MAC - Moore Action Collectables. circa 2000.

they did a pack with tower records which was fry, bender, leela and the planet express ship. they also did a nibbler 8 inch figure. two exclusives the original chef bender (for diamond comics.) and a swimsuit leela (toyfare). 6 carded figures in all, discounting the collect-a-pac where you could get all the figures minus the two exclusives.

they also did two variants of christmas tree ornaments. one that was just the plain crew (fry, leela, and bender) andone with them dressed as santas.  those catch a huge bargin on ebay.

Ah. I only starting collecting the stuff when Series 2 of the Toynamis came out (hence why I found Fry but not Zoidberg). This was shortly after I got a job and hence had the income to supplement my spending urges, instead of you know, actually saving for a future lol :)

i got into toynamis figures after the first two waves.

fortunetly i found a zoidberg on amazon for ten bucks and a fry for twenty.  right before they became the 'must have' figures they are today.

i only recently bought the MAC figures, about three years ago.  i can't seem to get myself to buy the nubbler one, it's far to expensive for me.  i eventually will get it someday when i have 150 bucks to blow.

but as for now, toynamis releasing some awesome figures, so i'ma keep up with them as long as they release figures i will buy them. even if they're variants of existing figures.  but i'm optimistic they'll start doing other characters. not to bash on them bt the variants are getting old. it's been five seasons and four movies into futurama they have alot of characters to chose from.

like jaba, i want some more heads in jars. and if they do exclusives for comic con, they need to go with the two figure concept they did with then alternate universe figures last year. it's always a blast getting two for the price of one.

robotsanta, here are some MAC vs Toynami pics...

From TMNT Toys' reviews of Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3.

And here's one of my pics of Toynami Bender vs Golden Bender (Toynami repaint of MAC Bender).

like i said, they should have used the more articulated mold for leela.

never noticed that bender was bigger tho, until i put them together.

funny thing is MAC doesn't even exist anymore, haha.

@futuramafanboy: they're three different blobs. one with the professor, one with fry, and one with bender. i think they're made by darkhorse. i was gonna try to cop them but like you said, they're expensive. and really imo not worth it.

MAC Fry's skin tone is better, I think. MAC Leela has a better facial sculpt and hair color, perhaps. Otherise, I prefer Toynami.

i just got them because A. they were the first futurama figures, and B. planet express ship.

never knew they'd be worth what they are now tho. but i'm not in it for the moneys.

If you're in it for the moneys, it's no fun! I always buy extras, but I never buy a figure I don't want for myself, and by gosh, I take it out of the package! :D

Being in it for the money is lame.  I would only ever sell if I was in an extreme financial pickle, and 10-15 years from now, when Futurama reaches Family Guy or even Simpsons-esque levels of animation domination (as it rightfully should), that series 1 zoidberg or robot devil BAF will fetch ridiculous prices, as long as its in good condition, whether you took it out of the box or not.  So, might as well enjoy the figures.

also... surprised I didn't put this together before, but The Silence of the Clamps is the most anticipated and first episode coming out in june, and series 10 is clamps and joey mousepad.  I bet that wasn't a coincidence.

even out of the box, Zoidberg is going for $125.00. all Zoidberg sellers should be given the clamps!

i'm not in it for the money. i could care less how much the figures are worth.

i'm in it because futurama is my favorite show of all time, and because i got fry and bender tattooed on my body til death.

and zoidberg is the most anticipated figure of them all, glad i didn't have to pay an outragious price for him. it's sad that toynami hasn't re released him. alot of people don't have him because of the price factor. that and he comes with the robot devil head. they should just suck it up and release the robot devil pieces to us all.

if i had an extra Zoidberg sitting around, i certainly would not feel right about selling a piece of plastic for $200-$300.
maybe because im one of the few to not go out of my way to rip people off and take all of their hard earned cash as much as possible.

You mean... almost everything is what you need to complete your collection? :D Haha. Same for me.

Zoidberg doesn't sell for that much. Most people put these items up for eBay bidding, not Buy It Now, and the bidding drives the price up, not the seller.

I'm a capitalist. I don't go out of my way to rip people off. I'd never sell something broken or intentionally gloss over a problem. I have no trouble with refunds if I make a mistake. But if someone wants to pay that much for it, I'm not going to say no! It's like a designer handbag. It's not worth that much to me, so I don't buy it! If it isn't worth that much to you, you don't need to buy it.

It's not like it's food. Sheesh! It's just a really awesome toy.

EDIT: I do NOT have an extra Zoidberg sitting around. I was speaking hypothetically. If I had an extra Zoidberg sitting around, you'd bet I'd sell it for a *reasonable* price to Randi. Because I like her and know she'd love it. And I know she's not going to resell it to someone for a bajillion dollars.

Zoidberg does sell for that much. ever look it up on non-eBay sites? for example, someone is wanting $350 on Amazon. last i checked, there isnt any bidding on that site

i've an extra blue zoidberg that just sits in a nike shoe box.

i got it for free, somehow.  i bought it off ebay and the seller sent me my money back via paypal, but a week later i got it in the mail.

what slays me, is the exclusives are cheaper than the actual run of zoidberg.  and the mating season and parabox ones are limited to 2,000 units each.

I'd love to know what the production runs are on the regular figures. Maybe Otto could give us a hint...

The biggest issue I had with the MAC figures was the paint application.  It seems chunky and not too high quality.  Toynami improved on what MAC did and that got me on board at wave one.

I like the paint so much better on the Toynami line. Although in saying that there is still the issue with Toynami Leela's hair. It is simply the wrong shade! MAC Leela and Toynami's Clobberella are much more true to the show. Also may I just add, looking at Jabalong's pictures and in my male opinion - MAC Leela is much better for a few obvious reasons!!   :flirt:

Right on.  Maybe I've been lucky with the ones I've bought, because I have no real issues with Toynami's paint apps.  I feel it captures that cartoon look!  I will say that I have Fry from series one and the re-issue Fry and that the re-issue Fry has better paint application than the series one.  It's smoother and cleaner.

I'm not sure how I prefer Leela, MAC or Toynami.  I'm leaning towards Toynami.  The hair color irritated me at first, but now I don't think it's that bad; they did get it right with Clobberella, so if they re-issue Leela, we should get the right color.  It was odd that she didn't have as much articulation since Fry kept his from MAC.  Buuut I do think that all those cut joints on Leela hurt the sculpt a bit.  I would have liked Toynami Leela to have cut elbows and maybe something near the boot to help her stand better.  On the shelf though, I think the clean look of not a bunch of arm joints looks better, yet I'd be happy to pose her more.  Elbow joints can add so much!

my MAC frys are perfect.

my leelas have some blotches, but other than that all my MAC figures are painted as good or better than the toynami ones.

i'ma keep my fingers crossed for more articulated figures in the future..and possibly a swimsuit leela. we can only hope.

A new post in the old BAF poll thread, got me thinking.

Looking at the results of that poll, with the announcements of Donbot (2nd) and Destructor (3rd), we're getting two of our top three robot vote getters. Now we just need the top choice, Hedonism Bot.

If Toynami were to say do a Series 12 of Hedonism Bot and Scruffy, they could knock off what seem to be two of the outstanding fan favourites (hint, hint Otto).

 :p

PS: futuramafanboy, I'd be down for a Robot 1-X. I think he's small enough that he could be an accessory to another figure and come with a transparent stand to let him float a few inches off the ground. But what figure could he go with?

Doh, you just beat me to it anteater, was editing my reply. Yeah, Robot 1-X would been an obvious accessory to go with Wooden Bender. So how about if it were to come with another character from Obsoletely Fabulous. Here are some other characters that had their debuts in that episode:

Sinclair 2K

Cartridge Unit

with his own accessory character, Cymbal-Banging Monkey

Lisa

Nannybot 1.0

Robot 1-X

In a perfect world, Robot 1-X would come with Nannybot 1.0 (and terrified baby!), both from Roboticon 3000, while Sinclair 2K, Cartridge Unit (with Cymbal-Banging Monkey) and Lisa would make a nice obsolete robot island three-pack.

I wish Toynami would do multi-figure packs, as it would be a great way to get characters we’re unlikely to get otherwise, while freeing up room in the regular series for other standalone characters.

If I had to pick just one, I like the look of Sinclair 2K I think.

sorry, i'm on top of things, i'd probably like lisa, the wheel through her middle would be cool.

unfortunately nacirema is right, it'll never happen.  our best bets at secondary characters are ones that make multiple appearances.  I would say robot 1-x would make a similar sized figure to hypnotoad, and i'd much rather have hypnotoad.  Maybe he will come with Morbo, since they are both on TV.  here's hoping...

i'ma put my money on the next series being scruffy and smitty.

i'm highly anticipating the robot mafia. and hopefully toynami has them out and not delayed like every other series has been in the past.

i don't think we'll have that many characters other than nudar that haven't been in a couple episodes already.

elzar would be an awesome addition as he's in quite a few episodes. i'm sure they'll release a linda to compliment morbo.

if they never release scruffy i will be highly ashamed of toynami. he's a pivitol character. tho not really seen in alot of episodes he's a member of the crew.

I would like those two too.  I would also like Elzar.  I would think Elzar would be a tad more likely just because Scruffy and Smitty are both boring HUMANS.  :)
I mean their species of human is boring, not their characters.  I think Elzar is more interesting looking.  I do hope we see Elzar, Scruffy and Smitty.  I could live without a Linda, but URL will look lonely with no Smitty.
I'd like Elzar to come with that pepper weasel!
