Hello there. I'm just starting collecting the DVDs for this great show, but when viewing then in every other scene, each frame gets kinda blended with the next frame...allow me to demostrate.

This is a typical shot from the intro if the show, which comes out like this in certain episodes...as I say, this appears in about every other scene, and it's not the player program or the DVD drive... First I thought this was an issue with just one DVD but then I saw it was on all 3 DVDs in my pack so...yeah...it dosen't affect some scenes too much, but like "When Aliens Attack" where they attack the mothership...just gets ugly.

Are you Region 2 people getting such bugging stuff as well? Thanks for all replies.

You've got nothing to worry about. This is a basic technique for traditional animation. It's a way of blending the frames to create more fluid movement. You don't notice it when you're watching it do you. It only shows up when you pause or go through a sequence frame by frame. It's normal.
It's all to do with creating the illusion of movement. Look up "The persistence of Vision with regard to moving objects" by Peter Roget, published in 1824. He wne ton to invent the Thaumatrope, the first building block of all animation.

Oh I notice this allright. In fact I think I first noticed this during playback. This is really annoying in situations like a character shaking or some other fast-repeated movement, when this gets really stirred up. I still have to check if this goes for DVD players for TVs only, but there's noone that I know of at the moment...yes it might be the computer or perhaps it might be just because I'm using a computer instead of a DVD player hooked to a TV...which would be sort of weak, right?

yes... yes it would. especially since i almost *only* watch my futurama DVDs on my computer.

well, just try it in a normal DVD player.

Aw bugger, I knew that I'd steal an avatar from someone...but thanks for kind greetings. I shall try to find one that isn't taken.

Edit: Got a chance to try the DVDs on another computer using WinDVD (I use PowerDVD) and there was hmmm hard to descripe this in words...think of you'd remove all the colors from a frame, so you'd end up with a grayscale version of the frame...do the same thing with the next frame and then insert the colors extracted from the first frame into the second one...that's about what happened in this case. In excactly same scenes as my problem above appeared in.

I have the same problem with certain episodes (also region 2), don't remember which ones though. Fortunately it's only weird for a few seconds and only in very few episodes.
