So it turns out I know the guy who runs infosphere.ru. Either a freaky coincidence or the internet needs to be about five times bigger than it already is.
It's a small online world. Turns out, I found svip's webcomic fairly recently. Thought "how many svips can there be?" and turns out I was right! One and the same.

Every time I go to the Infosphere I get the following error...

Quote
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I click "don't send" on the error report and then luckily I do manage to get the page up most of the time. This happened yesterday as well, but no other site is doing this to me, only The Infosphere :hmpf:...

Really? Why are you using IE?

Erm, I mean, which version of IE/Windows are you running?

That's really weird.  But I cannot verify it myself as I have no access to Internet Explorer.  So my only suggestion is try another browser or upgrade your Internet Explorer.

I use an old version of IE I guess, not sure which one but perhaps it's an older one. I raised this issue though as this error only comes up with The Infosphere and not any other site of the many I visit...

Hmm, looks like we're running an alpha version of mediawiki, which has just gained a fix for something in IE6.

Go to About -> Internet Explorer. If that says IE6, then shame on you.

Yeah, IE6 is not on our list of supported browsers.  Like Google, I think we should confine ourselves to only support the last 3 major releases of each browser (so IE7, IE8 and IE9 for IE).

Hmm... well then I don't know what is wrong.  Tried upgrading to IE9?

This is what happens when I click the link...

But then I do get the page and a little text bubble comes up at the top left temporarily...

I guess I should upgrade then...

Hmm, I just downloaded IETester. It seems the issue only comes up on IE8, not IE9, IE7 or IE6, just 8.

Hmmm.

That's strange, also I can't download IE9 because it requires Windows Vista or Windows 7, and I have XP :hmpf:...

Opt-out.

FireFox

Chrome

Opera

If you want Safari, you'll have to find it yourself.

I'll look into this IE8 thing more later.

Safari

Yeah, but Safari is the worst browser around if you only count the current version numbers. IE6-8 are obviously worse.

A problem I've been having:

When you start to type something into the search box, for example 'Futurama', I will begin to type 'Futu' then 'Futurama' will appear in the drop down box, but when you click it it always comes up with whatever you type instead of taking you to the page, e.g.:

There were no results matching the query.

Create the page "Futu" on this wiki!

Stop reaching inside.  Just use your arrow keys to select it instead rather than your mouse.  Surely that is quicker.

My hands are off the keyboard until I need to type. I'm always on the mouse. Except when typing.

I tested The Infosphere in IE7 and I had no issues.

If it's okay with Svip and whoever, I like to upload pages and give them an infobox and an image, but leave all the details and whatnot for others to fill out.

Well someone has vandalised the front page.

This fortnight's featured article:

Bob is the favorite character of DXC and Mat, he first appeared in that episde where bender hit Fry on the head in the scene where Leela is buying cofee.

Upcoming episode:

Pollice

This week's spotlight article:

Next time, write me on my user page on the Infosphere rather than here.  I get an email when you do that.

But thank you.  I have now cleaned it up.

This fortnight's deatured article:

They changed the "F" to a "D"? That's not exactly serious vandalism. :p

I know we aren't supposed to post complaints in here, but someone called 'Hoovercollectionfan' seems to be adding every year, decade and century known to man, I mean are they all even necessary?

Example.

I've made changes to the article on TLPJF after noticing that the time travel section as it existed was quite wrong, and largely nonsense at that.

It was going to bother me if I didn't fix it.

There are LOTS of people who are exclusively on one or two of those pages, or only go to one mainly and the others once in a while.
But some do use all 3 regularly and equally much.
