Bad news, everyone!
When asked when Toynami will be releasing the robot mafia figures their reply was "No plans for now =("
http://www.facebook.com/Toynami/posts/163975500346429
Oh man, this doesn't sound good at all. If it weren't for all the great prototypes shown at recent conventions, I'd think for sure that this line was dying, if not dead already. I've seen a lot of frustrating madness when it comes to toy lines biting the dust, but if this one dies with great figures like Morbo, Lrrr, Robot Mafia, etc, still on the table, it will take the cake! Fingers crossed this won't be the case though...

"Some clarification looks to be in order on FUTURAMA and our plans for the property. Recently, a comment from us was left on a post here that, while not inaccurate, didn't quite tell the whole story. Last year, we received a large order from a major retailer for the most recent three assortments of action figures, as well as two future assortments. With that in mind, we went ahead with development on the Robot Mafia assortments. Unfortunately, an internal change at the retailer in question prompted the cancellation of that order, leaving the Robot Mafia without a home, and us with an unexpectedly large inventory of recent assortments, produced in anticipation of that order. We're currently exploring all options that would allow us to get the Robot Mafia on the shelves. When we know more, we'll make an announcement." From Toynami's Facebook

From Toynami's Facebook Thanks for posting this. It's good to hear more from Toynami, though it just seems to get more confusing. So they got an order and made more than they would have otherwise, but now that's canceled and they're trying to figure out how they're going to push out all this product? But wouldn't it make sense to just start selling it through the usual channels and see how it goes? I don't know. I still think a Robot Mafia box set would be the best way to sell these. But this still doesn't explain where Morbo and Lrrr are in all this. These prototypes have been ready for well over a year, long before the Robot Mafia. So what's taken so long to get these out? It just seems like Toynami's lost the plot on the figures, maybe in part because of things out of their control. But clearly the plushies and tyneez have also killed the focus on this line. It probably isn't easy running a toyline, but it doesn't mean we have to be happy either. With messages to Toynami's Facebook page showing some pull, I'd urge anyone who cares about this line to get on to Toynami's Facebook page, let them know you care, that you want to buy this product and keep the pressure up. This may or may not be a 'save the line' moment, but either way it sure wouldn't hurt to make some noise for this line.

I had URL, the Professor, Calculon and Roberto... I think I only have Calculon now... No coins... And I may have the Professor, but I know I don't have his lab coat, just the figure.

Hello. I've been a fan of the series since the first episode but I never knew that these figures existed until after I stumbled over the Talking Bender at a local shop. Now of course I have to have them all!!! (Or most of them, anyway..) From looking through this thread, some of you have really excellent displays set up, so I'm hoping that mine will compare favorably someday.

Well, I figured that if I was going to collect them that I should start with the more difficult ones to get, as that way everything else should be fairly easy.
What's good for me is that I don't have much interest in oddball variants like "Mating Zoidberg" or "Golden Bender" so I probably won't bother with those unless I stumble over them at some ridiculous bargain price.
What's bad for me is that the Robot Devil is one of my favorite characters from the show so "Encore Fry" just won't do it, I have to have the original.

Well as someone who owns a small company that makes toys... (well, accessory items for Dungeons & Dragons... Close enough) I can understand part of their problems. If they overproduced the most recent wave (URL + Obsolete Bender?) and have a ton of cash tied up in those pieces which are now having to be warehoused, then there may not be a lot of money free to invest in new pieces... Especially if the warehoused product in question is being held by the company that they use to manufacture the toys in the first place. That company is probably not going to be willing to work with Toynami on any new orders until after the books are cleared on the current assortment which may be difficult to do if Toynami has already maxed out the product in the distribution channel. The good news though is that Talking Bender and the Encore figures have still been released so hopefully that means that Toynami is working out the problems.

Waiting for Toynami is like queing to get in to the Central Bureaucracy!
Out of interest, how much would a full set of unopened, boxed figures go for do you think? I have all the build-a-bot versions (no encores), Santa 2 Pack, Alt Fry, Leela and Zoidberg, Mating Season Zoidberg in mint condition. With or without Golden Bender?
I've considering selling them all for financial reasons (though I don't like to). I don't have Golden Bender, but he goes for about $250AUD these days so wonder whether its worth it, if he will significantly increase the value of the collection.
In the end i'll probably just keep them though!
