hmmm.. then it has to do with the overall internet connection from my host eh? having said that, almost 85% of the webpages are dynamically generated from the database. anyway some pages like 'update your details', 'log off', faq, help etc should be pretty quick because they're mostly html.

the only thing that i have noticed so far is the pause, long pause, so i suspect it has to do with the server busy reading from the database and drawing the pages etc..

by the way i just uploaded a copy of the site to http://www.palmy.net.nz/vse/index.html,  if you don't mind can you please use this url for a while (everything's the same) to see if it has anything to do with the domain name registered with godaddy.com!

Fixed the link. Watch those commas.

I don't know, the times vary like anything.  Sometimes the site is really quite fast, sometimes it can take minutes before anything loads, if anything.

hmm.. i'm more convinced it's just our NZ gateway to the world is congested, which isn't unusual at all. but i have talked to my host to investigate this, if he found out the server's under heavy load, then maybe it's my poor coding  :)

Well, shouldn't the coding only affect things when it's logged in?  I just timed my non-logged in loading for the front page, and it was 46 seconds, though I've had much more.  IMHO it's the connection, but I don't know.  In any case, the site works, and it's good.

nah.. 46 seconds is ways too long, maybe quicker if i email you the page  :) have you try http://www.xmoo.com  ? that's the very first page with few images and text only, no scripts. if this page takes more than 15 seconds to load, i'll need to discuss with my host then!

I just did it now, it took 12 seconds.  Though I'm on cable in Australia, so it should be fast.

thanks

Yep, it's going damn fast now (9:52PM AEDST), so it looks fixed.  Though admittedly, this is probably also very off-peak.

yes, there are more movements on the site too, i guess everybody's just sick of waiting in the last few weeks!

anyway, due to demand, and with the growth of the players, i have incresed the shareholding limit to 10,000, that'll stir the market a bit!

Yay! I finally have more than 5000 shares of something. The problem is that last night i spent most of my money becuase i didn't know that it would go up today!

P.S. Also anyone know when the next episode is and what it is? I want to know how long till dividend time.

P.P.S. Any way of making the money becoming Audited more quickly. I want more money!

I'm with you aslate.  I reached 5000 in all the major characters, so I spent it on less desirable ones.  If I'd known I could get more major ones, I wouldn't have spent it.  Though I'm owed like $4k in incomes, but basically nothing has been audited.

since we don't have any episode this week, i'll pick one of the old episodes, which one? you may ask, hints as follow:

(1) definitely not "Put Your Head on My Shoulders"
(2) definitely not those already counted
(3) i like continuity, so there should be two possible episodes  :)

Uh... any news with the simpsons episodes?  I spent a fortune on them, and they aren't paying a cent.  It's a bit unfair that those of us who use the simpsons board don't get paid until weeks into the game.

seeing that i'm not able to keep on downloading/watching all the shows, unless someone is willing to help out with simpsons' character possession stats, i'll start crawling a few websites/newgroups and each time a character's name appears it gets $0.01 per share. how does that sound?

I sold 1000 of my 2000 Kif for $10 each!

This has also thrown the whole rankings into termoil (some are up by 153!) I suggest a refresh of them now the price is back to normal!

Kryten, "Where the Buggalo Roam" is not aired yet, 2-3 weeks from now, "Put Your Head on My Shoulders" is coming soon, and if you hold on to the share you should make a profit by selling it right after "Put Your Head on My Shoulders".

disclaimer: this is no insider info, just my personal view of the whole trend at the moment  :)

I've bought 3,000 Zoidies, but then I realized I should have stuck Kif in my portfolio instead. Why did Zoidy's price rise the last few days? Did it have to do with the valentine episode?

zoidberg's always a popular character in the market, he has been the most traded character of the day for a few times now. but that $8 is a mistake from newbie who obviously didn't read the FAQ, Forum etc, and got caught up by the seller's price.

How the hell did you sell Kif for $10?  There is no way that's a legitimate player, that's just stupid.

yes it's a legitimate one, i have seen his/her name in PEEL too!! i'm now considering putting cap on the seller/buyer board, ie you can you list $xx higher/lower than the last price, but it's not a free market then is it?  :)

what do you guys think? this is the 3rd case, after bender $20, zoidy $8.....

Yeah, it's completely ridiculous.  One sale like that, and one player suddenly has gone to number one, at the expense of a player who clearly was either mistaken what they were paying, or not a serious player.

I know it's interfering in a "free market", but it ruins the game if a tiny number of players get a massive advantage through something so stupid.

okay now the site starts to verify any overly priced selling/buying requests, we'll see how it goes, but this restriction will probably be lifted later on.

okay there's another way to make some credits in the stock exchange - by betting who's the first loser in this weekend's Aussie Grand Prix. more details on the site.

hey will, i just thought of an exploit. Someone gets an account, buys some stocks, sells them for a realy high price, gets another account, buys them at a high price so their first account is going really good, and keep doing this with multiple accounts til their loaded. you should probly have some way to prevent that (ip check?)
will
Crustacean
*

of course the check is already there. if two players are trading with each others and with close ip range, i'll keep an eye on them and ban them if necessary.

and it's quite impossible to list sell at a high price because other lower price listings will get sold first. but all in all, the ip reference and trading history will reveal who's cheating.

oh forgot this: if you have any suggestion to improve the security and especially the problem with player registering more than one account, please let me know.

it's becoming more important when more things are at stake, such as the possible futurama DVD auction.. you don't a cheat to win that DVD do you?  :)
