I will vote for David X - his nerdness is amazingly funny!

Though when john and Billy do them together it is good.

I think David X has to get it for sheer longevity. He's theonly one to do all of the commentaries, and he's always interesting.

Thats said, Maurice LaMarche's shatner impression on Amazon Women is the best moment ever on a dvd commentary. FACT!

um matt groenig does as well. except on one season 4 when he leaves at the beginning to make a phone call, but matt david are executive producers so of course they do, matt lets david talk more since he's more involved as matt has to spend time on simpsons and other things

I think the best commentaries are the ones that feature both John Dimagio and Billy West at the same time.  If I must choose one, I'd say Dimagio, but Billy's Nixon impression is funny stuff!

I re-watched (listened) to the commentary for Luck Of The Fryrish yesterday and there's a part where JD I think along with somebody else starts singing "Nobody cares, nobody cares" in relation to something somebody else said....it's hell funny.... :laff:

Also on a few other commentaries, there's times when they go off-topic and start talking about totally irrelevant things....then somebody says "So what's this episode about....?" Already halfway through it....

I love that  :laff:

Yeah, that "Nobody cares" bit was when young Phillip pulls the Breakfast Club soundtrack from the vault.

John DiMaggio: I got to work with Anthony Michael Hall on a film. He's fun. Nice guy!
Billy West: (singing) Nobody cares, nobody cares... (John DiMaggio joins in)

John then sings it again when he tells everyone the classic story of when he saw Simple Minds at Radio City Music Hall as a kid. What a guy.  :D

I'd have to say it's a tie between Billy West and DXC. I love Billy's voice and Mr. Cohen makes some great observations. I think I relate more to DXC because he's just as much a TV, etc... nerd as most of us on this board are.

Well, seeing as this thread's been resurected I may as wll say my favourite parts in the commentaries. Most of them have already been stated but the guess the Zoidberg comp. and John and Billy singing as Bender and Fry during the credits of Pharoah to Remember were hilarious. Also, when David rang Matt during Future Stock. Funny stuff. Favourite commentators: 3 way tie between DiMaggio, West and Cohen. Sorry I can't be more original.

In PYHOMS....

David Cohen - "So Ken (Keeler) any inspiration for this episode....?"

Ken Keeler "No...."

Best response ever....  :laff:

I watched TLOTF at the weekend, it has the best commentary on it I've heard, espicially the 'internet' comments from David x.

I say the best I've ever heard cos I don't remember the rest. straight off.

After reading through some of this thread I've noticed that many people think that Matt Groening is the worst commentator. In a way, I disagree. I mean, he's not as informative as David Cohen, but he does offer some useful bits of knowledge and makes some pretty funny comments. I liked his question in the commentary for "Put Your Head on My Shoulder":

Matt Groening: What's the Harvard comedy writers' obsession with Abe Lincoln?

As you may or may not recall, he asks this question again when Ken Keeler mentions that he thinks that the word underpants is 20% funnier then the word underwear.
All I'm trying to say is that Matt Groening does make some good comments.
Speaking of underwear, I love it when Susie Deiter starts this conversation in the commentary for "The Honking":

Ken Keeler: Once again proving my theory that the word 'underpants' is 20% funnier than the word 'underwear'.

Susie Dieter: What about panties?

Ken Keeler: What are panties?

Susie Dieter: Well, how funny are panties?

Ken Keeler: What are panties?

Rich Moore: Ken doesn't know what panties are.

Matt Groening: Panties are not funny, panties are arousing.

Laughs

Matt Groening: Extra large panties are funny.

I can't believe I just typed that, but anyway, that also may prove to some of you that Groening makes some funny comments.
On another note, Susie Dietter and Ken Keeler are two of my other favorite commentators that aren't regulars.

He also does the Brain. I love that little line he does on the "The Why Of Fry" commentary:

Lamarche: "Iam in this episode, because I play the Brain."
Cohen: "Ofcourse, you're the Brain."
West: "Do that voice.. do that creepy voice."
Lamarche: "You mean the Brain?"
West: "Yeah, the creepy voice."
Lamarche: "Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? .. Oh, wrong Brain."

The panties line is a classic.

Speaking of Keeler's theory that the word underpants is 20% funnier than the word underwear (he's right, you know), made methink of this segment from "Futurestock":

Fry: "Miss Johnson, could you bring in some more chair fuel?"
Dimaggio: "Hey, is ... is gas funnider than fuel? "Bring in more chair gas"."
Cohen: "Yep, we blew it."
Dimaggio: "I just thought of that. I would have pitched it. I would have pitched it."
Cohen: "That's the writers fault."
MacNeille: "Gas--"
Cohen: "Aaron, defend yourself."
Westbrook: "There's no defense for a failure---" (Note, Jeff Westbrook sits in for Aaron Ehasz in this commentary)
MacNeille: ""Gas" is always funny."
Dimaggio: ""Gas is--- "Chair gas"! ... "Fuel" is funny but "gas"!
West: "Allright Rain Man, I get it, I get it."  :laff:

Also, the episode with the "guess the Zoidberg" cracked me up.

Just started watching the S3 commentaries here in the USofA, and Tress MacNeille was hilarious in TDTESS.

Also very much liked the DiMaggio/West chorus of "NOBODY CARES!" after John DiMaggio's comments on Luck of the Fryrish, I think it was.

Having gotten the S3 DVDs, I can say that Maurice LaMarche is great, as is his Shatner impression ("I don't say sabotawge. You say "sabotawge"; I say sabotahge.  :laff: ), as is Tress MacNeille, but I'm going to have to go against my previous comments in this thread and say that Ken Keeler is my favorite. There's a certain quality to his voice that just sounds so... happy.    :)

This isn't in a commentary but on the animatic for AOI2, there's a scene at the start of "Raiders of the lost arcade" with Zoidberg saying how hungry he is....it's hilarious if you haven't seen it.... :laff:

Also Rich Moore's voice is cool....

I'm digging Billy West lately. I remember him being lame in season one, but he's cool in season 2 and 3. Maybe he just needed a fellow voice actor to play off of, or something.

I still say David X. is the best, though. I would possibly vote for Ken Keeler, if a.) he were on this poll, and b.) he were on more episodes.

A vote for Ken Keeler. He should be in the poll.

I really like the fact that he's trying to make logical sense of the insanity of the future.

IE: whether the Globetrotters are another race or if they colonized a planet. Really funny stuff.

Some surprisingly good commentary in Where The Buggalo Roam, especially Billy's explanation of where he got the inspiration for the Native Martian Chief. Also, the discussion of where the Buggalo are native to, and the obvious indifference of most of the other people there for the commentary.

I am a big fan of the commentary for The Luck of the Fryrish, especially the bit about the professor's joke when the race ends. "No fair! You changed the outcome by measuring it"

(not verbatim)
Cohen: "No one got that. It's probably the only joke about uncertainty principle in the history of television. Or, you know, really anywhere, ever."
