Thank you Zed. I haven't submitted anything since last summer. (Actually I'm trying to get them to take my stuff down). But still, you guys just need to hush your mouths. Bitching doesn't solve anything. It just makes Teral come on and tell you that he just posted your art/fic five minutes ago and makes you feel stupid. Trust me I've done it I regret bitching, cause Teral has been a good guy always there for me. DON'T ABUSE THE POWER!

Yes ma'am. ._. I wasn't trying to bitch (and look I only did it once! That's a good record for me so far!   ..) and I apologize. I just thought the reason it hadn't been uploaded yet was because the format in which I sent it to them...(because I'm a lazy dumbass...)

In the queue:

Kryten's Catastrophe part 5
Dave Vincents Background Noise part 13,14 and 15
Mitch's The Full Circle part 4
Layla's Misery Loves Company

SoylentOrange's Talora
Missy's Cyclopes Mama, Martian Mama
Purple Fish's What if-machine
PCC Fred's The Fifth Season, part 4

So getting better all the time.

As for a redesign: certainly not among our top priorities. Maybe around #24 or #25, depending on how well our home brewery goes.  :p

Hey, you're the one who's trying to kill Fry. Besides, I don't think the site needs a redesign. I think it's perfect the way it is. It just needs more Leela, that's all.

A) Leandro has a life, complete with a job, paying bills, having to eat and keeping a roof over his head.  He probably also goes out on dates, possibly plays golf and tennis and in general, has things going on in his life that doesn't revolve around a website dedicated to a cancelled sci-fi cartoon.

B) At one time TLZ was dedicated to Leela, but since so many sites have gone down, Leandro incorporated the entire show into the site.

C) FM:TLZ almost went down for good last year due to financial problems with the server.  Only because some viewers donated money to keep the site up did it not go down (as a matter of fact, Leandro can confirm that not only did I donate money to keep the site up, I also offered to pay for the server for one year by myself if others didn't donate, and if he couldn't keep the site that I would financially sponser it in my name and keep the current team of mods - if that had happened I would not have changed one single thing about the the site).

D) Most of the currents mods live in countries other than the USA and are stuck with dialup instead of broadband.  When the site relocated last October, I know that Graham, Teral, Kif, Leandro and the other mods literally spent hours uploading the data.  These guys do this because of the love for the show, they don't get paid a cent to do this.  Here's a chance to thank them for a job well done.

E) If you don't like FM:TLZ's layout or message board or whatever, you can always start your own Futurama webiste and design it any way your little heart desires.  You can even have a special area of 'One Thousand Ways to Kill Fry' if that warms the cockles of your heart.

Heheheh.  "Cockles."

Sorry.  What I meant to say is, "what Ralph said."  Besides, I like TLZ's layout, even though it can be hard to find the Fan Fiction section when you're drunk and forget what the page looks like.

Yep. Links to pics on TLZ keep appearing and disappearing, and I try to open it sometimes and I get it, sometimes the main page becomes the fanfic page while remaining index.html, and sometime it's just nonexistant. I think it's going through some checkups and updates. Oh, I can't wait!

It's still dead.

Call Dr. 'Veins' McCraw.

Viens:  "It's dead, Zapp."

Of course PEEL is starting to show its age and for the past month has slowed down tremendously.  Several times posts have been lost and recently 3 pages of a thread have disappeared.

Nix fears that the board may crash and burn when the new DVD's come out, bringing back some old PEEL'ers and bringing in new ones.  I feel that he's being optimistic - I think the board will crash by the end of this year.

We should all make a pact that when PEEL finally crashes, we all reconvene in the PEEL thread in the websites section of the TLZ forum. Or if there isn't a thread for PEEL yet, create one. You know, so we can keep in touch. Figure out how to fix PEEL, still talk about 'Futurama', etc.

Perhaps a PEEL crash could be avoided if we did some housecleaning? Delete unused accounts, limit how far back our archives go, sacrifice spammers to the volcano god, that sort of thing?

The only 2 people who can prevent the problem is Slimmy and -marc-.  -marc- has real life issues, a new wife and is rarely seen.  Slimmy has been seen a lot over the past two months.

According to NOR, this software is ancient and should be updated, but if it's updated it should be something that's compatable with the archives and userlist.  I'm not a techie so I have no idea how easy or difficult it will be to do that.

As for sacrificing spammers to the volano Gods - they have their standards and would reject our spammers...

I wouldn't be opposed to a pay system - non-members could post 2 times a day but view all the topics and members who pay - say, 5 bucks a year would have unlimited posting priviledges.  That would cut down on the spammers who nymshift when they get banned and give -marc- and Slimmy funds to pay for server space and update the system without breaking their bank accounts.

Ralph: if they try to make me pay, I ain't coming back.  This is the internet: land of the free stuff and home of the torrent.

There are several modern, relatively safe and stable (and free) forum software systems available.  All we need are non-lazy admins.  Oh, and not phpBB.  That is made of fail.

Out of curiosity, why are we talking about this in the TLZ thread?

Gosh dern it, whenever I get admin-powers of sorts, the site crashes.

And feel free to suddenly all join TLZ message board, if PEEL fails. Just be prepared for more spam, and a lot of threads.

As for the '5 dollar' thing, I'm liking that idea. Maybe 5-6 posts to non-members, not 2 ;P

Seeing as to how I was willing to sponser FM/TLZ for a year last year, to me paying 5 bucks a year to decent websites/message boards makes sense to me.  It keeps the worthless spammers out and it doesn't place the financial burden on one person.  If somebody is damned cheap to spend 5 bucks a year to belong to a decent board, then they obviously don't care about the community.

That goes for FM/TLZ, PEEL and my beloved Harley-Davidson group.

And NOR, I don't think that the mods here are lazy.  Burned-out maybe, but not lazy.

They could always do what the Evanescence message board does. If you're not a paid member you can post till your hearts content but you can't have custom avatars as well as some other smaller features.

Or they're deathly and irrationally afraid of tradign credit card information over the internet (or worse, their parents are).   :hmpf:

I wouldn't mind having to pay for privileges, I suppose, but I admit I probably wouldn't utilize them anyway.  The "x-posts per day for non-paying members" didn't sound half-bad either, but I don't post that often here....

Whatever -mArc- and Slimmy decide, I hope the forum survives.  PEEL seems to be the hub of the Futurama community at the moment, and for that to vanish with little warning would... well, it would not be good, IMHO.

Then send a check for 5 bucks instead of using a credit card.  Pul-lease.  The same people who cry about protecting their identities are usually the same ones with personal webpages and myspace accounts that give out all their personal info except their underwear size.

The small fee would be to stop the nymshifters and spammers.  Running a website is expensive and time consuming - I've done it before.  Some people seem to think that the world owes them a living and that everything available on the net should be free.

I agree, and the same to Leandro and company @ FM/TLZ.  It would be bad to lose either or both of these sites with the resurgence of Futurama on the horizon.

@Ralph - If PEEL became a pay site it'd be the last you saw of me as well.  And it's not because I'm cheap, or becuase I don't care about the community.  Right now I can barely afford to cover the costs of being on the internet at all, let alone pay extra money to specific sites.

As for the admin situation, while I don't think they're lazy, and I do realise that most of them have more important things in their life now, the fact remains that they can't dedicate the time to maintaining the sites that they used to, in which case, what we need is fresh blood to take over these sites.
