um.. mine switched back to my old custom one again. is that supposed to happen? i tried going and changing it, but my custom one only shows up as zoidberg and the hand.

It's there Zeep, press Ctrl-F5 to do a forced refresh.
If that doesn't work, run Disk Clean-up and clear out your temperary internet files.
Yours might be the same Merc.
EDIT: Yeah, i can see it now.
For those wondering:
- To switch to your custom, select "Custom" from the avatar list, it should be at the top.
- If you've switched and it still isn't working, do the thing that i said to Zeep.

The problem was that you didn't link to the picture, but to the whole webpage (.htm file)
Click on the pictures properties and copy it's url, next time. :)

The Pickelhaube was Ben's idea, if I remember correctly. I did the moustache when I was pretending to be JBERGES. Rage cheered us on at every opportunity. SlackJaw and a deleted scene were responsible for the original naked-Farnsworth-in-a-Beetle-wig avatar idea. GFF made the original, and Kyle M made the current version. Collaborative, yo. Just, you know, to give credit where it's due.

Click on profile at the top of the page, put in your password, and select your custom avatar.
It will be named "Custom" at the very top of the list.

Ka-boom is right I checked it up it’s not Aki, it’s another final fantasy character Yuna. I intend to use Aki as my new avatar because my guy thinks I look like her. Aki is one of my nicknames he made up for me.
So I had got it fixed in the avatar shop. I will use Yuna as my new signature instead.
Sorry I don’t play with computer games, I did not realise it’s another character I thought it’s a picture of Aki I found. :D

There is quite a problem with black backgrounds since the lines of the scans are black as well and you need a contrasting color to set as the transparency. You could delete some of the lighter pixels around it, but that would cause the lines to look edgy. :hmpf:

This chick belongs to an advertising for ringtones in Europe. Jamba in Germany and Jamster in the UK.

2. Yes. Any "better" imaging software should do. These are for example gimp (freeware), PSP or PS (expensive, available as trails though), and many more...

4. Yes that is possible, but not seen with pleasure. Scan them, so that you get rid of any jpeg artifacts and get clearer colors.
5. No. It's all about practising.

They don't automatically get uploaded. When enough time has passed, GFF makes a .zip file, and, whenever he gets around to it Slimmy uploads them all. (usuallly just the custom. Who knows when he'll do the pool.) Untill then, we just have to be pacient.

I'll make the zip file as fast as possible, the guy we are all waiting for is Slimmy and he needs his time. The last upload (only the custom ones) where made in late April, so we got to be patient some more. (When I was new here we had to wait up to 4 months)
The Pool ones get updated once a year (or even less frequently), the last upload was about half a year ago, so that it'll be much longer till these will be available to the public.
I guess that you want it a bit faster than to wait this year, so I add it as your custom wish.

Hmm, that's one of Kyle the Great's early scans. Sadly he has left us some months ago, don't aks why. I miss him, because he was a great scan artist.

Nope, SlimmyCGEF does the uploads, now. Before my time there was Drippy_taco who did it.

@dr.bender nye: Do you want it to be uploaded to the Pool, so that everyone can pick it. Or do you want it as your custom. So that only you can use it.
The first option (Pool) needs lots of time to be done, and I don't know if it is even going to be before christmas. For the second option (custom) it would be a little bit early, though.
Right now I have added it to the upload list for pool avatars.

Yes I noticed that Shaucker still uses her X-mas avy, too. I'm wondering why she hasn't switched back - her original avy is a pool one - or requested another, myself.
About FF1's avys: She's drawn them herself. She's a really good artist and only needs help to resize them down, improve their colors and make them transparent, which I do normally. ;)

By all means make it transparent. I don't have access to a decent package that can export transparent gif's at the moment. Keep using friend's PC to logon here and post.

They are all in the file. The Nibres are in the 98 avys I'll add from me. Plus the several ones of other great avatar artists.
Be patient, I guess they won't be uploaded within this year. And if they'll be it'll be around Christmas. After all, Slimmy decides when he uploads them and even if new Pool-avatars are needed.
It can happen that he won't do it at all.

You have to wait until the great Pope Slimmy uploads it.
Once he does, there will be a note underneath the avy list saying that you have a custom avatar available for use. Then, scroll down the list and up near the top is an option to select a Custom avatar. Select it and save.
This is of course provided that Slimmy uploads the list of avatars, so until that happens, you'll have to wait.

Yea, like I said tons of times. Pool avatars aren't uploaded on a regular basis. There are more than 1200 avatars in the pool so far, those should be enough for now.
The upload probably won't be done before summer next year, and moaning to have them uploaded probably leads to nothing more than more waiting.
If you really want that avatar, use it as a custom.

However, when I convert it to .gif it gets around 5kb big, which is too much. Or I have to save it with 58 colors only. Here is the result:

hmm... Professor Zoidy, the first one you posted is a pool avatar, which you can easily select already. You don't need to have it uploaded as a custom one, just go to you profile and chose "Fry Young Gold (b1)".
So far I have added the second one you posted as your custom wish. :)
That one will be available for you to use, once out admin has uploaded the file I made. Can take quite long though. :hmpf:

As told in the complaints thread I have given gff the power to upload avatars himself, he himself will upload avatars, he'll decide when to upload them, and we discussed things together and decided NOT to upload them every time people want a change. I believe this will spoil them and the personal character of the custom avatar will lose its purpose if a member changes too often. He'll probably make a statement about his policy on the avatars soon...

I don't even know what avatar I had when I joined. I just know that in February 2001 I had that Justin Berfield avatar mArc made(haha, anyone remember that...) and then I had that Fry in shades one VF made. I had that one the longest, at least 3 or 4 years I'd say. Then recently I changed it to one I drew and sadly I got complaints about it (you guys suck!) so I made a different one and GFF made it 3dish and voila! New Fry in shades! :D :love:

Probably your browser's cache has saved the old ones. Hit CTRL+F5 refresh the page's cache. To clean out the temporary files every now and then isn't too bad either. ;)

How it works:
I'll collect your requests and store them on my harddisk until I feel like uploading them. I guess I'll do it once a month, in the last week of each perhaps. This of course is only for custom avatars.
The next POOL upload won't be before Christmas, no matter how much you cry. :p
One thing more, don't get a new custom avatar every new month, it is a previledge to have one. It should reflect your personality, and not be a gallery that changes. ;)

Beside that the Avatar Shop is messy and full of pictures, I claim neither the Avatar Shop, nor the avatar upload thread ot be my own. I'm not the only guy who can edit pictures to avatars, and if it both would happen in one thread it is even more tricky to lose track of people's wishes.
So it'll stay like it is, avatars will be edited in the Avatar Shop, and here in this thread you only ask for them to be uploaded. It's easier to notice for me here. ;)

How it works:
I'll collect your requests and store them on my harddisk until I feel like uploading them. I guess I'll do it once a month, in the last week of each perhaps. This of course is only for custom avatars.
The next POOL upload won't be before Christmas, no matter how much you cry. :p
One thing more, don't get a new custom avatar every new month, it is a previledge to have one. It should reflect your personality, and not be a gallery that changes. ;)
