpf:

It's a heck of a lot easier to lose an attack sub than, say, an aircraft carrier. They go under water. :p

While we're on the subject of fast food (or not whatever) I went to McDonalds today for breakfast with my Mum and I got my order and she decided to get a shake....the price on the menu was $2.70 but the girl rang it up on the till as $2.90....
Mum refused to pay the 20c cos she says it's false advertising, the girl said they've just had a price change which is fair enough but I guess they haven't changed the menu prices yet....
The girl spoke to the manager who said don't worry about the 20c and we were only charged $2.70....
So that was my day....

What's the difference between rap and hip hop?
-
YES! THAT is a question that has plagued me for eons. I'll never achieve full ghetto status until someone tells!
-
lets us not forget "Street Hopping" ala NaS
-
I think rap is the commercial mongloid baby brother of hip hop.
-
Gleno: It is indeed false advertising. If there are two separate prices for the same item you can demand the cheaper price. At least that's the law in England and I'd imagine it is the same in most other countries.
-
testing my sig, can't actually remember what it was.

I'm currently arguing with Ebuyer over this. I ordered a mis-priced PC for £120, they're currently lying to me.
-
how much do they say it is? and if they won't give it to you for £120, will you still have to pay?
-
It's a bit of a mess:
Saw mis-priced PC and Monitor (£120 instead of ~£650)
Ordered
Payment accepted and stock allocated
Item was then removed from Ebuyer within a few hours
Order changed to stock no allocated
Several days later, order cancelled, sent an "Enote" saying that there was a mis-listing by a manufacturer and the price was the price for just the monitor. The product is removed from their lines.
A) Price is not the same as the monitor on its own, so their reasoning is a lie
B) Both monitor and PC are still stocked seperately, but the combined package is withdrawn.
It's all a bit weird. They kept my payment for days, but withdrew the line within hours. Currently they're refunding the money, i want the damned PC and Monitor for the price listed.
-
Why is my time not synched up with PEEL time anymore?
Was last night Daylight Savings Time and I didn't know about it?
-
That's because the server is located in Germany, and were are on daylight saving time since last night.
As far as I know - Y_L_B told me yesterday - your time will change next week (at least in Michigan).

Yes.

Yeah, YLB's in my time zone.
Only one week of off time shouldn't bother me.

Ah BST, now my insomnia is even worse but I can wake up in sunny comfyness!
My brother's friend came over the other day and showed me a tattoo on his ankle "Wingus", his gf has Dingus, think that qualifies as the most obscure Futurama reference ever. I thought he was a pretty normal guy. He named his cat Hzoozoo too...freaks! :p

Hey Finch, my anti-angst pills are wearing off.
Fucking 'tards, can't spell, two more fucking letters and you'd look like your IQ is ten points higher, even though you'd still be in the 0-10 range.
Fucking quiz "you must be 18 to take the quiz" I didn't even say I was under 18, what did they track my computer down and look in my window and see I'm under 18 to cancel my online personality quiz?
Anyway, the good news is I finished reading my erotic story with irresponible parents and little high school girls going around school naked for a week, it had I good ending, I highly suggest it.
Although it isn't too explicit, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone too young, as it swears, has a few sex scenes, and is technically erotica. (http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/10-000026-1/#t23)

and I thought it was Pazuzu.
Reference to the Exorcist.

You know maybe someone who's not lazy should check the subtitles on that there episode....

see, i was about to, but then i realised i had to turn the TV on, put the DVD in and watch it. and not only that, but i had to remember what season it was, and then what disc... so everything just sorta fell apart. i always thought i was Hazuzu aswell
-
It's Pazuzu.
-
ohhh, also what was the wingus dingus reference?
-
oh, I know..!
Brannigan: "Leela! My sweet. I've come to save you! I have a devious plan."
Leela: "Oh, great... Captain Moron has a plan. Why don't you tell it to Wingus and Dingus here?"
Brannigan: *turns to Bender & Fry* "Wingus, Dingus, listen up. We're going to give the aliens the ol' switcheroo."
Fry: "You mean..."
Brannigan: "Correct! I've found a giant hideous ape that looks exactly like Leela."
From The Problem with Popplers.
Pazuzu is from Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, season 4.
-
thank you.
and let me test my...pants.
yep good

The internet is I believe governed by different regulations than a physical shop or mail order is, since it is international. You may still stand a chance of winning your case, especially if you threaten legal action. I know that some sites such as amazon have a built in bug feature which if a price isn't found, instead of displaying the price of a sellable item as "0.00" it'll feature at say "999,999,999" until the bug is fixed.
Good luck.

Y_L_B, that is very cool new siggy quote thingy. At least i think its new, the bit about mediocrity. You whored well

It's a Foo Fighters video, I think from some One By One song. I could probably look that up on the DVD that came with the album or something, but I'm lazy.

Speaking of Foo Fighters... Guess who's playing at Roskilde Festival this year.
...yeah, you'll never guess it!
-
ZZ Top? Oh, please let it be ZZ Top!
-
Mew! And Isis!
I'm gonna go change my pants.

The bands I need to see (so far) are:
Mew
Foo Fighters
Interpol
Isis
Jamie Cullum
Audioslave
Enslaved
Skambankt
...and I guess Green Day, for old times' sake, if nothing better is on at the time.
I think the rest of the bandlist will be published within two weeks or so.

A new PEELer named "Super Fry" joins on April Fools Day and starts making stupid threads and posts.
Ten bucks it's winna.
And on a completely unrelated note, where has Nurdbot been? He hasn't been on in like a week.
-
Yeah, wait, it's April Fool's day. Shouldn't someone have turned up dead by now?

Maybe Nurbot's dead. I haven't seen him around.
Or maybe he's not spending time here because he got a girlfriend.
:laff:

I liked super fry for some reason...

Ooh! My brother totally got accidentally April Fooled. Like, it wasn't even meant to be a trick. He was on the computer, and that annoying banner ad came up. You know, the one where you swat that buzzing fly and "win" some gadget or other. Well, he heard the sound effect and freaked out, all, "What the hell? Aahhhh! There's a fly in my ear!" Then he started whacking at his ears, first with his hands, then with a magazine, yelling, "You're not going to live!" It sounds like this performance was some stupid joke, but, well, he's really not a good actor. I could tell he genuinely believed he had an earful of fly. Amid breathless laughter, I managed to tell him the sound was coming from the computer. He turned off the speakers, listened for about ten seconds, turned them back on, listened again, then muttered, "Shut up," and stomped up the stairs.
It was glorious. Funniest thing I've seen in weeks.

A friend of mine told her boyfriend she was pregnant for April Fools and he went berserk. :D

Meh, I've gotta go with a fake account. I mean, what is the chance?
A new PEELer named "Super Fry" joins on April Fools Day and starts making stupid threads and posts.
Ten bucks it's winna.
And on a completely unrelated note, where has Nurdbot been? He hasn't been on in like a week.
Yes. I meant to say "Super Fry, genuine newbie or winna". But I was tired and sick.
I swear I'm not winna

Anyone notice that activity on PEEL has severely slowed down recently? I mean, even offtopic is slowing down.
*waits 5 hours for response*

Nah man... dude
Dude, nasty, I'm betterest than ever... dude poison venomous snake viper in your FACE!23!#$2
*runs*
-
yeah, i know! its really wierd, where has everyone gone, over the past couple of days its been crap, i posted something, waited for a reply, slept on it, still nothing, went to school came back, still no reply, and the thread i had posted in was only 6 from the top!
-
Yeah. PEEL is losing it. Hell, I've been posting ontopic the last two days.
-
PEEL isn't what it used to be, that's for sure.
So many good PEELers lost to the fabrics of space and time....
-
If I may interject... you may...
So.... Peel has always been that way. No one ever stays for long. But then it isn't Peel.... it's actually really life. The closest people to you are going to be gone tomorrow... and there's nothing you can do about it... unfortunately people have problems coping with this. Your best bet is to accept the inevitable, everything around you is dead, including yourself.

I got my Rush record and a 2L or Sprite, now if i only had Lumines for my PSP. :(
-
I think we need to have a pirate competition.
-
I think we need to listen to me for a second, because I am planning to stage a revolution.
It is time to clear out the on topic sections of idiots for once and for all. I had originally tried to partake on this quest, but then I stopped and I realize now that since it was getting me more supporters, it must have been a good thing. My armies are fading. Everyone knows this. I seem to have no rhyme or reason anymore. I can feel myself becoming completely insignificant.
On topic will drown in its own puke. The chat speak is going down.
I just need to know who's with me.
-
Can we have a pirate competion afterwards?
-
Yeah, sure, I'll do it, I'm just about due for a banning soon anyhow.
-

Oh god yes.
And Lamp, if you're so anal about on-topic, just don't go in there. The Futurama sections ain't goin nowhere.

Why have a Futurama board if there's no On topic?
-
M0le: A pirate competition would be good, but hows 'bout a Futurama look-alike one?
-

Because ever since I stopped posting in on-topic, my following has been diminishing. I need to round up all the noobs, hogtie them in a big circle, and lower them over an open fire. Then we can eat n00burgers.
-
First order of business:
Woooooo! Merry Lampymas!
That make you feel better, Lampy?
Anyhow, on winamp streaming radio there is a videogame soundtrack channel. I tune in to it and guess what's playing? One-Winged Angel. I love the internet.
-
You didn't even nominate me for POTM.
All I need is to win this once and then I can't anymore. Then you won't hear any more mass bitching from me. Please? Next time?

I just saw the strangest thing on peel! I should have take'n a sceen shot of it.

-
Well, M0le's going to win this month, so that means you'll probably be back on my list next month if you keep up to your usual standards of badassness.
Also, have I won yet? No. Have I deserved it? Yes. Am I bitching about it? Hell no.
-
I'm back.
Nah, April Fools you twirps. :) I want to keep my low post rate.
-
Well let me tell you a story 'bout a man named Nerd-o
Cleared his cookies then had to post-o
To store his name again in the serv-o
And what the hell, let's make sure my sig still works, too. I really should get around to updating it...maybe when Layla hits page 20.
EDIT: TOTP Congratulations dance to M0le for being PotM March 05. Throw another kangaroo on the Barbie, or whatever.

A Texan who sucks at hoe-downs?
You've disapointed us all, Nerd-O.
-
Mic, that is a relief, I was worried that you'd really returned :evillaugh:
-
Thanks Ricky. You're a smelly bastard.
On a completely unrelated note to Nasty: You said you've got Mythbusters in the US. Does it have an Aussie narrating it or is it just over here? (I ask because I heard the producer is an Aussie and most of the financing comes from us, apparently  )
-
Yes... the croc hunter narrates Mythbusters.
-
M0le won POTM, hurray!
One more diserving winner.
-
Huzzah. i voted for lampy, but still. Congratulations M0le, you were my second choice, and look where that got you!!!

This (http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/1-003750-1/#t4) is a hoedown.

So... bought some Star Wars paraphanalia today, including a coloring book with stickers. I was flipping through the pages and I came upon this:

Am I the only one who finds that extremely disturbing?
-
Send it to Maxim's Found Porn section. They might pay you $150 for that find if it's good enough.
-
You're right, Kloudes. That IS disturbing.
-
Am I the only one who can't see the larger size of that picture?
-
Me neither. I often get that.
-
Imageshack suxxorxz. We should all subscribe to Photobucket! (http://www.photobucket.com)
-
That's not imageshacks fault... ok partly it is. But when editing the post holding such an imageshack url PEEL messes it up.
link to Kloudes' picture (http://img180.exs.cx/img180/8852/p40404170gi.jpg)
-
Imageshack seems to have fucked up the link overview, but there's always a way of finding the large image. Especially if you have the thumbnail image URL (just remove ".th" from the image filename).
Disturbing, yes. Though not as disturbing as C-3PO popping a rather large, eye-catching boner on an official trading card.
-
Haha, yes, I thought about that when I first came across the Leia/Vader page.

Thought I'd just let everyone know - I'm driving to the otherside of England for a meetup with some old friends. The roads aren't always very nice, so in case something happens along the way, you've been warned :p
-
Good luck Zed, if in doubt, use your bumper against a railing or some old ladies to slow down.

So, whom of you Brits knows anything about the UKIP? I need some info on them since I'm writing something about them in this essay about all sorts of stuff.
I already looked at UKIP.org. and google, but all I find is propaganda. Any criticism you know of?
-
UKIP sprung up from nowhere around the last Local Elections. They had (disgraced) daytime TV personality Robert Kilroy-Silk as an active figurehead, and won a large number of seats and gained many "rebel" votes, as people wanted to show their anger at their parties for things such as the Iraq war.
They're mainly an anti-EU and anti-immigration party, that's their main policy and where they're getting votes from.
Since the last Local Elections, Robert Kilroy-Silk was kicked out of the party (I think his views differed with that of the party), and they're not expected to get very far in the General Election, which was announced today to take place on May 5th.
-
As aslate said, they're regarded as a fringe party, although the main base of support they're expected to draw is from far-right former Conservative voters.
I class them in the same league as the BNP (British National Party). And that's not a compliment.
-
UKIP are hardly extreme right, they just want us out of the EU, many on the left feel the same way about that.
Kilroy Silk used to be a Labour MP a while back.
-
So they are right wing liberals in the classical sense, with a touch of populist nationalism?
-
Everyone, I just thought I'd let you guys know.
Today, my sister, Bender_Waffles, was taken out of school for severe depression and for considering committing suicide.
She will be in a clinic for about a week, and will try to get over this difficult period in her life.
Please pray for her well-being and her safe return.
Thanks guys.
-
That blows, Nasty. Fourteen is a universally rough age. I think the majority of the population can relate to her plight to some degree. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to downplay her suffering or anything. More saying that I hope she knows she shouldn't feel alone, or like a freak or something. Things do get better with time, as you grow up, especially if you have support during those miserable adolescent years. Which it sounds like you're providing. Give her a hug for me, kay?
-
Nasty, let her know we're thinking about her. Depression can be a rough battle - at least she's geting help.
-
That sucks, Nasty. :( I don't know what to say, so I'll just hope she gets better. Remind her that she always has PEEL, no matter what happens.
-
Will do, Nasty
-
Funny. She always seemed so chipper, here. Ah, well.
Keep her grounded, and make sure she feels loved. That's all I can say.
-
I thank you all for your support, and I'm sure she'd be happy to see that she is so welcomed here on PEEL.
-
Well, I offer my sympathy. 14 sucked for all of us, and I know she'll get through this.
I'd make her a card, but that would probably depress her more...
-
Being 13, I can understand all the shit life throws at you at that age. I thought I had it bad, but damn. I offer my sympathy and anything I can do, though I doubt there is much, if any.
-
Usually when I hear about depression and bad families and stuff, I flip Dr Phil the bird, but seeing as how my sister went through this, I feel you, my sister was in a phyciatric clinic for a week, it sucked, anyhow, I offer my blessings, not that that means much any more, but tell her the PigTrick cares.
EDIT: TOTP Thugz Mansion
A place to spend my quiet nights, time to unwind
So much pressure in this life of mine, I cry at times
I once contemplated suicide, and woulda tried
But when I held that 9, all I could see was my momma's eyes
No one knows my struggle, they only see the trouble
Not knowin it's hard to carry on when no one loves you
Picture me inside the misery of poverty
No man alive has ever witnessed struggles I survived
Prayin hard for better days, promise to hold on
Me and my dawgs ain't have a choice but to roll on

I bought a lottery ticket today! I'm 99.999999999% going to lose. :D
-
Pfft... my sister did try to kill herself... apparently she took 20 500 mg tablets of aspirin (acetamenophine poisoning?)... then she went to the clinic for like two weeks and had a big ole time.... like it was a fucking party... and they just pilled her up some more (irony?)... I went and saw her like every day but meh.... when she got out she was like an emotional rollercoaster... bouncing off the walls one moment and crying the next. There's no point to this post at all... I stopped caring about anything and everything a long time ago... I hope to sleep one day forever... anyways hope your sis feels better Nasty, make sure she doesn't turn to drugs ;)
-
Sorry to hear about that Nasty, hope she's feeling better soon.
-
That is sad Nasty :( I hope and pray things get better for her soon.
Let her know that the people here care about her :)
-
At least it's getting identified and dealt with. I wish I'd had some more attention when I was around that age. Those years are tough.
I recommend therapy, prescription drugs, sports or a creative hobby and patience (and in the meanwhile maybe a little alcohol and drugs but only if you have a strong personality)
-
That's horrible... She always smiles a lot in photoes... I can't say anything other than the obvious, which is: Show your support, but don't smother her in it...
-
@ Nasty: What!?! I'm really sorry to hear that, dude. Those years were rough on all of us. Hell, it still is rough on some of us! She always seemed happy here. I don't really know what to say...
-
Ya, know, I think when she comes back from the clinic and sees all the nice things you guys have said, she'll feel alot better.
Thanks again. :)
-
oh cmon. everyone feels bad at 13/14, what's the big deal? some people even live in bad conditions unlike spoiled americans. unless there are actual problems (like rape, abuse, etc), i dont care. showoff.
--
yes you can start hating me now [as if you didnt already...heh heh]
-
Marg, sorry, but you are a total bitch. Fuck off.
You wouldnt call my sister thinking about killing herself a serious problem? I'm sure nobody would care deeply if you did the same.
If you don't have anything kind to say about my sister, don't fucking post.
-
Your sister has nice boobs. :)

sorry, i didnt know this thread is called "feeling bad for nasty's sister". my bad.
-
Seriously Margarita, what the fuck is wrong with you? You're not funny or clever, just insensitive, rude, and arrogant.
-
Well this is a thread about making general announcements in such.
But of course, if I had started a thread about it you probably would have bitched about it not being in the test thread.
-
i'm always surprised how everyone expects everyone else to feel the same way as them. if you post something, expect different replies. that's just my opinion. lots of kids DO kill themselves every year, she's just another one (who didnt even do it). there are far worse cases. kids are abused, raped, sold. do you know that? that's what i care about. if some teenage chick is feeling depressed because of her puberty, well... that's too bad. that's like saying 'i ate a dinner' today. yeah well, everyone else did too.
-
If you're going to make offensive and stupid comments, expect the rest of PEEL to tell you that you should shut the fuck up. That's our opinion.
Well, I'm off now. Nasty, my advice is to do your best to ignore Margarita- she seems to thrive on negative attention. Just remember that most of us here are sympathetic to your sister (and you).
-
Oh, yes, valid point Margarita. B_W is just another common statistic after all, not a human being with genuine feelings, whether widely shared or not. We don't expect you to feel the same way, but then again we don't openly welcome your insensitve bitch attitude either.
edit:

And what the hell kind of point is that? Nasty made a statement (which is what the test thread is for), you made a comment, and Nasty responded to it. What's wrong with it? No the thread isn't called "feeling bad for nasty's sister". It's called "Over 10 Million Winnas And Counting", so talk about winna if you want to remain on topic with the thread title.
-
I didn't know Bender_Waffles was your sister, but either way, it's sad to hear about this. I hope for the best.
And Margarita, this is about the first time I've seen you on PEEL(I'm "newer" )but you do sound like a total bitch right now. The guy's sister is in a sort of trouble and all you can do is sit there and complain about it!? I mean, that's totally uncalled for.
And, for my first post at this thread, I went to the Maryland State Geography Bee last Friday. For a Delmarva "country hick", getting top 100 in Maryland is pretty good, and there were only 4 students from the Shore in the top 100. And also, I'm in a play! WOO-HOO! I get to be a croutchy, old man, and then a hip, young man! Woo-hoo!
-
What play is that i_c? Sounds like Damn Yankees..?
-
Besides, marg, if you're going to complain about Pasty being an attention whore, do it in the 673 threads that he actually was one, rather than the one where he and the rest of PEEL are trying to be nice to his sister.
EDITed for clear antecedent.
-
Ah tell your sister to buck up and put a smile on... Those technical terms are shit... You just gotta smile and embrace the good, lifes a garden, dig it (thanks Joe Dirt) I wish the best of luck to her...
-
It's called Lil' Abner. I hadn't heard of it before I got in it, but it's was a comic and it's "a hick play". Not rednecks, but more like hillbillies.
And Whoop, I love that quote.

You, know Marg, when I first started posting here, I hated you. After a while, you stopped being a bitch, so I didn't hate you. Now I hate you again.
Just "looking on the bright side" or "bucking up" doesn't always work. We've all had suicidal thoughts before, or at least, I have. I know what it feels like to be wallowing in your own despair, and to look down at your wrist, thinking "Just one clean slice of the knife, and my warm, salty, chrimson life-fluid would all flow out of me." You just have to think logically, and know that if you did die, it would make somepeople unhappy. It would also make some people happy, but I'm not giving those dirty fuckers the pleasure. Always live your life, even if it is just to spite others. Hell, I'm a liberal Athiest living in the bible belt! I can at least take some comfort in the fact that I'm pissing people off. As long as you make a difference in at least one life, it's worth living. And I know that Bender_Waffles has cheered me up on numerous occasions, and that alone is a small miracle. I would hate to see a brght young lass like that be snuffed out.

Heh, you should try being a liberal Christian living in the Bible Belt. We get the evil eye from the rest of our congregation and disdain from the damnyankees.
When I was depressed, I always figured guns would be the safest way to go, as in the hardest to fuck up. Good thing my parents are liberal, too, so I didn't have access to one.
Note: not the only reason I didn;t kill myself.
Faze: Hey, you never know with these future saint guys...

So this guy marky is just a drooling retard, then? I mean, I hadn't heard of him two days ago and now he has like thirty posts, most of them back to back, and not a single capital letter in any of them. He spelled "supposed" "sopose," for God's sake.
Do you think he knows superfry?
-
Seems like a reregistered guy taking a second chance and messing it up worse than the first time.
Anyway, I'd also like to wish Bender_Waffles well. I've known a lot of 'happy on the outside' people that are actually quite miserable (in fact it's quite common). It can make a person even worse trying to cover it up. Not that I really know her of course, she just seemed chirpy most of the time.
It's good that there's a clinic place anyway, if she was in Britain there'd be a heavy anti-depressant prescription and bugger all else.
-
That's what's standard in America as well...the Pasties must live in a better-run/richer school district than I did.

Holy crap, Bender_Waffles is depressed! I hope she is getting better. Being 13, I know kinda what she is going through. Tell her that a lot of people care about her, and I wish her the best. :)
As for that marky guy, I agree with Zmithy. He was just trying to get a second chance and screwed it up. But please marky, use capitals.

Oh winna, how gothic of you...
-
Elect me for the new Pope, I'm not Catholic but I sure can party.
-
Margy, did you ever stop to think that seeing lots of friends supporting you would help? What's wrong with people posting on here about problems? Just because it's not rape or whatever, doesn't make it serious. How about smoking pot, leaving #FC because you lost OP, that's not rape, you get worked up about it. PEEL should be a good place, not somewhere where you get bitched at because you posted one of your problems...
Good luck Bender_waffles!

Nasty: That sucks. And also, so bizarre because she seems like one of the well adjusted ones. Having one of your family want to kill themselves is really scary- my uncle did the same thing when I was about 11. Luckily, there are ways out of it- curable ways. The same uncle turned out to be schizophrenic, but he's got that under control so I'm sure waffles will be able to do the same, especially if she doesn't have an incurable mental condition.
Marg: There's no need to be an insensitive little bitch.
-
@Nurdy: Perhaps you could get Tweek to bust your posts back down to 6666? Couldn't harm your cause! :)
:p
Hello folks BTW, I'm back. :)
Drove all the way (220ish miles) to Norwich to miss my friends completely, but what the hey! :D
Sorry to hear about your sis, Nasty. Hope she comes out the other end of this...well...not depressed anymore. :hmpf:

Yes, Margarita, all valid points are made in your post. Sure, many kids are depressed in these days. That doesn't make it right. It only shows that our society is really f'd up. I don't consider myself a mental health professional therefore I'm relieved to have B_W in the appropriate care. Can that make me a bad mother? Some people may think that. I have given my kids (Nasty Pasty & Bender Waffles) a freedom that I am proud of. Yeah they don't make their beds or clean their rooms, but neither did I. They do however have the freedom to express themselves. Whether it is verbally, artistically, musically. My point is that they have to find themselves, I can't chose their path for them. I don't think Nasty Pasty made a post for his sister (Bender Waffles) to get sympathy. I think he was just hoping for a kind word or two from his and her fellow peelers. I was shocked and pleased to read the numerous positive posts and not surprised to read any of the negative ones. That as I stated before is the freedom of choice. Sure I too am not the most sympathetic person in the world, just ask ANY of my family members, but I do pray for them to find the guidance they need. This includes my daughter (B_W). I like to think in the vein of "Its a Wonderful Life". How many lives would be different if a soul didn't exist. How many people would suffer from the non-existance of anyone that may have helped them through a difficult time.
I thank all of you for your thoughts and comments. I will pass them along. :D
-
This is besides the matter, but I would be really really freaked out if my mom would post on a message board I frequent. ;)
-
Me too. Also, Mom is really level headed. If that was my mum, she would have fucked Marg right up for saying that.
-
If they can lay down a reasonable schedule, Roskilde Fesitval is gonna fucking kick so much arse this year!! (http://www.roskilde-festival.dk/object.php?obj=88000c&code=1)
Of course, there are shitty names on the list, but at least eight of the good ones made me spaz out in euphoria. And it's not even an overstatement. When I saw The Mars Volta, Fantômas and Mew on there, I think I let out a tiny squeal... Partially out of surprise, but definitely also out of joy. Buy tickets, people!
-
You know, I'm almost convinced now that DaveMason is an actual person and not just a fake account.

Ah. Would that make her feel better?
OR, A more typical Jeremy response:
Then she would drink a gallon of gasoline and go shopping. (If she's anything like you <3)
Perhaps B_W wouldn't want this to be discussed on a message board. Anyone think about that? Big brother? Mummy?
-
Nah, we're all friends here. Even better, friends that don't interact with her any way except via this message board, so she can easily ignore us if we get on her nerves.
Anyhoo, the remote servers at my school are fucked up. Which really sucks since I needed to log on with SSH to turn in my homework properly. I wound up just zipping and e-mailing to my profs, which they hate, but I think it's better to be annoying and have proof I finished on time than to be obsequious.

Only somebody with Admin powers can lower his post count, if I could do it I'd have done so ages ago :evillaugh:

This is a really late reply, but I hope you get through this B_W. I was depressed a few years ago as well (at 14, scarily) and I was lucky enough to get through it. Now look at me! I can do whatever I want! Hweeeee! :p

Don't worry about that. Yesterday, I printed out the transcript from this thread, and showed it to her when I visited. She seemed very happy and wanted to thank you all very much for your support in her time of need.
-
"she seems to thrive on negative attention.|
not really... i didnt feel like reading this for awhile. i guess i am insensitive but for me she's just another girl and that was my general opinion about that kind of thing.
" You of course being an expert on Americans and on the hard life. Whatever."
i wasnt taking about americans as a race but rather as the people who's life is pretty good in average [i mentioned that if there's a serious cause i take my words back]. i wont say i had a really hard life, but yes it was shitty. i wont go in details here...
"You, know Marg, when I first started posting here, I hated you. After a while, you stopped being a bitch, so I didn't hate you. Now I hate you again [other stuff]"
after awhile, you get kinda cynical...
"What's wrong with people posting on here about problems?"
nothing. what's wrong with people posting their opinion?
"leaving #FC because you lost OP, that's not rape, you get worked up about it."
no, i left #fc because of the intelligence level that you just displayed in that sentence... just for the record, slimmy deoped me after i left #fc...and if it was just +o, wouldnt i come back eventually? but i kinda dont feel like it
"Yes, Margarita, all valid points are made in your post. [other stuff]"
it's kinda true, but with too much freedom comes alienation too... my parents never asked me how i feel and i think they should've... it's not just about me, i think parents should be aware of stuff like depression because they might find their kids dead one day... good post, btw
-
Tell her that she's welcome for the support and that we hope that she'll recover soon.
And on another note, it's cool to see a family on PEEL, and it's also kinda scarey to have your mom on PEEL. Either way, cool.

I for one think Marg has some extremely valid points and I think if you lot are so hell bent on turning a message board into a group therapy session, then she's more than justified to rebuke it. Why is it only is the past decade or so that we suddenly have so many 'broken' 13 and 14 year olds? Is it so hard for baby boomers to raise well-adjusted kids?
This therapy culture and the associated rampant prescribing of mind-numbing drugs are only going to mask the real sociological cause (if there's even a valid condition to treat in the first place, which in the majority of cases is unlikely) whilst making pharmaceutical companies even richer.
-
Ok dude.... saying most of the US population embodies any list of characteristics is ignorant. Now you're just trying to alienate yourself and make yourself an outsider. That in itself is even more ignorant, and therefore you may have just made yourself out to be things that you hated. Besides I could care less about what makes up the average american... or any other american for that matter: I hope they all die.
-
okay, i just read what ben said, im a still processing it...
should i be worried that i couldn't see 11 dolphins in that "Eye test"?
...still processing.
(i'm not serious about this post, i mean to opposite to everything i said)
-
Dude... there were no dolphins in that picture... it was just some dolphin getting it up the butt.
-
US culture is too diverse to be defined by any overriding characteristics. Fuck, I'm too diverse to be described by any overriding chrarcterists. Just in ethnicity I've got Italian, Slavic (Ukraine, bitch!), Mexican on a technicality, Dutch, Scotch, Irish, probably German somewhere, and God only knows what else. And don't get me started on personality.
And ff, most of the federal legislature is Republican and "Christian" [sic]. That doesn't mean most of America is. And yes, the average American is fatter than the average anywhere-elser.
Ben: unlike marg, you have a point. We make too big a deal out of therapizing problems that may or may not exist. However, that is no reason not to offer sympathy to someone under stress, despite the fact that because everyone has gone through something similar.
Also, anyone who thinks depression can be cured with drungs is a fucking idiot, plain and simple.

I mentioned prescription drugs, but didn't mean these drugs alone are the cure.
When I mentioned the illegal drugs, I meant that someone who is depressed can use them to temporarily forget all the bad feelings, and be reminded of good feelings, even if such feelings are artificial at that time. It gives you something to look out for, in a natural form then. You understand what I mean?
-
I really do. In more people's case though, that artificial feeling falls apart, leaving them wanting more, and more ripped apart then when they started. I don't reccomend recreational use of drugs to ease the pain or make you forget the worries; problems that you have should be cut at the source, not covered over with a weak coat of paint. But I totally understand what you mean zj.
-
I agree with Nerd-o that Americans aren't just the things that ff said. I'm not old enough to vote, but I have political stands. Almost everything that that ff said doesn't apply to me. I'm part French, Irish, German, British, and part Canadian as well. Even though that has nothing to do with this topic, it shows diversity in the American public rather than a something that's set in as the way all Americans really are.
Recreational drug use isn't good to cover problems. It just leads to more problems. To make a Futurama reference on a Futurama message board, look what happened to Bender on Hell is Other Robots. He had a serious issue that was caused by recreational "drugs". With that, I agree with everything that winna said. The use of recreational drugs just covers the problem, but doesn't solve it for you other than making you want more until you die. That's the only problem it solves, if you'd call that a problem.

I see no difference between prescription and illegal drugs here. Both give you a temporary and false feeling of happiness by screwing with your brain chemistry, and both are habit-forming if not addictive. One's just a more precisely calculated dosage. I just hate all the overmedication going on in America right now.

It's been a long day. That's why I'm drinking whiskey and eating hard boiled eggs.
Some girl ran a red light this morning and hit me. Fortunately, I was in a company car, so I don't have to worry about fixing it. So I had fun, as long as the insurance company doesn't try telling me I was even slightly at fault. I spun the bitch out something awesome, too. She wound up parked across the median in a shrub of some kind.
-
It's good to "see" you back, B_W.
-
Sounds like a nice, solid hit, Eggs. Just make sure you don't have whiplash (ass whiplash, I mean).
B_W, nice to have you back, hopefully feeling better about things. Keep in mind that you've got friends here.
God, I'm tired. I've been putting way too much overtime in at work. There's hardly even any time for drinking any more. Life is sucking, and I don't even have the time to get pissed when I most need to. (assume this last part is posted in the rant thread).
-
Well, tonight was the last practice for my school's play, Lil' Abner. I don't think it's that good, and I'm even in it! The people miss cues, they don't remember lines, and they don't move props or other things at the right times or remember to do it. I just hope that it all works out.
-
i_c, it's a school play. Chances are that no matter what catastophies happen, the audience will applaud, and nobody will be sentenced to die. Just have fun and enjoy.
-
Oh, Jesus, I missed a golden opportunity there. Man, I'd give a whole lot to go back there and tell the cop stone faced that I thought I had ass whiplash.
Maybe when the insurance company calls. But they'll probably just talk to the company.
-
Yeah, it is only a school play. I shouldn't really worry. It's their problems if they mess up. I just have to take it cool.
Did anybody watch SNL on Saturday? When there was the TV Funhouse cartoon, they had the glasses. Was that Kurt Cobain as one of the people that the person looked like through the glasses? I thought I saw him and he was next to Courtney Love. Anybody else see this?

I just came back from my school musical! It was pretty good. This was the second time I did this play (I did it last year), and the new kids that weren't in it last year did pretty well tonight. We get to do it again on Thursday. I am so happy, I love to prefrom musical theater.
-
So I got a new roommate for next year, since my current roommate seems determined to spend more time with his crazy conservative beer-swiller friends, and less time with the creepy kid who's on his computer 24 hours a day.
Anyway, new guy (whom I've talked to all of twice) seems about as talkative and decisive as I am. I foresee lots of awkward silence next year.
TOTP Room Swap.
-
Kill him as an act of dominance in the household.
Then stick some wheels on the body and ride the corpse to freedom.
-
The best way to insure your dominance in the household is to sleep with your roommate's mom. Then, if he ever gives you any shit, you just say, "You know I fucked your mom, right?"
-
Shhh! I almost had him riding a corpse!

I already did.

So I managed to sleep through both my alarms this morning. Fair enough, I've done it before. And yet somebody, very conscientiously, switched off both my alarm clock and my cell phone alarm, probably after the first time they rang since I usually wake up on the second try. Again, could have been me, but...well, let's just say I don't think that will happen again after May.
Shoulda just set the damn things for 9. I was going to skip physics and econ anyway. Now I'm skipping english too, and bitching on this board instead of writing my paper like I intended.
-
I've had that problem lately too Nerd-o...somehow I'm waking up, turning off my alarm, going back to sleep, and then waking up hours later without any memory of it. I've missed like half my classes in the past 2 weeks.
-
So my new room number is
*drumroll*
807. It's a corner room (larger) fortunately, and on the top floor which means better cellphone reception. Unfortunately, it's nowhere really near anyone I know, and faces the parking lot. Oh well, that means I get a better skyline...

Far out Peel IS dying!
700th Post! :D
-
One of my favourite cousins, Nina, has been sick with Lukemia for a few years, now. Even though her condition has been improving since Christmas, she died this morning at 4:48. Her 12th birthday would have been tomorrow.
I don't think I'll be able to go to the funeral (what with that whole "ocean" dealie), but if I suddenly disappear, that's why.
-
May she rest in peace.
And what is this ocean dealie you speak of? A proverbial ocean of grief you won't be able to handle, I gather?
Go anyway. You don't have to be afraid to let it all out, at least you can do it together.
-
I'm sorry, I should have been more clear on that...
That's why. Thank you for your support, though. Every little bit helps.
-
Oh.
-
I'm really sorry about that, Y_L_B.
Off topic: Is it just me or did PEEL become really huge? The text in the posts look like it's in 18-20 point font size, and everything else is big, too.
-
Check your resolution
and your text size in your browser.

I'd guess it's the latter. With firefox I can somehow change the text size with the scroll wheel on my mouse.

I did the same thing earlier. The weird part is I was using my touchpad, and I can almost never get the "wheel" function on that to work. I think I have to touch, hold and move along the right edge or something. Anyway, Ctrl+Wheel will zoom in or out in Firefox, and possibly IE as well.
-
Oh my God, that works! How come I never knew that?
-
I can do it when I have text highlighted and then use the scrollwheel.
Edit: Forget whatever I just said... I think I'm going to go make a deathjournal.....
-
Sorry to hear about that Y_L_B. I hope for the best for your family in this time.
For something completely different, the first showing of that play I'm in was today. I did pretty good. These two groups were trying to outprank eachother. The two girls got dog 'crap' and put it in and on the guys'(not mine, thank goodness) pants. Then, the guys found out and wipe the 'crap' on the one girl's costume. She was in half the play with dried up dog 'crap' on her back.

My last semester at CMU I was in a corner room. It was pretty cool, except that it was pretty clearly a not-so large double that was re-dubbed a triple by the time my two roomates and I moved in. Two of the walls were covered with windows (glass: the cheapest of building materials), but they looked out over a much nicer dorm and a subterranian receiving dock we affectionately called the "trash hole." The name was derived from the three or four dumpsters that were parked in the area. As you might imagine, it wasn't a pleasant visual or olfactory vista.

Aww...
Oh, and sorry to hear about you cousin, Bologna. Jeez, I thought I posted that like 6 hours ago, but apparently not.

I'm really sorry to hear that YLB, I hope you and Nina's family cope in this difficult time :(
-
My condolences too YLB.

Wow, that's tough. Sorry to hear that YLB :(

Sorry to hear about that YLB

My family's sincerest condolences to you and your family Y_L_B :(

Oy, Y_L_B, that's tragic. Here, I'll mail a big invisible bundle of good thoughts scientifically designed to split in half during the postage process. Half for you and half to navigate that big red circle in the ocean.
Also, Nerd-o, your new room is on the top floor. Jump out the window if you want responses. *burns in hell*

Isn't about time for Marg to show up and start being a bitch?

That's really sad YLB; :( perhaps you should send a card to them so that they know how you feel about it.
-
Thank you all very much for your condolences. It's appreciated. I've been having a really tough time with this. Nina is the fourth person in my family to pass in this month alone, and she was so young... Right up to the end she seemed so cheery, just happy to be alive...

I am personally tired of people thinking your better than Marge. Frankley I agree withher. People die all the time it deosnt even matter if they are the POPE HIMSELF. I dont see why it makes YBL any different. I am sorry but I refuse to feel sorry for some people. (and dont call me incensitive because one time my brothers friend died of cancer AND a car wreck. And I was sad so I know how it feels)

Now that's timing.

ok ok OK he didnt die of cancer but what if he did? I would of been JUST as sad. I just made up the cancer because I wanted to be able to relate to YLBs story. I dont think it matters though personaly. Margerita is right you people are 1LAMZORX.
-
Seriously, who the hell is this dumbass?
-
*crickets chirp in background*
Anyways, I think writing a card would be a grand idea YLB (steals a peel term for his own usage *yoink*)
-
Very sorry to hear that YLB - I'm running slightly late I know, but thought I should say so anyway :(
-
Death sucks. My dog died two years ago last August and my oldest brother died in May of '96 from a car accident. :(
-
Okay. Whoever DaveMason is, you can stop now. It's not funny. I know you're just trying to make a point by exaggerating, or whatever, but your stupid fun is getting really tired.
If you are real, then you're a very ignorant and shallow person. I'm quite aware that people die all the time and everybody dies, I've lost many people close to me during my lifetime, but it doesn't make it any less sad or tragic. The death of a loved one is not something that I can easily shrug off, even though it's happened so many times.
I want to send some flowers (through 1-800-flowers or something, of course) and a card for the funeral. It's tomorrow, and that's the next best thing to being there.
Thank you, Zed and Joysauce. Better late than never, and it's nice to see that everyone cares so much. :)

huh, tweek is a troll now?

The fuck is wrong with you people? We aren't talking about fucking statistics, we're talking about people, real people, for God's sake. Have a little fucking respect, you ignorant sons of bitches.
-
*pats GPT on his head* here, have a cookie :)
-
I agree with GPT. These are people. They aren't plants or goldfish from WalMart that you know will die in a week, they're people. How would you like it if you died tomorrow and everybody was like "F*** him/her. He/She was a ba*****/bi***"?
-
Or people could take my approach to this scenario. I don't know YLB well, and I can't do anything that would ease her pain or her family's, so I just don't say anything.
Does this count as having said something, I wonder?
-
Yes, yes it does. Also, to answer IC's question. If I could die tomorrow then that would be so fucking awesome. Also, if everybody said they hated me wished me to fuck off, that'd be cool too. :D

Too true. If I died and people said that about me, I would be so fucking depressed that my time & dedictation devoted to getting people to use actual swearwords rather than censoring themselves with those damn asterixes, failed miserably. :(

OK guys-
It looks like have an apolgize to make. I dont know WHAT i was thikning when I wrote all of that but I shouldnt have said it because it was not cool. YLB Im veery sorry your dog died. :(

I hate you, mainly because you remind me of the old me. But there's hope for you, maybe you'll get better like I did. If you do, people will hate you far less.
And one thing, someone calling you a dumbass isn't immature, you acting like a little crybaby about it is.
(sorry about the double post, but the two topics are different, and I'd already posted when I discovered the prodigy known as DaveMason.)

He's a fake account! Why are you bothering answering him?
-
YLB, so sorry to hear about your loss. It may or may not be of any actual comfort to hear strangers on an Internet message board care about your loss; I hope it helps. Take caring wherever you can get it in life.
-

If he was really a fake account, I think I'd have figured out who he really was by now. I mean seriously, I've kept track of all the fake accounts on PEEL for awhile... and for some reason people actually talk to me about it (mostly cause they think I'm all the fake accounts....)
-
Huh. I decided to get MSN messenger, and all these people's contact's pop up. I scared.

That's why I avoid MSN like the bubonic plague.

Oh well that solves it!
If Winna doesn't know about something then it just must not be true!
-
I believe both sides at the same time on the if DaveMason is a fake account.
For the side for, this evidence:
Location: Georgia
Interests: ICQ, AIM, chat programmes, MSN
If you don't notice, it says he's from Georgia. Then, in the interests, it spells programs programmes, the British and almost every other country that's not the U.S. This is evidence only if he meant Georgia as in the state and not the country.
For those saying he isn't a fake account, look at winna's post. I believe he's not a fake account, since nobody would post here since 2001 with a fake account and get to Urban Legend. And because of believing him, this suggest that DaveMason isn't a fake account but a real person.
For me, I don't know which.
------------------------------
I have only a few people on MSN right now, so I don't really use it, but I sign on all the time.
-
Dudes. DaveMason is winna. Look at all the damn emoticons. And the fact that winna posts immediately after about 40% of DM's posts. And usually defends him, or denies that he's a fake account.
DaveMason = winna.

Yesterday I got back from an OU residential school in Mallorca, and you guys just volunteered to be bored. So briefly here’s the highs and lows:
+ Not being responsible for someone else for a whole week
+ Using some cool ‘scopes and imaging software
+ Getting the chance to do some genuine spectroscopy
+ The scenery, (relatively) dark skies, wine, women and song
+ We didn’t go anywhere near Magaluf
- Changing your sleep pattern from 23:00 – 06:00 to 05:00 – 12:00 turns you into a zombie
- A CCD filter wheel failing at the start of a time-critical data acquisition session
- An as expected total failure in the seduction department
- A 90-minute delay for the return flight
- I now have a project report to write...
There’s also the disturbing tale of the observatory cat, but that can go in the rant thread.

I think DaveMason is "real". I don't believe it's some Peeler who posts among us as normal but creeps in to dance with DaveMason in the pale moonlight.
Points to anyone who knows what the "dance with someone in the pale moonlight" reference is.
-
Satan?
-
Unless I'm mistaken, Joker asks Batman "Have you ever danced with the Devil in the pale moonlight?" in the first batman movie.
But I could easily be mistaken.
-
Ya, he does. It's replaced as "the stupidest question ever asked in a superhero movie" by "Do you know what happens to a toad in a lightning storm?" in X-Men.
-
I haven't seen the first Batman in years.
-
It was on TV a few days ago, I only watched a little bit of it though :p
-
Batman 2 and Forever seemed a lot better, but back then special effects and CGI were taking the first steps.
-
@TMC: You can't pose a challenge only to cop out and give the correct answer after only one person (especially winna) has taken a shot... I guess it won't earn me any points to say that I got it, even before you dared us to spot the reference.
-
Well, he wasn't the joker the first time he said it, but that's just being pedantic.
-
In all technicality I got it correct Pikka. I just rephrased it in the form of a question. Also nurdy, you're totally wrong, all Batman movies after Returns totally sucked; because they weren't anything like the first two, which were great because they went back to that original dark direction that was Batman; whereas the later movies took that outlandish path into whatever the hell they wanted I have no idea what to call it, and also they changed batman... multiple times.
-
They gave Batman nipples. Who the hell would make a suit with nipples? That's just wrong.
-
I liked some of the architechture in that one with Ahnuld as Mister Freeze, especially that observatory. But that's it. The rest of the whole mess was crap. I'm looking forward to Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins. It looks promising.

I got into gigaville.com's mailbag (http://www.gigaville.com/mailbag7.php). Or rather, about a third of my original letter did. I'm posting this here instead of in a more appropraite thread for two reasons:
1) M0le's probably the only one who cares.
2) He's not on AIM right now.

Yes, yes you are a bad person. Everyone knows that a pair of rusty pliers will inflict much more pain during a nipple-ectomy.

I was driving home from work today in the right hand lane (doing the speed limit) and this guy who must have been right on my arse trying to speed past me suddenly overtakes me and zooms past, cutting right back in front of me....(I wasn't looking in my mirror but he must have been there for a while)
Then he stuck one finger up out of the window, and the other one in front of his rearview mirrow....the double bird....!
I laughed and waved at him....wanker....
I know technically you're supposed to go in the left lane if you're going slow to let others past, but I was doing the limit and he was speeding....
-
But people who are doing the speed limit in the line you're supposed to use for overtaking others are still extremely annoying.
Says a person who usually drives speedlimit+20km/h.
-
mmm, that happened to me.
I was driving in the left lane going the limit, and i jsut saw some lights right on my arse, and iw as thinking, maybe i could speed us just a bit to please him, but i decided against it. Then about 10 seconds later, he overtook me, and i saw it was a police car. Close.
-
Melllvar: You were missed, unlike the ghost of the PEELer who was once Jeremy.
Oh, and thanks for the ti, FC, I won't get splashed by the blood gush.
-
I almost did 70kmh past a cop car in a 60kmh zone, and Im only on my L's!!
The other day when I was at the skate park I heard another skater say 'sweet zombie jesus', was not expecting to hear that but I did laugh

Yeah but if I'm stopping him from speeding, I may just save his, or somebody else's life....

Not if the person you're stopping from speeding gets really pissed off. Then your very own life might be in danger.

Crap. I'd hoped for cardinal Danneels since he's from a village near my town. I can see its church tower from the attic window.
-
Aw, I was hoping for Cardinal Richelieu :(
-
So I'm in this game of Assassination at my school. I managed to get my first target this morning by ambushing her outside her English class (thank God for thefacebook) after screwing up twice yesterday. I was excited.
Then some fucker did the exact same thing to me outside Discrete Math. Bastard. I can't help it if I always leave that class half-asleep from boredom.
Also, good for Germany. Go Bendict XVI. Woo.

Yeah, I was wondering about that? When did the Test/Winna flip occur?
EDIT: TOTPD! I'm so excited! This is a fresh start; a new beginning!
...
*soils himself*
-
Well, Winna started the "zest" thread. After that ran it's course, HJS opened the new test thread called "everyone is a winna" Then, after that one was done, newhook opened this one. He just likes the idea of naming threads after winna.
-
We need better puns on Winna though.
-
I like this title making fun of winna's fake accounts though.
At least that is what I assume it is a pun on...
-
If anyone could help me find an instrumental version of "Still" by Geto Boys I would be greatly appreciative.
-
At least that is what I assume it is a pun on...
It's either that or Nick's disturbingly verile.
The Winna pun thing is cool, but it's harder, even if only slightly, to think of puns for "Winna" than "Test". Still, no complaints from me, a test thread is a test thread.
Although i have some doubt whether a Winna thread is necessary a Winna thread... :p
-
I vote we call the next Test thread "You could be a winna too!"
Anyone who doesn't agree with me is Richard Simmons.
-
How about: "Inside Every PEELer Is A Winna Waiting To Get Out."
-
I was worried no one got it, Nasty. Guess it does just suck. :p
Yeah, it's supposed to sound like some crappy sweepstakes, but it refers to winna's fake accounts. :p
-
OHHH, NOW I get it! Thanks, Captain Obvious.
For the record, I actually laughed when I saw this thread title... I think naming test threads after Winna is MUCH funnier than the stupid puns on the word "test" - even if there's really only one joke to it.
-
I think you'd be surprised how many people wouldn't get something as obvious as that.
-
Anyone else heard of As I Fail? They're a good band. I recommend buying several copies of their newest CD. Their lead singer will have sex with you if you buy their CD. (If you download it, he'll masturbate to a picture of you)
-
Duh, of course I've heard of them. Apparently they're all the rage with hip, TXT-ing, iPod-toting, young people these days. The NME thinks they may just be the next big thing. They've even invented a new genre in order to hype them - something that the NME almost never does.
If I was someone in high school who wanted to appear really cool and incredibly indie, I'd rush out right now and buy all their stuff. That way, I'd be able to get pissed off and angsty when radio starts playing their stuff whilst telling everyone that I was into them before they were fucking trendy. And, face it people, there is nothing that will win you friends and influence like saying you were into a popular band before they were cool..
-
Did I miss the chance to poke fun at an Emo kid?
-
"You Winna some, you lose-a some"
Test threat, Italian style!
-
I vote for Slacky.
Why has the term "hardcore" become something that can describe both emo and that particularly horrible kind of stuff that Scooter makes?
I'm looking forward to the day a Scooter/My Chemical Romance fan attends an actual hardcore gig and gets thrashed about a bit in the pit.
-
Possibly because hardcore is such a catch-phrase for wanna be's.
Plus, it's real easy to mock. Come on! Who hasn't, in a moment of sinister pleasure, adopted their most grungey, throaty voice, pointed at an ice cream stand and bellowed: 'Man, that is fuckin' hard-CORE!"
-
Poking fun is one thing. Being a Scooter-afficionado is another... "I viel hahdcoah!"
Is it true that there is a long version of GIR's "Doom Song" from Invader Zim? A friend asked me if I could locate it, but I can't... Can any of you?
-
You numbskulls, always turn to song for answers:
"Everyone's a winna baby, that's for sure!"
-
Little early? It's only page 17.
So. Um.
Look, a Headcrab!

can anyone who follows Penny-Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com) tell me what the hell has happened?
-
The last two comics, as far as I can tell, have been done seperately, the first comic just by Tycho (hence shit drawings and properly spelt words) and the second by Gabe (hence good drawings but with retarded writing). I thought the second one was great.
-
yeah, i gathered that much, but where has gabe gone? i was laughing at "i can't stand him anymore" but now its sorta looking serious.
-
I think it's no more serious than when Skoo makes a cartoon for Weebl & Bob or the Weebl's Stuff site. I think that people who can't stand looking at each other might also stop collaborating on a webcomic. I'm confident that it's just a gimmick.
-
Chay: If it was serious they wouldn't be making comics at all, would they?
-
I stopped reading Penny Arcade 3 Months ago, never looked back.
-
@M0le: My point also.
Another of my points coming right up:
Did you read the reason? Apparently, the world of webcomics is split up in three waves.
1) When webcomics emerged- pure drawings, image editing and writing.
2) The rise of Flash- everybody could make semi-decent quality artwork, and everybody did, flooding the market.
3) "Self-important" (Tycho's own words) critics pour onto the internet, and this new twist in PA's evolution is the removal of the constricting element (Gabe), to rid Tycho of all bonds, so that he may express his own artistic abilities freely, to suck up to these critics...
I say it's a hoax. A pretty good one, even if people are not meant to fall for it. It's just meant to be great fun, I think.

Would a thread such as this (http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33140&page=1) be PEEL-accepted? I reckon it's a cracker of an idea. Although in OTS's case it was ruined by idiots. We can avoid that though, can't we? :p

Ha. Remember when Nurdy used to try to blame it on his cat? Then his cat came on and denied it. God, I miss that cat.

Hi Jeremy.
-
Hey babe.
Wanna make an Irish sandwich? I'm the bread.
-
I'll get the pudding.
*leaves for a few moments*
-
I have this sudden urge to register my Cat on PEEL.
-
My friend's cat died recently... so I've been making "meow" noises whenever I'm around him.
I know it sounds cruel, and I WOULD feel bad... if the cat's name wasn't Faggy. I mean, who names a cat Faggy?! That's just asking for insults.
-
I baa at a friend who's from New Zealand and tell her racist sheep-fucking jokes.
-
Faggy? That poor cat.
-
My friends cat is named ratchet, wierd to name something after a very useful tool
My cat Worf, is named after a star trek character
I found out how quickly I can stop yesterday. I skating, I went over the triangle when a biker snaked me, I was at speed and in the air at the top of a 5ft ramp, I quickly got. The biker slowed down and steered towards me. I almost missed the biker except the rear wheel slowed me down even more and then the concrete finally stoped me
-
maybe its ratchet from the game? thats sort of a cat.

Nah, that's more like something Nasty would do.

I did register my Teddy Bear a while ago. I think I gave him the name Whoopwhoopwhoop

Nah, I'd register my commie hat first...
And wait, didn't that PEELer, Davey have an un-healthy obsession with his cat? He might have signed his cat up.
-
Yep, its name was Mr Spock, if I remember correctly. I don't know whether he'd really signed it up or not, though.
-
Dag...germanfryfan does remember everything. Hey gff, what color are my eyes?
-
More importantly, GFF, what colour is JICannon's underwear?
-
Even more importantly, GFF, what color is the next girl to post here's underwear? He probally knows. :p...or is it more of a :flirt:?
On a more unhumourous/unweired note, GFF does remember alot of things. I remember the one time...wait, I don't remember that. But GFF probally does!
And for something completely different, I played floor hockey today. Yes![with arm pump].

Thanks for stereotyping yourself.

At least it's better than screwed up GIF colours.

-
...How did you get your lip caught in a money clip? Or should I say, how can anybody get their lip caught in a money clip?
-
Oral sex?
I know, but I just like saying it...

Nice chainmail hotpants Eggs.

sorry to get on topic, and of all places, in the winna thread. I didn't want to start a thread for it, and i couldn't be bothered searching. Buuuuut, in Spanish Fry, has it always had that Spooky Door outro thing?
EDIT: my "s" ran away, but i caught him and shouted at him. He learnt his lesson and is now ready to cooperate
-
Yes, it has. It was originally a cut scene from The Birdbot of Ice-Catraz, though - but it has always been in the Spanish Fry credits.
Man... feels weird posting about Futurama at PEEL...
-
Brief update on my real life:
I went to a wedding yesterday for one of my dad's old work buddies. It was pretty fun. Also, seeing my father doing the chicken dance was one of the most hilarious/emotionally scarring things that's happened in a while.
It's my girlfriend's birthday. Yay. I'm off to Abuelo's in like half an hour.

Hey! I are take offence to dat.

Just thought I'd let everyone (i.e. M0le and maybe Slacky) know that gigaville now has a forum. (http://www.gigaville.com/forum/)
If I ever fully migrate, that shall be my new home.

ANZAC Day, have you hugged a 'roo today mate?

I did that once in 1997. I was distracted.

If I didn't find cultural ignorance funny, I would take so much offence to that...
-
Hooray! It's ANZAC day, the day all Australians and New Zealanders celebrate being big losers.
It's the one day of the year we get to appreciate how English sportspeople must feel the remaining 364 days of the year.
-
Wahoo! I'm a professor. Sure took me awhile...
-
The rank that takes longer to earn is all the sweeter when it arrives... or something.
Congrats, anyway.
Ben's right, though. Our most culturally important military event is a crushing defeat. We rock.
-
Thanks SJM :)
-
There was just a maccas add for ANZAC Day. They really piss me off, its shameless promotion, the line "They may all be gone, but we still remember" gar! great a giant corporation remembers!!!
-
Don't forget to kick your local Churchill doll into the big bonfire.

Meh. It took me twice as long! [/Weird Bragging]
Anyway, congrats!

Ooh, I saw that today. I'm not the kind of person who gets angry easily, but this really pissed me off. It's a thinly disguised ad designed to make it look like it actually cares about the people who gave their lives in World War I.
EDIT: A message from Lampy in the abode of the banned:
Lampy:
A lot of them seem to be under the impression that because I got banned, I'm not going to lurk PEEL anymore. I am always lurking...ALWAYS. I have read all the posts in that cowboy thread, especially Capper's heartfelt jackassery.
-
Hehehe, jackassery. Nice.

Typical bloody Aussie attitude...
Despite it being true...
This is the last time we're teaching you any sports - ungreatful cads.
It's like after we liberated Basra some of us thought we'd teach some local boys to play football and they thrashed us by 10 goals! 10 Goals! After all we did for them! There's just no justice for Britain in this day and age...

Why did this http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/12-002362-7/ (http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/12-002362-7/) thread get to page 7 without closeing? I think somebody when to sleep at the wheel. It should have been closed by now at least I thought it would be.
-
Because its funny
-
Haha!
-
And you posted in it Hojew, several useless picures I might add!
Also, learn how to link, 4 years is plenty a time for UBB schoolin'.
-
And quit posting random crap, either learn the rules or leave the thread alone.
-
Is it just me or is Hojew acting weird lately?...
-
She acts like a female winna.......well, ok, she acts like winna.
-
Winna's a guy!?!?!?@#!111

Well done, thats worth a custom title!!!

Speaking of Anzac day, probably all the people in Australia are very happy about the holiday. My sister sent me an e-mail recently mentioning how happy she is because for her its sooooo good to get Monday off work to rest & do her own stuff.
-
Yes, they gave their lives so we might have a public holiday.
-
Sig Test:
-
So why did Lampy get banned
-
mArc did it and I'm not sure why but bart said it was for "constantly pushing peoples buttons"
-
<_<
>_>
...
*beep*
God, I'm funny.

We Celts don't have a yearly holiday, and we gave our lives the longest. That is even lamer. At least give us a day to party with the ghosts of our ancestors. Doooooo it!
-
ANZAC Day's the best public holiday of them all. (it has tigers!)
-
Ahem, Nurdy, we Celts have plenty of yearly holidays - they've been merely rebranded Holy Days, like Christmas, Halloween and Easter (and have been rebranded again by Commercialism - so they are now celebrated by everyone, not just Celts or devout-Christians - so the windfall comes our way)
Aye, it's win-win!(?)
-
@Futurama Nerd, You realise i was joking right?
-
ANZAC day: another pointless day where I accomplish nothing. One of my friends is born on ANZAC day, so he always gets the day off for his birthday. Lucky bastard.

Still not good enough.

ANZAC is during the school holidays so it doesnt affect me much
