At least it's not a long delay.

Plus, I might actually prefer it this way - I have an assignment due in the 21st and I don't know if I could hold off watching the DVD's for that long.  ;)

Damn! However, I don't really mind too much if it gets delayed, as long as they don't rush out a set with little polish I don't mind how long it takes.

That better not be because the f**king Two Towers special extended edition is due out on what would have been the day after, the 18th.

OK i'm not too upset because it's only a week. But what's the point of putting it back just 1 week!? Fox don't gain anything it's just frustrating for the fans!

Maybe there was a glitch in the subtitles or something that they needed an extra week to fix...

We have contacted the studio, and they have informed us that the
release
date of this DVD has been delayed.  They now expect this DVD will be
released on 24 November, 2003, however please know this may be
subject to further delays.

i know that most people have already got this email i'd though i post it anyways,  :( well only just over a month, so like i said no resenting to sucide, :D

At least we have the Season 4 episodes airing on Cartoon Network starting in November to look forward too. I think I'll probably wait though and watch them when I get the DVDs.

Anyone know why the release was delayed?

My collection is longing to be completed! That's probabaly why they delayed it, because they knew us Futurama fans are already used to getting treated like shit...

I know why... like Otis P Jivepunk said that Futurama fans said that we'll get ticked off, but also including to that the wait to get us ticked off so when it's released everyone will won't to buy, also there working on the Simpsons DVDs but still since Futurama WAS CANCELLED!!!!! They should have more time to work on it!

Maybe Fox have a marketing reason for the delay. Maybe the 17th of Nov is the release date for several other major DVDs, and they decided there would be too much competition? Or it could be that Fox just suck?

Futurama doesn't need to worry about competition! I don't think you buy a £40 dvd boxset on a whim anyway do you? We all want it, desperately, we're gagging for it. I want it now. Us brits without sky/cable aren't even getting season 4, I've seen none of it. It's killing me!

But I think it's not the same people who work on the DVD sets as on the show (S4 being a notable exception, as DXC was involved)? So that point is kind of irrelevant.

EXCELLENT, UNEXPECTED, COOL, AND...UH...GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!
I've seen the trailer for Futurama Season 4, I know what all of the packaging looks like too. How? Well i'll tell you.
Anyone in the UK who bought The Sunday Times newspaper today will have got a free CD Rom called The Month. It's quite a good disk really with previews reviews and other info on many of the months film and music releases. I was realy suprised to see a feature on the Futurama Season 4 DVD, but it's there. Sadly, I think the disk is only available for one day a month. So unless you got the Sunday Times today, bad luck.

The trailer is done in the same style as the Season 3 trailer with Zap narrating.

I don't know why i'm bothering to do this but, here's a runthrough of the trailer...

After the 30th Century Fox logo, you see the shot from the Why of Fry with Fry looking out the window of the nibblonian ship as it passes by the camera.
Zap says "The training is over"
Fry: Ok let go through this once more from the staaaaaaaa(he is sucked out of the air lock)

Zap: The final mission is here. And only one thing can save the universe!

Fry: Sorry what, I wasn't paying attention.

The theme music kicks in. And the packaging rotates on the screen just like with the other trailers. The background colour looks like it's been made more purple than black (but that could just be because the image quality is a bit off?)
Each side of the box has a character on it. Fry is floating around with change coming out of his pockets, Leela is upside down, and you've all probaly seen the Bender one by now.

Zap: It's the Futurama Season 4 boxset on DVD and Video!

Bender: (falls to the ground and crashes, he gets up) "Ta-da!"

Then a bunch of clips flash by from pretty much every episode.

Zap: 18 episodes of adventure and romance that will delight, seduce and disgust you!

Unda unda: Mmmm sounds interesting.

Zap then talks about the extras as clips of them are shown.

Proffessor: Bonk! Bonk I say!

Zap: It's the final season of Futurama!

Gold Bender: Ah this is awful.

Zap: So complete your collection today, own Futurama season 4 on DVD and Video!

The season 4 package spins around again and then moves to the side of the screen as the other 3 sets appear in a line.

Bender: Alright closure!

Anyway I thought some of you might like to know.  :)

We did get the Sunday Times today, so after reading this I decided to take a look at the CD-ROM.

The first time I tried it it got as far as the menu screen then totally crashed.  :(

Now the computer keeps reading the CD as an Audio CD.

We got a crap copy of that CD too: the trailer wouldn't even play! I had to drag the status bar along to see the trailer and make do without the sound.  Also, that awful Stereophonics loop they used in the menu sounded like it'd been remixed by Aphex Twin.  :hmpf:
