Yet again the phrase, "There's a new Fry site," has to be used, because there is.

The title of this thread correctly suggests that this new site is called The Fry Hole, and can be found at http://www.thefryhole.cjb.net.  It was created as the two sites, Fry Online, and Fry By Investigation merged. These sites are no more, so please update any bookmarks, links or whatever you had to these old sites.

Any feedback, submissions etc would be greatfully received, as would notification of errors found on the site.

Now over to aslate.

*edit* Sorry ben, main page wasnt ready, we realised after this post so had to change the address's temporarily.

Yes, Fry Online is now gone. When i decided to re-design it, i consulted Mitsui about a merger and it all came from there.
I'd like to thank anyone that helped on Fry Online, it was fun but now i've got The Fry Hole to work on.

Nice work guys. Looks very good (I think promising was the word you used). Nice layout, good sections and more content.

Good luck in the future.  :)

OK, now I see a few pictures. Let me start with saying that it's good to get a *single* Fry site instead of two when we have like no other character dedicated sites.

Now the bitching     :p keep in mind that this is mostly what *I* think and that I have no reason to just make things look bad, but want it to improve:
    • The header is too big, 305 pixels means that 50% of your visitors will see hardly anything else when they go to your site at first.
    • move thing's that have to do with your site as such (meta content) some place way down (layout history, site faq, about the site, add to favourite doesn't go into a menu at all).
    • stay fry. I can't stress this enough. You need to give people a feeling for you site. They need to think "ah, Fry info I want". Offtopic (general Futurama) things should be kept to a minimum. I myself would have a 'what is Futurama' page for those visitors who just stumble over your site but have no clue what it is about. An episode guide doesn't really add original value to you and people won't go to your site for that.
    • I myself don't like centered menu points
    • I'm still champion the move not to use news-entries for the main page on character sites that will in reality not have much news. See http://bart.tall-tales.co.uk  for a nice example.
    • PEEL of course needs to be the first of the buddies     :p
Don't get all these things wrong though, I like the site overall, the color scheme is nice and you worked on original Fry related content.

Well, PEEL's now buddy number one (how about making The Fry Hole a buddy?)
I'll be making that title pic alot smaller when PSP decides to work for me (i need a restart)
I'll think about re-laying out the menus.
It's going to be a Fry site, don't worry.
I may take into account an earlier suggestion to do an episode guide from Fry's point of view.
I may leave the menu bars centered just to annoy you!  :p

OK - done a new title pic, and added a poll so you can vote for which title you like best (I made two other pictures too).

mArc - thanks for the help - the title image was changed because of what you said, but for the other comments I think Ill keep them - it's not too big a thing anyway  :).

go through your damn sections before you open the site up...the support dection doesnt work (i wanted to find a button for my site to link to, but had to use the one peel has on each page) and the what is section dont work.

Also, i like the logo, but its too big, and the navbar is too plain.  Good work though and i dont wanna come off sounding all bitchy  :)

Sorry about sections that aren't working, our FTP seems to be quite unreliable at the moment.

To be honest, I dont think this is me, I think it's other dodgy ftp clients (programs), I havnt myself touched those files.
Also, Jon, ask aslate for it - he got it.

may i suggest you reupload the entire site using leechftp?  or flashfxp.  both very very good ftp programs.

also, aslate, could i use it?  :)

Hmm, you may aswell, i did take the trailers off the Fox website, so you can too.
Also the FTP thing. The program i use works fine but the FTP server is sometimes unreliable and gets cut off during uploads and it's hard to trace which pages don't work.

No its not!

What is up with this host I don't know. I havnt been able to connect to the ftp as well, again, the fault is with the host, not with either me or aslate or the ftp uploading program.

Sorry about this, keep checking back to see it's progress

I'm relocating it temporarily to a new address. It'll be a backup address if the main site goes offline.

When accessing The Fry Hole it's probably better to use our new  http://www.thefryhole.cjb.net  address.
Since we may be doing some web-host skipping for a while it's best to use this to keep up-to-date.

Well, The Fry Hole is temporarily down (well, we're trying to close it down - if we can upload the "closed" file anyway).

We're closing it temporarily as we're having major hosting problems. Any help on this matter please let me or aslate know.

Thanks

And we have switched hosts again! This time for good (if it works right). Just go to
 http://thefryhole.no-ip.com
For a bannerless, pop-upless and addless site! All our old links re-direct there anyway.

Sorry, updating can be a bit random. Both me and Mitsui are busy with things like school ect. and so can't update frequently.

Costs nothing, unlimited space. If you want the details mail me.
