Blu-ray is far superior to DVD. I have seen both, and would never choose a DVD over Blu-ray. Matter of fact, I threw out all of my dvd's and bought all new blu-rays once I seen the difference. Of course I have a 55 inch LED TV which is a kick ass flat screen so that makes up a lot of the video difference.
I hope you didn't literally throw out all of your DVD's? Sure DVD's may not be worth much, but I'm sure some charity shops would be happy to accept them if you had no need for them. I do agree that Blu-Ray is far superior. Anyone who thinks otherwise is clearly an idiot or has never seen one; it's factually capable of better results, no opinion about it. Blu-Ray's are very good shit! ...

I suspect you can find a number of Blu-Ray players for under $100. [edit] I counted 29 new just on Amazon: Amazon and FrysAnd I often see brand new discs for 12-15 dollars at the local grocery store. Now, these may be crap movies, but you get the point. As Zoidy says: start slow.

Tachyon's correct. Here's one under $100 (and I know it's a refurb. I just didn't feel like sifting through the ass load of pages). Also Blu Ray discs, after the film has been released for a while, drop in price. I've seen new, mint from the factory Blu Rays at $20, which is the same for a new DVD, and they've wound up in the cheapo bin as well at $8 so your argument is standing on nothing but unwillingness to convert. Also you could try buying used discs for a fraction of the cost. Further still I'm sure you could catch Blu Rays on sale or use a coupon on them. Convert slowly my friend. Start slow by buying the combo packs and work your way to acceptance. Worked for me. I wanted all the damn bonus features. Curse their brilliant marketing strategy... *shakes fist* Say, to make my post actually on-topic, does anyone have a complete collection of those Funko bobbleheads they made a while back? I'm still disappointed I never found Fry or Leela.

How the hell did they ever go up in value that much? I used to own one of those, but I stupidly put it on the windowsill and the sun killed it. In the end it leaked and put my windowsill into a whole world of goop. It had to be thrown out ...

Some sort of rubber I imagine, with liquid inside. It might have glitter in the liquid too, I can't remember. It smelt weird when it died...

Did you at least save Bender out of it when that happened?

I don't remember there being a Bender in it, but this was about 10 years ago. Maybe they didn't have Bender's in them then ...

Update: My Horrible Gelatinous Blob arrived yesterday! He was missing a little liquid inside I m guessing due to age/evaporation (I am assuming he was completely full when they made it) but still pretty cool with a Bender floating inside. And the person sent me Futurama comic #57, a couple postcards from one of the DVDs, AND one of the promo trading card tear out sheets from the 1999 TV Guide article!!! I know that because I have a couple I saved. Never found Fry though That was nice that they sent those little extras though. Totally unexpected!

He was missing a little liquid inside I m guessing due to age/evaporation (I am assuming he was completely full when they made it) but still pretty cool with a Bender floating inside. That's strange that he was missing some liquid, I'd have thought there was no way for it to evaporate or escape given that they are air tight. I'm still a bit perplexed that I don't remember mine having any character inside, as I'm sure I'd have kept the character if it had. Mine was really old though, maybe the original run never had them inside or something? I dunno... Whatever you do, don't expose it to sunlight for any duration of time as it'll have pretty much the same effect as it does on vampires...

Oh yeah, I took your advice from your first post and I am keeping it in the box for now, only to take out to play around with once in a while.
I don't think it is difficult to imagine that some of the liquid evaporated inside. I have many water globes from over the years, and even though when I bought them they were full, they are all missing some liquid now due to time, even though they are in glass. Mysteries of life!

My Bender and Fry Moore figures, enamel keychains of Fry, Leela, and Professor, and comics 1-10 arrived yesterday. I was looking through them to see if I knew any of the write ins...I did see one by "Anicorn" anyone remember her? Probably not...I only vaguely recall her from #fc about 10 years ago. Wow...time flies. Anyways all I need is issue 11 then I got all of them in their original comic form! (I already have them in the treasury books).

I'm fine with DVD, and am not paying an extra $200 for the blu-ray player. Also the discs cost a lot more. I'm just gonna wait until these things go obsolete.
Like others have said, you can get blu-ray players for under $100 and I hardly ever pay more than $10 for a blu-ray movie unless I buy it when it first comes out (even then I only paid $15 for Super 8 and The Help when they were released).

I just don't have the money right now to switch my entire TV show collections to blu ray. Like SGB said, I am going to wait until they go obsolete. I still have a VHS player on top of my DVD player and have many movies that way (all my tv shows are DVD, obviously).

I will, quit nagging me! I actually did take photos this weekend. I put out all my Toynami figures. I even opened Zoidberg, I know. I kept him boxed up for so long...he needed to breathe. Also Robot Devil needed a head. I will post this week as I am in the process of making my shelf above it Futuramgasmic too.
