Well but you got the replacements in the mail for the limited version, right?

You know what I did while I was waiting for the replacement cards in the mail? I printed out the sheet of the replacement cards that USAopoly had linked to initially. So when I pulled one of those non directive cards, I pulled out the paper sheet in its protective sleeve and went by that Win win!

I just bought Futurama Monopoly from eBay, brand new from a shop that posts worldwide. £56.47 including postage, and they will write "Game - $12" on the package so that I don't get charged import duty... Overall I knew I'd end up paying through the nose to get this, but I simply just had to have it. I really enjoy Monopoly even though I don't own a version of it myself, until now that is! I haven't been paying much attention to this whole limited version talk further up. I'm just getting the standard version as far as I'm aware... Anyways, I can't wait until it arrives! ...

Is Series 1 Fry REALLY that rare? If so maybe I need to rebox mine instead of having him posed on my shelf next to Leela where he sometimes faceplants because I toss my laptop on the same shelf and it's heavy and makes the shelf vibrate... For how many times he's fallen though he looks as good as new so I'm not overly worried about him breaking. I'm sure the huffy ultra nerds would faint that I even unboxed him (AND I've played with poses. He's a really well-made figure) but IDGaF~
I did a quick bay scan, and nothing...wow. Then checked Amazon (usually a bit pricer than e-bay): www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000V73EY6/ref=mp_s_a_11?m=A39YB3XM3L7PCQ&qid=1330675074&sr=8-11Seriously? I don't remember him ever jumping that high. Glad I got mine for fifteen bucks at Hot Topic...I was just starting to get into the merch and they only had it because it was a return...

At the end of the day, yes it's a rip, but it's Futurama Monopoly! Do you want it or not? For me the answer was yes, enough that I'll pay the rape postage charge as long as I can guarantee that I won't also get charged import duty. Where there's a will there's a way...
As for old Futurama merch getting so expensive, I'm quite shocked that this is happening. I mean, really, there's that much demand for old Futurama merch? Maybe I better have a look at some of my stuff again to see what it's worth now. I'm not selling it regardless though, but it could prove an interesting endeavour...

I think with the revival of the show on Comedy Central the last few years, the old "classic" merch has really gone up.

Luckily because I am anal, I retained all tags on my animal collections, some pieces are going like the Fry figure - original retail for me was 20, with the tag I see them for 200. It's crazy what actually increases in value, you never know!
I'd never be able to sell the monopolies, I already opened my Limited Edition one and plan on opening the regular version to switch out the money when I play it again.

$50 is cheap compared to what I paid. Granted no bricks and mortar store sells it here, but you gotta do what you gotta do...

I played it, I mean, it's just like playing any other version of Monopoly...just robots and mutants, heh. I actually played it using the special rules that came in the Star Trek one...I don't know why every monopoly doesn't have those. Those rules are cool. You get to do something extra if you roll doubles. For example, double 2's means you get 200 dollars. Double 6's means you can destroy an opponent's ship (or house in the regular game). Double 4's and 5's means you draw a card from community chest/ chance cards, double 1's means you can pick an opponent's place they own and roll for it (you roll higher you take control). Stuff like that.
I see this message and I ask you if someone can put here the exact special rules of this version. Thank you very much (excuse my bad english, it's not my native language).

I just ordered the regular edition from eBay, completely new. I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality. I had read that the game had three faulty chance-cards (cards that lacked instructions, for example "collect 100 Dollars"), and that if often happened that a token was missing. Fortunately, I don't have any of these issues. The chance cards are all fine, so I guess I got the "fixed" edition, and all the tokens were included. Also ordered USAopoly's Yahtzee Futurama edition, and I'm equally happy with it. It's nice that the Bender head stores everything, even the score-papers. Much handier than the other Yahtzee set I had, where the shaker only stores the dice. I decided to collect all Futurama "games", as I wanted some collector's items that are also of use, not things that will always stay untouched on the shelf. There are only 4 such games: Monopoly and Yahtzee, and also regular playing cards (I regard it as a game...), and the Liar's Dice game, which also has nice packaging (Slurm Cans). I found the playing cards on eBay quite easily, but the Liar's Dice set is almost impossible to find. I was lucky enough that Magmux wants to sell his copy to me

There is also a single Slurm can with playing cards (one deck instead of two) and, of course, the video games on XBOX and PS2. Then, I think, your collection would be complete.

I've had the Futurama Xbox game for years I know about the Slurm can with playing cards, but I don't see why I'd need it. The playing cards in that can are exactly the same as the playing cards in the tin can with Bender's head on it. And the Slurm can is exactly the same as the 4 Slurm cans in Liar's Dice. Basically I'd just have 3 sets of the same deck of playing cards instead of 2, and 5 Slurm cans instead of 4... Heck, if I really wanted to, I could just put one of the 2 decks of playing cards into one of the Slurm cans of liar's dice Seriously though, it's not worth it to pay over 40 bucks (that's what it would cost me, including shipping from USA to Europe), for a simple deck of playing cards I already have 2 copies of, and a simple fake can I already have 4 copies of. It's not like I'll leave any of these items in mint condition, as I'm really going to use them. I threw away the Yahtzee box after taking out the contents and put everything in the Bender head, just as I'll throw away the cardboard in which the Slurm Cans of Liar's Dice are put together. I'll put the 4 cans on my shelf separately, looks much better No need to put a fifth can with some more playing cards next to them. Why would cards even come in a can? The cans make a lot of sense to use as shakers for Liar's Dice, but I don't see why anyone would store playing cards in one...

I'm not very educated in collecting in this area, but wouldn't sets with documented defects (faulty chance-cards, etc.) be considered more rare and fetch a higher value?

I guess so, although I don't think people will pay much extra money for a few cards that lack a couple of words. The cards are all packed into the game and don't really stand out or anything. I remember a videogame that said "Revelaitons" on the box, instead of "Revelations". That error stands out and therefore is worth more money. Don't know about faulty chance cards though... But I could be wrong. Anyway, to check if you have faulty chance cards, you need to open the box, so then it's not in mint condition anymore either.

As far as I remember, ALL Monopoly sets were produced with faulty cards. Then the game was sold out! Then you were able to download replacement cards to print them out or to ask for official replacement cards that were sent to you.
As it seems, the game is now available again, so I think the current production run contains the corrected variants. I would guess that almost half of all games contain the wrong cards and the other half the new ones. Therefore I don't see a difference in the collectors value.
Ah, one information for Friender: There are two variants of Monopoly. The pre-order version had a slightly different box (back side) and one more token (Leelas Boot) and the Bender token was golden!
I was surprised that my chance cards were fine, I actually thought they stopped production of this Monopoly set. But since I'm not interested in the faulty cards, I'm happy with it. I know about the golden Bender, but it's not something I'm particularly interested in, as I'm not a hardcore collector or anything. Also, I think it's a shame Bender won that pre-order contest, since he's the only token that makes more sense in silver than gold... I would've preferred a gold Hypnotoad instead, especially because he's already kinda yellowish. All glory to the Hypnotoad!

I got both versions of it, AFAIK it was the pre-order version that had the mistake, but now you're making me doubt myself. I'll have to check.

I read somewhere that the pre-order version had the mistakes, and that USAopoly then claimed the regular versions would be fixed. But people were still finding faulty cards in the regular edition as well.
