IGN's episode reviews are an absolute joke. Horribly inconsistent, simply getting everything wrong. Here's a few examples on how badly they've screwed up: The Late Philip J Fry: 7.5/10 Into the wild Green Yonder: 5/10 (after scoring all the others higher) The Futurama Holiday Spectacular 9/10 (That's just criminal) Neutopia 9/10 (Some might agree with the score, but I thought this was a pretty bad episode). What do you guys think of IGN's reviews?

Usually I just shrug off reviews I disagree with on the basis that my opinion isn't the only valid one and they probably have good points for their scores. But scoring the Holiday Craptacular higher than TLPJF (and one point from perfection!) just completely baffles me. I can't begin to imagine what the hell they were thinking.

I think it's just a matter of more casual viewers appreciating Futurama as a laugh-out-loud funny show, instead of this crazy mix of sci-fi and drama and comedy and romance and what have you; they prefer the sitcom aspect, not the space opera stuff. I've noticed that most people I know who are casual viewers (that is, the people I've managed to wrangle into watching an episode or two with me) like the bawdier episodes; I have a friend who seemed to really like "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela," for example, whereas I just think of it as an average episode that's nowhere close to something like "The Late Philip J. Fry." So I think it's just about casual viewers appreciating the more superficial aspects of the show, while us nerdlingers appreciate its various layers.

They are fucktards at times, it's true. They should just stick to games and be done with it...

I don't see why someone on a website's opinion is any more or less valid then that of someone on Peel or some blog. Its all speculative. I don't agree that it's all speculative. Some episodes are better than others regardless of what someone says...

IGN is only good for Video-Game reviews IMO, not Futurama (Or any TV show-Movie)
^ So true.

AV Club are generally pretty solid for Futurama reviews, despite a few minor disagreements I have with them. I wouldn't even bother with IGN outside of their video game coverage.

I agree with you Beamer. AV Club's reviews are great and I always look at what they give my other favorite shows.
Their rating system is pretty much redundant anyway, but the content of their TV reviews is usually dead-on.
