I think b/c it is a toy line that's aimed at adults (but is really for the anyone, any age, that buys toys) the term "Gender Bender" was deemed too offensive for a toy.

You mean the figures that come in boxes that say "14+", "for the adult collector" and "not for children..."?

Wouldn't think having "Gender Bender" written would be a problem, as the Rocket USA toy version of the character had it.

Wondered if it could be cost-cutting, but checked with the wife who does manufacturing in China and she says the cost difference would be negligible (if just printed, not embossed).

So who knows, maybe Toynami is more shy about "gender bender". Or maybe it's a factory oversight, as sometimes things get lost in communication with the supplier. Or maybe it will be there and the oversight is just on the promo picture. (Maybe Otto will tell us?)

We shall see. In the end of the day, I'll just be happy if I can get my hands on this set, though if "Gender Bender" is written, it would be icing on the cake.

I meant toys are (almost) always aimed at kids b/c they buy the most toys.
It says that on the box to show adults who the demographic is, but most parents don't care.
Most older people don't really know what Futurama is.. but their kids do.
And most adults don't buy toys just for themselves... they just buy for the kids.

It was just a guess about that.
It was probably just a test shot anyway.
Wait and see.

It's a toy that won't come out for a year(s).. at least, so everyone chil.

Well, Rocket USA (I think that's who it was) had no problem with the Gender Bender windup. Clearly the world has become too PC in the last ten years!

Actually Futurama is aimed moreso at adults. Especially since its renewal.

If they don't print "Gender Bender" on the figure, they won't be able to put it on the box either, surely?  Destructor & 'Bender in Tutu variant' won't sell.

I'd say it'll appear both on the box and on the figure.  If it was that offensive, that episode would be R rated, which it ain't, so case closed!

If Toynami had half a brain they would release that Lrrr and Morbo in addition to the scheduled releases this year.  I've often wondered too if Camelot on ebay had ties to Toynami.  He has an endless supply of tineez series 1 and destructors.  Am I the only one clamering for a hedonism bot?!

Yeah. I'm absolutely desperate for Lrrr, he has such an awesome design and his figure looked amazing.

Hedonism bot would be great, but he's not at the top of my list. Personally, I'd rather see some the following made:

Slurms Mckenzie, Sal, Scruffy, Ben, Cubert, Yancy (with Seymour), Grey (poacher from the Spanish Fry episode), Alcazar, The Werecar, Bigfoot, Hanukkah Zombie, 80s guy, Hyperchicken and the Water Emperor.

I'd also love a Hypnotoad accessory.

Great list.  Slurms, Sal and Scruffy would all be great Toynami additions.  Seems like Headonism bot would make a super easy build a bot if they make their way back to doing that.

As much as I wish it weren't, this is clearly fake for 3 reasons.

1. the reflection of the figure on the plastic is of the red Zoidberg.

2. Toynami never uses the lower right hand corner circle to simply write the character's name. This is where they put that a figure is exclusive or includes a Build-A-Bot piece. If neither of those apply, such as this one, then the circle typically isn't on the packaging.

3. Blue Mating Season Zoidberg?

But they're right. There was never a blue mating zoidberg with his thing on top.

You could totally paint one though if so inclined. I saw someone painted a regular Kidrobot Bender golden and sold it online. Pretty neat idea!

I don't like the chances of a new figure showing up, in fact I hope it doesn't. Theoretically we'll get a new release date for the Destructor/Gender Bender pack. Probably something new that's unwanted, unexpected or both. More hats? Tineez series 1 version 3? Bender Binoculars?

Toynami will be at the 2013 NYC Toyfair (Feb. 11th-13th), booth/room 4B3.

Most exciting is that is lists that Futurama toys will be there!!

But will it just be more lame plush and tineez, find out!?

I live in NYC and try to get in to the Toyfair every year. It's really tough if you don't work in the industry though. Luckily I have a friend who does and he promised to send me the Toynami Booth pictures as soon as he gets there. I will be sure to share them here.
