Does the DVD player have to be able to switch to PAL or does the TV have to also?

By the way, I think the reason why they couldn't just encode S3 in R1 and release it in the US is becuase they have to make the DVD Box/Package different (which is rediculous). The individual disc cases are a lot thinner in the US, where as other countries, the individual cases are normal sized DVD cases.

That's not the reason for the spacing in releases, thecrashtd. It's simple marketing and to be able to release the products far enough apart for its fanbase to buy. They more likely felt that S2 would be spaced out enough to fill in the December/holiday season gap. You won't see Season 3 until the next shopping season.

Remember reading somewhere that Season 3 would likely come out one year after Season 1 did, and #4 one year after #2.

Was so hoping S3-R1 would be out by X'Mas -- but its not looking too good.  :(

Hoefully you mean March 9, 2004 :p.

But anyway, any news now is good news.  I hope it does come out on that date and not get delayed.  But who knows, maybe we'll get lucky.  After all, the season two DVD set was released two weeks or so before the original proposed release date.  We'll see!  Futufan, as usual, please give as any news as soon as you hear it!

Hmmm, not as soon as I would like (just for reference, I would like it to be availiable yesterday), but at least it is on its way.  What would be a resonable guess for a season 4 release given a march 03 date for season 3? Late summer?

March? Madness ensues...

Maybe we should stand at Fox Video front door (like Bart and Lisa) and keep saying, "Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please please, please, please, please, please please..."

Oh well.  At least Cartoon Network is showing the McSeason 5 episodes, and the season 4 episodes.  That makes me feel a little better about the release dates.   (and not to mention I'll be taping all of them)

The problem with Season 3 is the fact that I've only seen 4 of its wonderous episodes.

Actually, come to think of it, the delay in the release date give us a sort of advantage over the region two'ers, if you want to look at it on the bright side.  We have a full two seasons of audio commentaries to look foreward to.  But when the region two's are done watching all the audio commentaries, it's all over for them.  That's it.

That's a matter of opinion. Personally,  I loved A Leela of Her Own, but I guess it helps being a Bob Uecker fan  :)

Hi all! I live in the UK and therefore have the option of buying either region 1 or region 2. (F.Y.I All dvd players are multi-region, you just need to unlock them! - Message me with your make/model - I may be able to help!) However, I do recommend waiting for the US release because, well basically I like the boxes better!! Slimmer DVD cases a far superior! And I've read about the extra voice bits that'll be on the menus - sounds cool!

Anyway, that's all. I also prefer the US releases to South Park, Friends and Family Guy due to more time being spent on the packaging and extras!

Jim.
