Now that Futurama has officially became a part of Comedy Central's animation line-up at the start of 2008, they have put up a site about the show on their website. Check out the forums before they get swamped with the nonsensical "casual viewers"!

 http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/futurama/index.jhtml

P.S.: The character descriptions on the site are the weirdest I've ever seen.

Well, for starters, the first thing I noticed was that they call Planet Express 'Galaxy Express'.

It seems PE (or should I say GE) is trying to increase its target market to go along with the move to a new delivery network.

I can't say their site completely fails at itself...but it's pretty close.... The episode previews have weird names when they could have easily used the real ones and it's sad they put Galaxy Express....  :nono:

Thanks for bringing some sense to it, but on behalf of all of us hardcore fans, be kind and don't alienate the casual viewers who are just checking it out.  Smooth-talk them like the way Zapp thinks he is talking.

also on amy's bio it says she likes to play with boys on her free time, that's only true for about 2 seasons of the show, and even so, it's extremely poorly written

Visiting the site today, I noticed that the complaints of the community has gotten the web page designer to change "Galaxy Express" to "Planet Express". It goes to show that Comedy Central cares for its fans.

Bios of characters should generally be written for newcomers to the show.  You don't want to spoil the show, but at the same time you want to try to give them an idea of what the show is about.

I've had the same problems explaining Leela's character, who we knew in season 2 was a mutant.... That's not something that needs to be spoiled for a new fan though.

We didn't find out that Leela was a mutant till Season 4 (Production Order) so that should be left out anyway.

All the BOX network does is cancel good sitcoms and pound us with reality shows

They got the good sitcoms on the air in the first place, didn't they?  It's a company, and they look for profits.  Bender couldn't push sandalwood, and Futurama couldn't hold an audience in a shitty timeslot without advertisement... the world goes 'round.  Thank goodness people came to their senses.

Maybe you didn't know until then... but the internet community had guessed it by season 2.  Watch the episode I Second That Emotion; specifically look in the background when Leela, Fry, and Bender are with the mutants right around when they hear about El Chuba Nibre.

But you're right, to the undiscerning eye, the revelation of Leela's mysterious past doesn't come about until later on in the series, so we shouldn't spoil that fact to newcomers.

Now, this site I truly loved until I got into PEEL!!  It's more of a beginners' site new to Futurama on the internet!  I go there, still, to see if any clueless new fans need steering to PEEL!!    :D
