Looking at my collection recently, I started thinking about humans vs aliens vs bots and how things add up so far in this line.

With all the figures announced through Toy Fair 2011, in terms of distinct characters (as opposed to variants) we’ll have:

7x humans: Fry*, Leela*, Zapp, Amy, Hermes, Farnsworth (* with x4 variants)

6x aliens: Zoidberg*, Kif, Nudar, Nibbler, Morbo, Lrrr (* with x2 variants)

11x bots: Bender*, Devil, Calculon, Santa, URL, Joey, Clamps, Donbot, Flexo, Destructor (* with x6 variants)

Now I love bots with still more I want (Hedonismbot and Kwanzaabot come to mind for instance). But after 2011’s year of the (mostly) bot, I think Toynami needs to shift its focus over to aliens and humans for a bit.

Even a couple of series of aliens would barely catch them up with the bots (not counting variants). Top of my wishlist are Elzar, Slurms, Hypnotoad (makes more sense as a Nixon-like accessory) and H.G. Blob (deluxe surely).

As for more humans, I’m less bothered about the numbers as to me the appeal of the show beyond the Planet Express crew is more about aliens and bots. But Scruffy’s a must, while personally I think Wernstrom’s an important character.

As far as Linda goes, I can't see her standing on her own for sale, nor many of us wanting her to take up a valuable slot in a series.

But I'd be happy to have her to go with Morbo, and really since Morbo is now a "deluxe" figure, why not package Linda in with him?

Once you're going big with presumably a bigger price point, Toynami can throw anything in, so why not another figure? Same goes for Destructor, throw in Gender Bender.

I keep saying it, but I wish Toynami would consider multi-figure sets. Lots of toy lines have them, as they're a great way to get characters made that might otherwise not be.

And presumably they can be good for the company's bottom line too, as allows them to bump up the price a bit more if another figure included. Morbo ought to sell like hot cakes and personally I'd pay a few bucks more to throw in Linda.

I still think they know we all want scruffy the most, and I think their strategy is to delay his release as long as possible to keep the interest in the line up.  I wouldn't be surprised if the last series they release has scruffy in it.

And if that is their strategy, i guess i hope scruffy doesn't come out for awhile, because that would mean the line stays alive longer.

before you know it, jaba, you're going to have to dedicate an entire shelf to futurama. and get rid of the south park figures in the backgroud, haha.

i sincerly hope that toynami doesn't shelf the idea of releasing futurama figures. they just have to many characters to chose from and with the show being ressurected it's gettin the hype it needs.

if they do shelf the idea, i too like ant would like to see scruffy delayed aslong as possible. but if they do decided to shelf it, we need that pivitol charater. and toynamis known for saying they'll release figures and delay the release dates. i don't think any of the figures i've pre-ordered have actually been released when they were slotted for release.  the only ones you can depend on are the comic con exclusives, and that's because they're so limited in production they can do it llike that.

i'd love for toynami to re-release the i-men, it seems they are nearly impossible to find. i've been trollin ebay for years now and had a chance to get all of them but decided to buy an exclusive instead. kinda kissin myself in the you know what for not copin them when i had the chance.

@jaba: they do need to release more humans. they've flooded us with robots and aliens, and i'd like to see atleast a linda to acompany morbo. maybe a sal since he's been done in the kid robots. and especially a scruffy. maybe it's just me but i'm obsessed with scruffy. 'who are you' 'scruffy, the janitor.' it's be cool to get moms three sons. that'd be a perfect way t start what you've been saying all along, multi figure packs..they've only done one so far with the alternate fry and leela.  i'd buy any futurama figure regaurdless of who it was.

im guessing the toy line will stay alive for at least a few more years to come. especially with the renewal of Futurama and 26 more episodes. so that means 3 more seasons starting this June. if the episodes keep getting better like they did last year, the popularity can only increase. :)

i wouldn't say they got better, infact season 5 is a joke. but back to topic.

wernstrom would be an awesome idea for a figure.

1. Scruffy
2. Cubert & Dwight *
3. Slurms & Hypnotad *
4. Elzar
5. Robot 1-X & Gunther *

i am thinking these would be excellent 2-packs

I think the robots are more comfortable being made of plastic than the humans and aliens are. :hmpf:

@apexx. i was refering to that horrid season i just watched on comedy central.  i consider the movies what they are, movies.

@futuramafanboy. you gotta look at it in a business sence, no ones going to buy unknown characters. thats one of the big problems with futurama, with so many characters to choose from it's hard to choose which ones would sell good as a toy.

edit:

with series 10 being joey mouse pad, and clamps.  series 11 being don bot and flexo....are morbo and lurr going to be comic con exclusives?

from what i've heard, they're going to be deluxe figures, sold separately and at a higher price, but not limited to comic con.

that's what I read aswel. morbos probably gonna be 20 bucks, lurr 30 bucks and the talking bender 20 bucks.

I don't mind paying that much for them. it'd be cool if destructor was the exclusive. he'll probably be the most expensive of them all. i'd estimate I've spent atleast a grand on all the figures I've bought including shipping. I've yet to actually buy a figure from a store..as the stores around here never have the ones I don't already have.

the MAC figures cost me 125 bucks total for all six carded. I don't have the boxed version of the swimsuit cuz I have the rarer carded version. but that glorious golden bender was the most I've ever spent on plastic in my life. well worth it tho

Well it's getting close to two months after ToyFair and nine months since SDCC 2011 where we first saw Morbo and Lrrr... Would be nice to actually be able to start pre-ordering some of this stuff.

I guess I'll go back into my hole for another few months.

I hope Toynami isn't waiting for new episodes of Futurama to release their figures!
I was hoping that by mid-summer we'd have Joey, Clamps, talking Bender and Morbo!  I guess that is a tall order.  I hope some stuff is out by June.

i guarantee it'll be ATLEAST august, if not later that we'll see figures. i know i said november, but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

toynami has neve released a figure in time unless it's an exclusive comic con figure.

If that's true then the photographer added in the latest season, the Robot Maniac Fun Collection DVD and the four dicrect-to-dvd films as a bonus. Regardless, it's a phenominal item and something I shall only dream of owning.

Hey guys,

I haven't been following the Toynami series very closely. I've been happy trying to collect the Kidrobot figures.

I just purchased the Volume 5 DVD, and it came with an insert for the toys. The insert features Wooden Bender, and seems to be a very well designed figure. I've always been a fan of downgraded Bender's design, and I'd love to have the figure.

I'm just wondering if someone can recommend an online store where I can get it for the best price. Also, I live in Canada, in case some places won't ship here.

Help me out here, guys: I can understand the value of and attraction to a real animation cel from a favorite show, but what is the attraction of really, really expensive inkjet prints that have no intrinsic value?

e.g.  "Futurama Escape from Bowels of Hellish Delight Price: $249.99"   :O_o:
