Sorry to disappoint you

but I won't join a Futurama-forum that calls itself "#1 Futurama fan Forum", with only exactly 2 members and that copies the transcripts 1/1 from The Leela Zone:Futurama Madhouse or The neutral Planet.

(PS: these may or may not be copyrighted to TLZ:FM / TNP, ask Teral about that, ask the admin of TLZ:FM / TNP for permission anyhow)

Hence why it says 'Need members'. So, you think this is the only site that has the transcripts of Futurama episodes. What a delusional life you must leave.

I know that that webpage is not the only site that has transcripts on Futurama, but I don't need to do a word by word comparison to every single on of these 72 transscripts to see that they are completely the same as on said webpages.

And just for your information, you may call my delusional, but at least I don't open a Futuama fan forum on an unprofessional free forum server and call it "#1 Futurama Fan Forum" knowing that it just started without any real content.

I wasn't the one who named it. I was just trying to get some members. So what, all 'good' forums have to be non-free forums. 'Any real content', did i or did i not say that we wern't finished. Besides, this site hardly has too much more.

I take that these sentences you posted are questions, so to give you some answers:

Of course there good forums on such servers, however to "look" more professional and to differentiate yourself from all the other forums (just look into other threads of this sub forum of PEEL, you'll find tons of fan-made forums that were started and died soon after) on such servers. I'd at least recommend to customize it, and that not only with different colours.
Also the advertizing of random stuff - not only on top of the page but in posts as well - is kind of odd to the eye. 

About the content: Well PEEL has been for more than 6 years by now - not that means there is no chance for new pages - but it was linked with a lot of Fan websites that backed it up with content. It was taken over by the team of CGEF and is still run by the same staff, both are payed and owned by the same guy and hosted on the same server. Meaning that PEEL and CGEF are directly linked and so the content to PEEL is hosted there. Hope that clears things about the content a little.

Unless you have written permission from Smitty of The Neutral Planet using those transcripts is very bad form. Those are his original work, and shouldn't be used without his consent. Whether other websites use them or not, doesn't give you carte blanche to steal other peoples work. And yes, FM:TLZ have permission from Smitty to use his transcripts plus we give him full credit and link back to his webpage.

Otherwise looks nice, maybe cut down on the number of forums (particular the meta forums) until your messageboard become more active and established. Mayn people are turn away when they're presented with an abundance of forums (and it dilutes the activity of the individual forums (better to have 2 forums with 500 posts each than 10 forums with 100)). Uhm, bumping a thread from from #1 to #1 in a forum achieves exactly nothing (except annoying people).

A few other pointers: people wont join because you ask them to (the "please join"s), they join because they think it might be a good please to discuss Futurama and meet other fans. Restricting forum access to members will severely hurt you in that regard. Afterall most people only join after they've snoped around a bit and seen if the forum is interesting and active.

Still too many subforums IMO. And "elite membership"? What's that about?

Since you're new to PEEL and probably new to Futurama - I'll also assume that you're relatively young (in my case, less than 20 years old).  There's more to a message board than having an updated software and mega-forums. 

PEEL is more than a message board - it's a community - a very diverse community of people with one thing in common - we all like Futurama.  There are people here that started from the very beginning - seven years ago, and every day we're getting new members.

There's the message board at FM/TLZ.  That board is rather active and large, but is populated by a younger crowd than PEEL (some of us cross over, but not many.)  They have their own community, their own member base and their own unwritten rules.

PEEL'ers may browse through your board, but I'd doubt if they will join it because at this time there's not much you can offer that PEEL doesn't.

PEEL is bankrolled by -marc-, who I understand has some sort of contact with David X. Cohen.  Any legit news that's available gets posted on CGEF and PEEL almost immediately.

Until the new DVD's come out, along with the new episodes on Comedy Central, there is precious little news and really no reason for more boards and sites to go up - they tend to be all alike and also tend to borrow/steal info from the older, more established sites.

Maybe this time next year will be a good time to get a new site/board running, but not until then.

Yea but you have to get established first yes I'm intending alot more fans will joins these forums when it comes back but there not going to join a forum that has 5 members and 100 topics there going to come to you

No. I joined because I liked the atmosphere PEEL creates, the people here are mostly nice. And it's quite active even though the creator is long gone.

You may like the atmosphere here, but i bet if you hadn't seen it advertised in the first place you wouldn't have joined. We are just advertsing it so we can get some members. It's working as well. We get on avaerage 4 members a day.

1. Cartoon Network
2. TBS every now and then
3. At the house of somebody who owns the dvds.
4. As of 2008, Comedy Central.

All other methods, whether downloaded or hosted, are illegal and thus considered out-of-bounds for discussion on PEEL. We *LIKE* not have C&D letters sent to us.

It's also incredibly illegal, morally questionable and not helping the show one tiny iota. Do you really think CC (or FOX for that sake) would bring the show back for good if they didn't think it was a sound business decision? Do think you providing people with free access to episodes is making that decision more or less profitable?

Plus giving out links or knowledge on where to obtain episodes is against the rules of PEEL. In fact it's a sure way to get banned.
