Well, the current "new look" isn't so good: I'm getting an "under construction" domain page fulla pop-ups. Leandro? Everything okay?

looks the same like what happened to fsac. The dns servers point to mydomain, mydomain points to 216.148.221.150 . 216.148.221.150 has no clue what tlz is, so it shows "under construction". Also, the MX-records (mail exchage) are pointing to m.dnsix.com, so I wouldnt send confidential mail to *@leela.com.ar at the moment unless leandro tells that it was meant to be that way.

Nothing to fret about. As far as I understand it, our normal DNS managers are having problems, so the domain is using our previous ones which blacklisted us when we had that spat with Fox (hence why you're seeing that page). Things are being done to rectify this, and hopefully it won't take that long to do so.

As for emails sent to *leela.com.ar (like those mailto addresses you find on TLZ to contact either Leo or myself about stuff you want put up on the site), keep sending through there, as there's no problem with that side of things.

You should really remove the invalid backup DNS servers there (mydomain) when they can't provide the real address. A failure (no ip) is better than a wrong ip usually. Your normal DNS server (aux|ns)1.hn.org seems to be coming back and sends the mails through mail.leela.com.ar again, don't think that m.dnsix.com did so, too as I got "550 rejected: administrative prohibition" when I tried, but not sure.

Well, TLZ seems to be back now. Let's hope it stays that way. *fingers crossed*

Marc, the back-up DNS server problem is to be sorted out soon.

As for the email problem, it worked fine for me (checked that for myself at the time of the DNS problem), so I don't know what you did to make it not work. Anyway, that's now moot, as all seems to be working.

Not to screw things up totally, but I just tried to email something to tlz - twice - and twice got a no-go. Email trouble persists for some users...

Marcus.

Hmmm... seems that I'm partly wrong about this. I can send to my leela.com.ar address from some email accounts I have, but my Yahoo one can't seem to and sends back a 550. I have had a couple of emails from that leela.com.ar account today, so it does look like it's a problem for some but not for others. It looks like a continuation of that DNS problem we had, ao hopefully it will be resolved quite soon.

Well, still send to those leela.com.ar email addresses anyway; unless you're a spammer or a victim of a virus, in which case don't send as I have a lot of that stuff already. If you receive a 550, then just wait till tomorrow or the day after and send again. If it still doesn't work after that... swear to yourself and promise to send Gort a mailbomb for telling you yet more of his usual rubbish. :)

Everything's always my fault... yeah, yeah... Ruben did this, Ruben did that... well, this time it kinda is my fault... When TLZ (and myself) received the C&D Letter from FOX we were fearing MyDomain would kick the domain out, so I rushed to move the domain name to hn.org, but since I wasn't sure about what MyDomain would do, I let its DNSs as backup... a few days later MyDomain blacklisted Leela.com.ar, and since the domain was already being transfered to hn.org the downtime was only of about 1 day... or something. When that happened, I was too lazy to change the domain name details again, so I let MyDomain DNSs as backup... earlier this week hn.org had some problems, so the DNSs were dead and the rest is history... now I'm changing the backup DNS servers, but soon the domain name will be in Smooove's DNS servers (the DNS servers need to be registered in nic.ar first... *sigh*)... something that should have been done as soon as I closed the @leela.com.ar webmail service... but then again, I'm too lazy!!! So fuck it...

Now you may be wondering, who the fuck am I? what the fuck am I doing here in PEEL? why am I even explaining this to you dorks? :) I have no idea...

Anyway... all this looks pretty much like what happened to FSAC... maybe the "Futurama Hacker" hates TLZ too... Gort!! What have you been 'wrapping'?!?! :D

/me goes away and promises not to come back again

Um...can somebody translate all that? Is TLZ okay or nay?

Also, what IS the deal with FOX and their freaking C&D letters? (That's not so much a question as a rant, but if someone would like to expound on it, by all means go nuts. Has everyone with a Futurama website gotten one? Does someone have a copy online I can peek at?)

Finally, Ruben mentioned the hacker. Anyone got an update? Can anything be done about the yutz?

BrainSluggo: I still have Fox's C&Ds (two word files and the email's body). mail me to leandro@leela.com.ar (or leandrotlz@mydomain.com if @leela.com.ar is dead) and I'll forward 'em to you so you can have a "peek&quot ;).

As far as I know, C&D regarding Futurama were sent twice to TLZ, once to Frcr back then and once to rotten actually for posting futurama feedbag stuff i think. Wonder what Mr Wilson's biz is on rotten ...

The problem with with TLZ was what I said before and Ruben explained some more: Each domain has at least 2 DNS servers telling which IP number goes with which name. If one DNS server goes belly up, the next takes over. The mistake with TLZ was that they had 2 (4?) additional back up DNS servers listed which jumped into place when the usual 2 went down. Problem was that these backups had the wrong IP number. Problem now is that the correct numbers by the correct servers take some time to propagate to the people as DNS uses multi level caching and the two hn.org servers are still having some problems.

[edit: one L in Wilson ...]

What's a C&D?
static

Starship Captain

a C&D is a so called "cease and Desist" letter that is usually sent to sites that host "improper" or "illegal" content.

A C&D has been sent to almost all futurama sites AFAIK and it contains orders that the site should stop hosting the content.
It has been told to me that FOX wants to have fanfics, fanart, futurama audio samples, videoclips and well... practially everything taken down.. go figure.

They're afraid that if Futurama gets too much publicity, people might actually watch it.

What Static said is true. Fox wanted us to take down the fan art, not just the video and sound clips (DVD or not). Funnily enough, they didn't mind the framegrabs, but wanted to have copyright text under each grab. So, maybe in their eyes, we should have renamed TLZ into Fox Screws All Creativity.

Ruben, I think PEEL has drugged and rendered you helpless. :D I suggest that after the effects wear off and the soreness subsides, you go and write that article that'll pay your wages. ;)

nah, as much as I hate FOX for the treatment of the show, I'm not going to antogonise them, by temporarily renaming the site myself, and not by outside forces of evil.

also, that background has beent here for months! its a crime!

Has good reason why TLZ isn't in the constant links and they know the reasons. I will shorten the list to 2 x 5 while LiC is down I guess.

Maybe if Marc would venture down to where our link buttons are (at the bottom of the page, where all sites' link buttons reside), he'd notice that PEEL are also included there.

If it's for any other reason, like Graham cheering when Ireland scored that last-minute goal against Germany, then I plead guilty. :D

...logging in to PEEL after 58 days...

Well, so far, positive reaction! And I thought that the layout was going to suck bigtime since I finished it in four hours (I was really sure that the 27th was the SUNDAY for some reason, and I didn't realize it was today until my mailer Becky! told me).

The orb thingy is the first thing I completed for the thing... I could have trashed it, but it looks cool, and what the hell, took me a while to figure out how to do those with just PSP's shapes, gradients, textures and filters, and I was going to add it. The first thing I did for the layout was a picture tube with screws, and once the layout was nearly complete I realized I had only used six screws! So I started screwing everything that could be screwed (well, I always do that, but this time I really mean the word) and that's why the buttons/counter has a hellalot of screws.

Also, this is the first layout I've done in Windows XP, with my harddisk NTFS'ed. If you're wondering if this has anything to do with not using any plugins at all... you're quite right. I forgot to copy the "Plugins" folder to the 60GB harddisk before selling the old harddisk... :P

Anyway, what else's been going on in this thread for the past 58 days... oh, the buttons. Oh well, never mind. Too bad Graham didn't tell me at the time or I would've posted something. Whoa, I didn't realize I missed most of the ranting at the bottom of the first page. Yeah, there were server problems in the 1000th day online, but not on my side: the stupid server was saving all the access/error logs in OUR space, and that filled up the 600MB quota in two days. Couldn't upload anything and was quite angry so I just trashed the damn layout. Doesn't matter, I'll put one up the 1000th day since the reopening, that'll go better with the 666th day since the reopening and stuff.

I think that's all. Read you next layout...
