Announcement Log

This thread serves as a log for announcements that do not necessarily have any meaning after a limited amount of time. We will still first post announcements in thread-form but then after a while merge them into this thread.


First Announcement: I removed many of the Information Booth threads as they contained mostly irrelevant information from today's point of view. All the locked threads made it hard for new members to catch up on rules and guidelines.

We had some downtime today. The guy in the data center said it looks like a hard disk dying. Should be OK now.


UPDATE: So it was not the hard disk... will have to see if we figure it out. After having CGEF up and PEEL in maintenance mode, the server still crashed. This time around, we'll try having PEEL up but CGEF down.

UPDATE2: Problems are still ongoing. Hoster is looking at things. Doesn't look like it's our fault.

UPDATE3b: We're temporarily on peel.gotfuturama.com on the new host CGEF now uses. We'll do a full transition if things run smoothly from here on.


edit: Since we are on a different domain, old cookie-saved passwords won't work for the time being.

Small change in settings:

I introduced a new post-based rank with a minimum post count of 1: Popped Poppler. Unpopped popplers cannot set avatars/signatures/etc.

Reason: Account registration spam. We'll see how this goes.

EDIT: Removed popped poppler member group after changing some registration details.

Peel went down for a while yesterday as our hard disks filled up with backups. Changed settings around backup retention and got rid of ancient ones. Use the complaints topic http://www.peelified.com/Futurama-Forum-10/Topic-24004-120-Complaints_II.html if you see issues still.
