Hi, i'm new here...  :D

I don't have a great site devoted to Futurama but i'll soon be having a section about it on my site, you can see news about this on www.bits-n-bobs.tk   :)

And if you want more visiters on your Futurama sites, getting it translated into French would be a good idea because it would make another country or two able to read it.

But who's gonna do it for free?
Good news, everyone! I am!  :flirt:

So e-mail me if ur interested or post another message here.

Or don't bother translating it to French and let them learn English  :p

And if you want visitors to a website, try launching it when it's finished.

Fair enough they could learn English, but I don't see them doing that just to go on a Futurama website (even though it's well worth it), so it's in the person whose site it is interest to get it translated, and not for a Frenchy to learn a whole new language   ;)

Apart from 95% (Figure obtained by Aslate TM) of the internet being in English...

Seriously, i can't see webmasters translating their entire sites to French, i have over 100 pages on The Fry Hole and my French is limited to nothing. If they care that much, try Babelfish.

Ok, already can't see this catching on...
but if you look back, I wasn't suggesting that the webmasters do it themselves...

Number one there are already french sites... (maybe they died since french people are mostly idiots  ;))

Number two if I want more visitors I'll pull up my counter and "adjust" a few hundred times  ;)

Number three, I'm watching UFO shows right now! My point?  There isn't one, go back to france dammit!!!!!

anyway... translating sites isn't the best way to go. I think dubbing a show for one is a bad decision only made by countries that don't want to learn other languages. Anyway you don't see many french people on the internet, I Think they have their own internet ghetto's or something

Well if you had a foreign cartoon or show would you watch it to learn the language or for the entertainment?
Besides, people who have their shows dubbed actually prefer most the time watching it in English anyway, and I bet you there are more Frogs and other God knows what who do know English than there are English or Americans who can speak their language.
And by the way before you get the wrong idea, i'm not French i'm a Brit.
(Not tryin' to make enemies here, just enjoy having the heated discussions :p)

If I want a show in a dif. language, ill find it with subtitles and plaus if there's a site that I want to look at thats in a dif. language the google tool can translate whole webpages. And dubbing looks gay when its supposed to be in another language.

okay well the google translator like all the other free internet ones is actually pretty crap so nothing always makes much sense..
But yeah i agree dubbing does look gay, and it's really rubbish when the voices are nothing like they're supposed to be.

And I don't know anyone who cares about the Czech Republic or Slovakia...

anyway many starting sites believe that putting their site in multiple languages will open to bigger public, but it won't, they'll just end up with more crappy sites with less content because they have to translate it into a kazillion languages first

I don't mean to be rude here, but are you all jealous that HungryZoid can speak two languages or something, because your all attacking his idea when it will have no negative impact on you whatsoever, infact on the contrary, its for the better good of Futurama!!

We're talking about the time and effort of writing two Futurama sites. Translating every single page into a second language is time-consuming work and probably very inaccurate for most sites. Then you get problems with some pages in just one language, some in just the other. For the benefit of a few foreign visitors i don't see the point. Of course to make a real impact on the hits counter, you need to have at least French, German and Spanish. Why don't we add Swedish and ....

you nearly know 4 languages! I'd say that's rather impressive.
Anyway, I think it's about time this topic was closed. It's turning into quite a pointless unfuturamary conversation...
