I just thought some people might like to know that currently on the US ebay there's 3 Futurama scripts for sale. Unfortunately the seller will only ship to the US, which means I'm screwed, otherwise I'd buy at least one of them myself. But for Peeler's living in the US, this is a really awesome rare chance to own some Futurama history.

One of the scripts is even for 'Godfellas', one of my fave eps. And the other two are for 'Anthology of Interest II', and 'I Dated a Robot'. Here's a link to the 'Godfellas script, for anyone who's interested. Also they're really cheap at the moment too.

I'm not even sure if this kind of topic on Peel is even allowed, but I just thought some people might like to know seeing as they're so hard to get  :)

I bought 2 of them, they were $8 with "buy it now" so I figured why not.  Plus he had a 100% rating, and has sold other scripts for other series that people said were legit.

I have to agree with Grim about the no picture thing, but at worst you only loose your $16 bucks and shipping if they're just copies or something.  If they're legit, then you got two scripts with no hassle.  I would have grabbed one of them if I had seen this thread sooner.

i bought my roswell that ends well script off of ebay. it was great. Hey HJS are you EVER gonna post the script differences from your script? i posted the differences in mine. It's not like that script will disintegrate if you remove it from the plastic covering for five minutes.

If  the seller had shipped international, I would've bought those babies without hesitation. As McGrady said, you're out 8 bucks a pop if it's a fake, you have something to treasure forever if it's the real deal.

Edit: Venus, where did you post those differences? I think I missed them, and would kill (no, not really) to read it.

I might watch this item. There's still 5 days left, but who knows if a couple of PEELers will bid crazily by the end of the auction.

they arent original scripts, 99% of them are all copies... I have a simpson script and if I looked hard enough at stores in hollywood, I could probably find futurama ones too...theyre about 10 bucks each.

Well, when you think about it they are all copies and so what becomes the definition for original?

original= the actual ones given out to employees of the show with hand-writing all over them and not just photo-copies.

A script of an unproduced episode could be really interesting, an early (different) version of a produced episode could be nice too.

But a photocopy of a "final" script without any additionnal notes is not something I would buy.

Ok, the "I dated a robot" script I bought is official (not photocopied, has a fox sticker on it, and a cover, and colors).  The "AOI 2" was a rough draft with some changes, haven't had the time to read it, probably a ealy version (can't tell if it is a reproduction).  I also got a "Nibbler and the brain" script, which is a early name/version for "The day the earth stood stupid".

The guy said he bought a lot of scripts from a Fox charity auction, had a wide variety of shows.

I am busy until early next week, which will be the earlies I can update on what was added/changed/removed from them.

Don't you think they shoudl release a book of scripts anyway. I know it has little to do with actually owning a real one, but they can interesting/entertaining in their own right. I bought a book of Frasier scripts and it is great. I was laughing my arse off on Public Transport.   :)

Man, that'd be so cool!  But I don't know if they'd do it, considering that they haven't done it for the Simpsons.

I've got a South Park scripts book, it's pretty good. Hopefully now that Matt and his team know that Futurama is finished (face it) they'll start making these kind of books. I'd love a Simpsons style complete guide. This is an item that will definetly be made at some point, many people and Bongo have said so.

Sorry guys, I have been really busy (replacing the siding on my house).  It will take a few more days to get done.

The AOI2 script is pretty much the same as the episode, most of the differences are shown in the deleted scenes.  Will get into more later (although the professor says to Fry, "You are a Moronic Jackass who will never amount to anything!" instead of saying "Monkeys aren't donkeys!  Quick playing with my head" )

There are a few differences in "I dated a Robot", can't really remember them off hand.

At last but not least, "The day the earth stood stupid" script, which was originally "Nibbler and the brain" is incredibly different.  Not just a little bit, but almost every line has been hugely altered.  Most of the locations/scenes are the same, but the lines are quite different.  Also, Leela is Nibbler's pet according to Ken and the other nibblonian (can't remember her name right now).

Will do more in a few days when I get done.

And by the way, the Nibbler and the Brain and AOI 2 look like photocopies, except Nibbler and the Brain has a red stamp on it that has a name on it, Copywrite The Curiosity Company, Not to be Reproduced, Destroy.  It is covered with nastiness, to the point that I think it was pulled out of a dumpster.  Who knows.  The AOI2 is definately a photocopy.  The "I dated a robot" appears to be a legit script.  Has a cover and a stamp with the fox logo on it, and a card saying it is real.

Well, at least one of the scripts seem to be legit.  By the way, could you transcribe some of the most interesting differences in the dialogue in The Day the Earth Stood Stupid?  And I'm curious, what's the name of the other Nibblonian?

Male Nibblonian: Ken
Female Nibblonian: Fiona

Here's 2 excerpts from the script, towards the end (so you can see how different the ending was, and the lack of jokes)

INT. LIBRARY ? ANCIENT LITERATURE ROOM ? CONTINUOUS

Fry backs away from the Brain, eyes closes, surrounded by the aura, in the same pose as in the last scene.  He crashes into the bookcases behind him.  They Topple on him.

Leela: (Scream)

The dust clears.  The blue aura is gone.  Leela rushes to Fry.

   Leela (CON?D): Fry Dead!
   Big Brain: (TRIUMPHANT EVIL LAUGH)

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. LIBRARY ? ANCIENT LITERATURE ROOM ? CONTINUOUS

The Big Brain is in the same position, shaking as though laughing, but the room is undamaged.  Leela is sitting on the floor looking stunned.  Fry is writing as hard as he can in a small notebook, which the Big Brain?s aura reaches out to.  Fry reads as he writes.

Fry: The giant brain laughed because he?d killed Fry.  Then he left Earth forever.  The end.

The Big Brain SMASHES up through the ceiling of the room.  Fry slams the book shut.  It glows faintly blue.

Fry: There.  Now he?s the one trapped in the realms of thought.

?
(What I skipped: Fry sticks the book in a place no one will ever look at it again, his bookshelf in his apartment.  There are some other scenes, Hermes realizes several days passed, Amy freaks out about eating a roasted owl, etc.)

EXT. PLANET EXPRESS ? LATER
INT. PLANET EXPRESS ? CONFERENCE ROOM

Fry is standing in front of the gang.

Fry: ?and then I defeated the giant brain and saved the world.
Professor: Fry, that is so ludicrous it?s preposterous.
Fry: Look, Zoidberg was a moron, Amy was a ding-dong, Hermes was some kind of Jamaican doofus, and the Professor had no control over any bodily function.
Bender: Okay, but what happened after the brains came?
Fry: Leela, you remember being an idiot, don?t you?
Leela: Gee.  It sounds a bit familiar but?(GASP) Do you hear that noise?

INT. PLANET EXPRESS ? KITCHEN

Leela enters alone and crosses to the door.  Something is SCRATCHING on the outside.  She opens the door, revealing Nibbler, back in his usual attire.  Leela picks Nibbler up and cuddles him.

Leela: Nibbler!  Oh, my baby.  You ran away but now you?re back!
   Nibbler: (CONTENTED NOISES)

As Leela looks down at him, she begins to frown.

Leela: You know, I do remember something.

LEELA?S POV
We look down almost straight into Nibbler?s third eye.

Leela: (OS) (EXCITED) You were there, Nibbler!  There was a planet, and?

As Leela speaks, Nibbler?s third eye seems to grow bigger and bigger until there is a flash and the screen goes white.

ENTER BENDER FROM OS

Leela: Nibbler!  Oh, my baby.  You ran away but now you?re back!
   Leela: Look, Bender!  Nibbler?s home.
Bender: So you got your little dummy back.
Leela: You know, Bender, maybe having someone feed you, pet you, change your diaper, and love you like crazy isn?t so dumb after all.
   Bender: (Grumbling) Is too.
Leela: Come on, Nibbler.  Want to watch mommy take a shower?
   Nibbler: (VAGUELY SLEAZY CONTENED NOISES)

FADE OUT:
THE END
