I'm opening a new site! Problem is...

...I can't seem to figure out a title. Does anyone have any ideas?

In the process of site creation, I've had to dump that horrible old site of mine....what was it called again? (I seriously don't remember. Please tell me.)

my websites gonna be called 'oh, god! not another futurama website' [O.G.N.A.F.W] I'VE made buddie buttons, most of the contents, but need contacts, theres about 5 avaliable. we have telstra ADSL brourdband[sp?] so we have room for it problem is...we dont know how.

It's Broadband. Be careful hosting on broadband, if your upload is too low then your site will be extremely slow, especially if you plan on putting bandwidth-heavy features on it.

Yeah, but what's the main focus of the site?

Is it a Fry site? A Leela site? Hermes? General? Technology of Futurama? etc. It would be a bit stupid to suggest names before we have the answer to that question, don't you think?

Flash stuff? I think that would do reasonably, only SS Futurama does anything similar but they've not had many updates/additions lately.

Why is there always so much negativity to people wanting to open up Futurama sites? Now more than ever we need more sites on the net - not less. Besides, so what if some content is duplicated, other sites die anyways and if they do there will be a newer site to take its place.

Bofra, You could convince some other site to open a flashsection (Or "Bofr@s corner" ) and let it use your stuff.

Or submit it to some site that already have such a section.

If you for some reason decide not to choose "The fighting Mongooses" you could go with Cohens nice little mixup:

"Aint no such thing as to much Futurama"

Or another Standard:
"Nothing but Futurama" or you can replace Futurama with a character name if you decide to make a site about one of them.

Or why not mix them up a little ?:
"Nothing but fighting Mongooses"

1) fry2006 already had site and it died.
2) i dont think anyone can make general futurama site better than CGEF
3) i dont think anyone can make better character site than Fry Hole, Leela Zone, OAOB, etc...
4) there're enough futurama sites already.

If you want to create a new site, which is fine I guess- it couldn't hurt, but it wouldn't do much good...anyway, first you need a one area to focus on, otherwise I don't see the point. Then pick a name from there...such as if it's flash, then "The Futurama Flash Zone" or something.

Fighting Mongooses is a cool name, would be a cool band name...

1) Indeed he did. I too think he will abandon this.
2)Maybe they can't but they can still make an enjoyable site worth visiting a couple of times.
3)But you can let them try. And maybe they do make a good one.
4)Because a well made Futurama site is enjoyable and browse-worthy.

True, but how does that equate that his new site will suffer a similar fate? One example is not a good base for drawing wide-ranging conclusions (source: Statistics 101).

I don't know, Planet Express.dk was pretty awesome, and TFP is too. You're probably right, but why should that mean people couldn't try? It's like saying IE6 works great, don't waste your time with crappy Linux and Opera junk.

That still leave Zoidy, Farnsworth, Cubert/Dwight, Kif/Zapp plus the various species. And who even said it was a general/character site. Maybe it's about the technology of Futurama, foods and drinks of the future, or something entirely different.

There's nothing wrong with having an opinion, what is wrong (in my opinion) is the way you phrased it. He made a genuine plea for help, and you just jumped on him, rather than helping with the question asked.

Oh, and a little rule of thumb I live by: "don't dish it out, if you can't take it in."

It all boils down to: why should we discourage people from making Futurama sites? Some of those we have now is bound to die sooner or later, wouldn't it be great if new sites were ready to take their place when that happen? I don't recall anyone telling Andie Planet Express.dk were all we needed as a general site, when he told about his plans to relaunch CGEF. Everybody supported mArc when PEEL came back, even though The Hip Joint was around. If people want to make a Futurama site, I say go for it! If it's good, awesome. If it's less good, awesome that you tried.

I could probably see you banning me in a childish retort with some "witty" caption for saying this, but it needs to be said anyway. You seem to be on the war path a lot these days and a lot of your agression is directed at people who don't deserve that heat. Chillout man, same goes for Teral who isn't being so helpy mchelphelpful by adding fuel to the flames.

I disagree.  The best Futurama character site ever is Ain't No Such Thing As Too Much Amy Wong.

Now, those sites that you mentioned, they're good sites, but they lack the borderline insanity type of devotion to the character that Andy's site has.  So, unless you're making an Amy site, you certainly can make a better character site than the ones already made.

If you are making an Amy site, you can't make a better one than Andy's, but you should make it anyway, because, after all, there really is no such thing as to much Amy Wong.
