PEE Poll: What do you think of Toynami?
I love them and collect them all.
I really like them and have some.
I like them, but I don't have any.
I don't really care for them.
I'm just here for the free food.

Hats?  Hats?  We don't need no stinkin' hats!

I can see a sweatshop in Korea with a hundred old ladies furiously knitting away for Wave 1 of these ridiculous looking hats!  I agree with Quolnok, a brain slug would have been cool.  I can't abide these at all.

Although I still wish I hadn't sold my collection, part of me is glad I did (and not just coz i needed the money to prevent me ending up a penniless lobster) as Toynami seem to be going in crazy directions at the moment.  We've been waiting years for Morbo and Lrr, let alone Gender Bender and Destructor and the Mafia.  And then they release hats!

MAIN LINE
Lrrr's cape isn't sculpted to look attached.... Seriously, look at the clasps and tell me I'm not going nutters; the clasps and actual cape are nowhere near touching.

PLUSH
Still shit-tastic as far as I'm concerned. Kif is cute at least.

TINEEZ
LAME. Rehashes are stupid and you should feel stupid if you buy them. (actually, not really. But maybe kinda)

TALKERS
I'm interested to see where this goes but I won't hold my breath on a release of any sort any time soon/ at all.

HATS
Nibbler looks wonderful (he always does for some reason), Bender is.... alright I suppose. Fan-made hats have looked more accurate. Won't buy them most likely unless Nibbler is available/I look cute in the thing.

SHOGUN WARRIORS
Two feet tall? Damn, and it's anime Bender too? Quite the tempting figure!

Or anywhere for that matter.

That Robot Devil looks huge, I don't think it's the same size as the normal line.
Yeah, on closer inspection you're right. Also, according to these guys the stand is only there for the trade show.

I think the main things to note from this display is which ones don't have that little "pending licensor approval" label; Destructor/Gender Bender, Morbo & Lrrr (the last two of which have illegible prices), the new tineez (which also appear in a box, indicating a release soon) and the hats.

I'm sticking to just the main line for now.

I might have to get the two foot tall bender.

I wish they'd hurry up and release these figures, always with the waiting.

When it comes to the figures, when I see them for preorder, I'll believe it.

So nothing new here, except maybe that anime Bender, which looks like it might be in scale with the figure line. But what's the basis for this figure, does it have anything to do with any episode?

The two-foot Bender is cool, though I can't say that I'd get him, but who knows.

Talking Robot Devil should be in the same scale as Talking Bender.

Anyway, at least there are still signs of life in Toynami and this line, but wake me up when there is actually something to pre-order.

At this point, I just want Morbo and Lrr in my hands, before I consider buying anything else from Toynami. Though I might bite on a retail version of Destructor if that comes out first.

Its supposed to be. I think some shrinkage has occurred. Or it was just put on a little wrong. I sculpted it to touch the clasps, but that was a while ago.

The anime bender is from the last episode from this past year. I'm not sure if he's gonna be in the 6in scale or blown up to shogun status. I dont know but I'm pretty depressed that the Robot Mafia are out of the mix. Those were my personal favorites. :(

All that hard work for nothing... But why go to all the expense of putting them into pre-production and making full prototypes if they are never going to hit the shelves?

Looks like the major retailer you spoke of before has deprived us all

Also the hats are cool but cheesy. Hate to see these take priority over the figures but am deffo getting one for my baby boy :)

I suppose that means you never get to keep anything you sculpt for yourself.... what a bummer! And the whole Lrrr cape ordeal I do not fault on you. It's a wonderfully sculpted representation of Lrrr (as are all the Toynami figures) but it seems as if someone at the factory did not put the cape on quite right. Or it shrunk in the wash. :laff: Totally gotta be it.

Though I'm really not one to have hope in this line anymore, maybe the Robot Mafia figures aren't dead.

It's possible that they're just not on the near-term horizon as Toynami tries to sort out Destructor, Morbo and Lrrr first, so they didn't display them.

Wishful thinking maybe, but who knows. If there's any life in this line beyond what we see here, you'd have to think Robot Mafia would be first up since the prototypes are all done.

But that's a big "if", as the line seems to be running on fumes at the moment.

Hey, a question...what's the significance of Morbo and Lrrr now being "vinyl"? What are the figures normally made of and what's the difference?

Yeah, it's not too concerning that the Mafia aren't there. Toyfair is aimed at retailers and trying to convince some more of them to stock your new products, the main line things they did show have been in the public queue  longer than the mafia so they're working on getting them out this year, and will probably show the mafia again at Comic-Con. Toyfair's shelves also seem to be less cluttered than Comic-Con's, where the idea is to get everyone really excited and uploading photos.

Hey, a question...what's the significance of Morbo and Lrrr now being "vinyl"? What are the figures normally made of and what's the difference?

Vinyl means it's made out of the stuff the Kidrobot figures were made from instead of the usual plastic. I'd say it probably means these two will be cheaper to make and buy, and will be lighter due to being hollow. This might also make them more attractive to retail outlets. There are prices printed on their labels that say "look, they aren't too expensive now" (I think it says $12.50 on Morbo). This may have effected Lrrr's cape or it might just be another case like Destructor's backward torso last year.

Dear toynami: im to my wits end with your company. Youve been showing me and everyone else lurr and morbo for over a year now
..and still nothing. Why dont you just give up.

Its obvious that were not getting anything new anytime soon. So im giving you six months..180 days longer to give us product or else im giving up on your company forever.

Its a shame that there are die hard futurama fans thatve been waiting patiently for a new figure other than a reissuse or repained version of bender..i never thought id think this but ima give up on your sh!t business if you don't produce something soon.

Thanks for the explanation Quolnok. Well if they look like the prototypes then I don't mind, as we've had lighter figures like Calculon. I just want to get Morbo and Lrrr.

I share your frustration Nacirema, and frankly my interest in this line has gone from fervent to tepid. In the year and a half (!) since we've had any new figures, I've moved on to other stuff.

The way I look at it is the line is dead in the water and if/when anything else does show up take it as a positive surprise. Until there's news, best to just forget about it, lest it drive you mad.

Personally, I'm really just hoping for Morbo and Lrrr. Beyond that, I'd probably get Destructor since it seems like the first thing that'll come up. But whether I hang around for the Robot Mafia, who knows.

Would also like a Scruffy, as would everyone, but that's pie in the sky at this point.

The BIG difference between Vinyl and Plastic Injection would be the initial mold costs. Plastic have milled metal block molds and Vinyl have thin copper molds.  The molds for Vinyl production are about three times cheaper than the injection molds. So its a lot less money up front to get the product made.  But, the cost per unit for a plastic figure is quite a bit less than a vinyl cast.  But overall its just a lot less money to get the product off the ground.

Also, I do know that the prices you are seeing are wholesale prices for retailers and definitely not the final retail price.

I would love to have a Scruffy too. I might just do him in my own time.

I was looking forward to series 2 Tineez so much, but these repaints are a big let down. :( doubt many people will buy them, which could mean the end of the line. :/ They should have sprinkled them in between new figures. who needs 3 Benders, 2 Zoidbergs, & 2 Robot Devils where there are no other characters?

I still have hopes for Robot Mafia, since the signage behind the merch has the Robot Mafia characters.

There will be a Tineez Series 2 with three all new characters.  I was hoping to have them done for Toyfair, but there were some last minute changes needed and i didnt have time between the giant Bender and the Super Merchandise Robot Bender (which is only a work in progress by the way). The ones that are shown this year are re paints. Alternate Universe Zoidberg, Honey Bee version of the SDCC 2011 Bender, and Robot Devil with his fiddle instead of the pitchfork. Its been dubbed Series 1.2 I believe.  But I am finishing a series 2!!

I think the biggest problem is that once you get past the main core of characters, the popularity just isnt there for the secondary characters.  As far as retailers are concerned at least.  But its possible that it could be a marketing problem as well.  I dont know, I'm just a worker monkey....

Robot Devil is insanely popular though, so much so that he's only 1 of 2 (the other being Bender) to get a talking figure.

Interesting that Series 1 Tineez did not do any humanoid characters...will this trend continue? Reasons they might do that? Too close to the KidRobot line perhaps?

And wow, thanks for the insider info SculptBoy! :)

For anyone who missed it, the following is from Toynami's Facebook page:

"To Our Customers,
We apologize for the severe delay we have encountered in manufacturing the Destructor figure but would also like to thank you all for your orders. As mentioned, we encountered a very serious production delay which could not be overlooked. Our commitment to producing quality figures, especially in the case of our Comic Con exclusives, made correcting this issue critical.
We have b...een successful in moving forward with this item despite the delay and frustration caused to not only our customers but to our company as well. At present, we estimate that you should be receiving this figure in mid March.
Please accept our heartfelt apologies and understand that there were serious issues beyond our control that made producing this figure at the originally specified date, impossible. To do so would have left our customers with a product that would not have lived up to Toynami's strict standards of development. Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we work to bring this item to you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
The Toynami Staff"
