I just picked this up and I can't tell if you're supposed to be able to open his chest door or not? I don't want to use to much force and break it if it's not supposed to, does anyone know if you can?

I don't think you're supposed to be able to open it. Have a look for shops selling him on the net, see if they list "opening chest cavity" as a feature.

I've been looking at a lot of Futurama stuff on eBay lately and I think I saw one with the chest door open. That may have been the wind-up one though, don't take my word on it please!

I have the wind-up "Bright 'n' Shiny" Bender, the door does not open. Look at it closely and you'll see that there is no hinge, the metal goes into a slot and can't/shouldn't open.

You should be able to open up his door. That is half the fun of the toy. The only one that does not open up is the Gender Bender and that is because he is wearing a tutu.

You're only supposed to open it up a little bit.  I think I read on a review (and know from my own), that the door only opens wide enough to see the gears inside.  Maybe 32 degrees, maximum.  Also, you can't store Bender's cigar or booze in his chest cavity.  But it's still cool.
