We're in this situation because the Wooden Bender and URL series sold so poorly.

I happen to like those figures, actually...my least favorite was Nudar but that's because I didn't care much for the character.

Actually Nudar is one of my favorite figures to this day.

Wooden Bender is too cheap and tiny, and URL's head falls off some what easily.

Nacirema I share your sadness towards morbo but dude if we don't all get on board with this kickstart idea robot mafia will never make the light of day

i'm sorry, but i'm not sold ona hope, whim, amd prayer. i actually think it more of a slap in the face. like waking up to cinnamon bun inscents and there's no cinnamon buns.

i'll agree. i love the articulation of nudar. second only to fry.

they should all be as articulated as possible.

Nah, you're describing the situation of the past two years, when Toynami's been stringing us along, dangling cool toys in front of us but giving us no opportunity to make them a reality.

Kickstarter is a whole new ball game, as once it's launched it will mean that Toynami has finally shut up and laid out a concrete path for us to put our money on (at little risk to us).

It'd be like if the Cinnabunz shop said the kitchen was closed, but if you and your friends can commit to buying a full batch then we'll make it just for you. Now it's up to us to step up.

Being cynical is understandable, I still feel the same way, but after sticking around for two years on a whim and asking for this Kickstarter, I sure as hell am going to support it!

I will not buy into it for one figure.

period.

I mean, if I was given the option to give 'em, say... $400..and that without a doubt solidifies me getting lurr, morbo, flexo, clamps, joey mousepad and don bot; here's my money.

but just ones not enough. sorry. not sold on it. i need a guarantee that i'm getting actual product and not just a scam. so i'm still doubtful. they'll probably relase more benders. and yall can hate on me all you want. I have all the figures. most of you don't.

But that's what Kickstarter is!  :p You pledge the money and if the project reaches the goal, you get your figure. And if it doesn't reach its goal, you get your money back.

At the end of the day, it's not much different than giving BBTS or any other online store money for a preorder, which sometimes fall through then you get your money back.

Anyway man, if you're not into that's cool, but can't say I understand the hesitation over Kickstarter. I'm glad Toynami finally listened and is giving this a shot.

The eBay seller that I suspect to be Toynami has listed Destructor/Bender:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Futurama-Destructor-with-Gender-Bender-Limited-Ed-2013-SDCC-Exclusive-/321176684641?pt=TV_Movie_Character_Toys_US&hash=item4ac79f4861

Still plenty of them for less money though at Big Bad Toy Store...

you just answered the question.

I need a GUARANTEE. its that simple.

and easily much, its been displayed for two years....and we're just now gonna get it? if even at all. things been canned and now all of a sudden its back? give me a fcuking break.

i'm all for it, jaba, but they'd make money without it. its obviously a last ditch effort on toynamis part to see if releasing figures is even worth their time. i'm over toynami. MAC had a better figure anyways. hence why the frys are exactly the same. and all they (MAC) had to do was shift the stance of leela and that's on point too. just sayin. also the accessories were better..the holophone was cool on toynamis part. but the cryo chamber,  suicide booth n alien planet displays are kick ass. toynami doesn't do anything. its a real let down, considering they have the molds.

and lets not even get started on how toynami conveniently 'lost' the zoidberg molds. I know they troll ebay and amazon and all those sites. they know how much he's worth. glad I got him while he was cheap. the robot devils by far my favorite figure aside from my real golden bender and not just a painted one. tho, props to those who've painted as the pics I've seen are pretty good. even tho he's the MAC bender and not the shorter toynami one.

I love Nudar, BBS was a great film and it was nice to have a character figure that represented those films.

Plus, he was one of the most well made figures.

URL/Wooden Bender kinda sucked. When we didn't have Lrrr and Morbo they were just really stupid figures to release and I'm not surprised that they didn't sell well.

I would have loved toynami to make nudars sidekicks (fleb and schlump) ina two pack.

i'm still astounded that they haven't released a two pack general run of characters. other than the exclusives...you may, or may not, consider the first two lines build a bots a kinda two pack. i'm still, and will always, love the idea jaba (maybe) had for the heads ina jar idea. i love my robot nixon. an entire lets say 9 head display would look awesome. they could do the star trek crew that would sell immediately.

Guys, The Hypnotoad is ENORMOUS.

http://simonwoodside.com/system/attachments/872/original/futurama_cast.jpg?1245566693

You can see him here, near the centre on the left slightly. Go to Calculon at the front and diagonally left 5 characters.

His head is about the size of Morbo's.

Based on this picture, the "Tineez" one is perfect.

If Toynami is not going to produce these figures I wish FOX, or whoever owns the licensing rights, would just sell them to another manufacturer who is actually interested in making this line.

I wonder what happened with MAC, Dark Horse, and Rocket USA? They were putting out such cool stuff. It really seems like Toynami and KidRobot have some serious exclusivity right now...

Agreed, the toad is as big as a Great Dane at least.
And this is the first and only Tineez that fits the six inch line and I think it looks show accurate compared with the other Tineez and the Kidrobot Toad.
For only 20 bucks I am totally sold on it. It's selling for big money elsewhere now.

And Snips remember, other companies may not want the brand to make toys they may feel there is no longer a market for, b/c hence no new episodes for the brand.. highly suggests this in a down economy.

Anyway, I see the SW 24 Inch Bender, Talking Robot Devil, and Hypnotoad are all sold out now on BBTS.

So then again, perhaps another company could be talked into it.
Good luck.

they sold, along with the molds, to toynami.

urks me cuz leela wasn't as off as toynamis version. she was articulated in the arms n legs. she just had weirdly angled hips. so she doesn't stand well.

I prefer the Toynami Leela. The overall look is better, even if it's not that articulated.

It still looks awesome on my shelf.

I still love the heads in jar idea too. The Nixon head is so cool and it's sad that we only have the one.

My idea was to do up a box set of heads, say eight or ten sold in a two-row rack to display them in. Could have had a fan vote to help come up with which heads to make.

After having got into the Kidrobot figures, now I think the heads in jars would make a perfect size toy for selling individually in little boxes as a store countertop display.

Not a fan of blind boxes, but if you could sell them cheap enough with a wide enough variety of heads to pull in as wide an audience as possible, I could see that working.

I also don't get why Toynami never made a box set of the Star Trek cast (Welshie!). That seemed like an automatic money maker, pulling in Trek and Futurama fans alike.

More box sets of figures would have been good. While some shake their head at Nudar or Wooden Bender (I like them both!), I think the super friends were a mistake.

It took up three limited slots in this line early on, with three variants that to my mind didn't have much appeal individually. That would have been better off as a three-pack set.

Though they have more appeal individually, if we ever manage to get there, the Robot Mafia really should be a three-pack set as well (and give Donbot a hat and coat!  :p).

The problem with a Star Trek head jar box set is that they'd probably need to get a license for Star Trek

I'm not really sure of any heads that they could release without having to license the celebrity.

I wouldn't mind Lucy Liu, Hawking and some other heads that had episodes based on them.

I'm sure they'd need to get Paramount to sign off on a Trek tie-in, but ought to be doable. Some company was able to get George Lucas to sign off on Family Guy / Star Wars toys.

As for the heads, I don't know what the deal be on merchandising. Presumably, the actors and celebrities signed off on something to be in the show and maybe it already covered it.

If not, don't know that it'd be hard to get. Otherwise, could start with easier ones like Matt Groening, historical figures, etc. I'd think some guys like Al Gore would just be chuffed to have a toy made of them.

i think the hermes head in a jar would be good since the already have the mold. yet i cant really see the head in the jars selling by there own considering how tiny they are, nixon was reasonable because he came on a podium with zapp but selling 3/4 inch size heads individually doesn't seem like it would be very likely to happen. Sure they would be cheaper to make but probably a lot harder to sell than the figures. I want the head in the jars just as much as anyone here but I think as far as the state of the line goes for now its not likely. Hopefully if the line picks back up we will see more figures that come with head in a jars.

Original destructor

New destructor

As for the design their pretty much the same, Im gonna see if I can sell my new destructor in the original ones box :)
