Just telling everyone that FSAC has a new look to it, made by Paul. New version of menus, new format, completely revamped. They even changed the classic: What's Hot.    I understand this is all about an anniversery or something. So check it out. Now.

Looks like Kev beat me too it, then again I have been on a subtle PEEL hiatus, but I'm back if only temporarily.

Thanks goes to Kevin, Jamie, Andy, Kryten and the numerous others I bugged while the design was progressing through to what appeared yesterday, coincedentally on FSAC's 2nd Birthday.

To be honest I don't like certain parts of it that much..

Its a nice layout as such, but the grey/metally background for the title and links column in my opinion is ugly. If this was replaced with say, a block of colour that looks good, then I would think the layout would be greatly improved.

As I say just my opinions

I wanted something that looked a bit different to every other Futurama Site, but everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I was expecting some Flak about the Metallic background.

It's a nice design, but I really miss the old nav. That one was more fancy-looking than this one I think. It's still got the nice pop-up rollovers, but it's not the same.

Overall though, it still looks nice.

Actually it's pronounced champagne.

Looking good. I like the new menu system. Easy to navigate, and you don't have to scroll to get to different menu-groups. The grey color lloks good in the header. Not as fortunate around the buddy-buttons.

Frank Sinatra: He did it his way.

In conclusion: great work. 2 thumbs up.   :)

Me and Jamie are busy making adjustments to the site.  I'll try and find a way of highlighting the buttons, or make them standout better.

Couple of quick comments:

The grainy morphing affect on the menu is kind of annoying when you're trying to browse the site as quaickly as possible.  Kind of bloated.  IMO, not needed.

Is the 'add to favorites' ever used on sites? no one ever clicks it.  If you take it out, it might look less cluttered.  Also, the chatroom, guestbook, and pition buttons are also kind of an offset to the layout.  No one really signs guests books anymore, and if they do, its from getting the link from the nav bar normally.  As for the chatroom and such, up to you.

I think the layout might look a little 'smaller' if you shrink the images a little.  Leela, amy, bender and fry seem really big on my screen even at high res.  If you keep the top header the same size, i think itd be good shrinking the footer just a little.  cause it takes up half the screen, and no one really cares about footers.

"Whats up" is also pretty big, and IMO could be centered better to the left right under the update.

The blue boarder on the ad is annoying.

On the right side where you have buddy sites, is it really needed to have two stat buttons, an art.com button, and a top50 site button?  and 'any damn browser'?  That stuff bloats the website, makes it load slower, and isnt on topic to futurama.  I'd scratch it if i were you.

Now, on to the sections:  I dont really like the way when you click an image, it "morphs" into a window.  all this just seems to distract me from the art and makes the site load a lot slower.

And, my last rant is that 'http://sites.planetexpress.dk/' hasnt updated in a year.  so why have him listed?

But all in all, good site  :D  it just seems to load slowly on my cable modem.

</end of rant>

As a matter of fact, I like this new layout. The old one was getting kinda boring, and Paul spruced it up a little bit. Good work  :)

Yeah, gotta agree with voices here. You're using five different fonts for titles throughout the site, which looks kind of cluttered. I'd put the chatroom and guestbook links into the menu bar and give the grey table BG and the main content table a 1 or 2 pixel outline, to make it a bit less 'floaty'. I'd also put the ad where the alien text is, so the header is actually at the top of the page. Love the character pics though, as per usual.

Now that you've  seen the *swishy* new look to FSAC, which happens to be my first ever attempt at a website design, so I never expected perfection, plus I'm working on a few changes, listed above when time permits.

I'd love to get some new submissions of Fan-Art/Fan Fiction and the likes.

It's not just a Paul's Art site anymore, it's become a General Futurama Fan Art Site and without submissions it could implode, the same goes for any Fan Site as well, be it CGEF, OAOB, TFP etc etc.

I take it you don't send work to other sites then?  Because all fan sites are in the same sphere when it comes to art.

I do promote non-scan art work, otherwise, the submitted art area wouldn't be full of the diverse nature of talent there is, yourself included.  As for me, I've admitted in the past that my hand drawings resemble works done by Dali.

I don't intend on changing the name of the site, as that is what it best known as.

Some people are not "artistic" enough to put whatever they envision in their heads on paper/pixels/wall size mural etc...  I would be one of them.  I have tried and failed at scan art, yet I have seen some truly outstanding scan art by many talented people here and elsewhere.  To call scan art crap just because you are capable of stepping beyond "just an easy way of making wallpaper" don't for a second assume no matter how much cheap booze you have consumed that scan art reqires no talent of effort.  I have slaved over a few grabs with my primitve photo/painting software and lack of expierience.  Even though the results were not very good, I felt I had accomplished something.  If it were left only to the folks that can come up with totally original interpretations of other people's (more talented than you) animated cartoon series'.  Than the Futurama art "community" would comprise of nothing more than a bunch of elitist snobs saying "I can do that".  Futurama art is for every fan to enjoy and create.  Please don't place limitations on what Futurama art is allowed to be.

Well, if you really want to look at it that way, Voices, it could be said that any fan art is a cop out, because you're just copying another person's established concept instead of developing a concept of your own. At least when making wallpapers using scans it looks right. I'm yet to see any 'fan artists' actually get the 'look' of futurama right. I'm of the same opinion about fan fiction, but that doesn't mean people should not be allowed to make it.

I agree with Ben. I don't read fan fictions for exactly that reason. The jokes, actions, etc. all seem forced. Most seem to be just a face for a romance novel. The only one I've ever finished was by FishyJoe, and that was because he realized that he wasn't going to be perfect and he wrote it so it was funny.

My point is, I don't seek out threads that are ads for peoples latest fanfiction and tell them why what they are doing "takes basically no talent or effort at all". I leave them be. The only thing that takes no talent or effort at all is typing up reply's while you're smashed about why other people are stupid.

I don't mean to insult you too much, I realize you are entitled to your opinion. You are equally entitled to be wrong. Just don't go around passing judgement on other people. Next time you get the urge to be so "honost" have another drink and go to bed. The name won't change, the site won't change, and I doubt very much that your boycott will make any difference at all.

Voices, mind if I ask why you read this thread if the site doesn't interest you? If you did it just to be negative, maybe you shouldn't drink. I have a few friends who get very negative and aggressive when drunk and they have learned to avoid situations where they are likely to cause trouble.
