Does anyone know if they are releasing second edition comics because I have comic # 1 and there is something different about it. All the others say direct edition, where as this one does not.

Finally got my copy of #51 in the mail yesterday!  I loved the story in it!  The best comic book of the year since #49!  Better than #50.   This comic would've made a better episode about the Omicrons than Lrreconcilable Ndndifferences ever would!   Loved how Fry and Bender competed against each other to see who's the better chef for Lrrr!  Futurama comics have been really great this year!  And season six as well!  Futurama fandom just keeps getting better and better!  Really fun story, I highly recommend it for any fan! 5/5!

I liked it, thought it was a good story (and maybe better than Lrreconciable etc), but I think I preferred #50 by a fair margin.

#49 was my favorite. First one I ever read. Anybody know when 52 comes out? I want my blacklight poster! Also, what's with all the Bondage on the covers?

I want to buy mylar sleeves for my Futurama comics. Can anyone help me, because I'm confused with the different sizes in dimensions and thickness? I'll buy from ebay so any links for the correct sleeves would be appreciated.

Edit: Are these ok? http://cgi.ebay.com/50-CURRENT-SIZE-MYLAR-COMIC-BOOK-BAGS-SLEEVES-2-MIL-/300344694288?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45edf05610

I'd say that will fit. Futurama is the current standard comic height + width.

They're still employing Mike Kazaleh?
Well that's it, Futurama comics are officially forever in the shitter.

And the comic covers are still as uninspired as ever.

Kazaleh seems to be doing more Simpsons work these days, which is even worse than his Futurama stuff. I found his stuff in #51 to be slightly above average, but I'd put that down to Mike Rote's inks (for some reason Andrew Pepoy's inks just seem to magnify the problems with Kazaleh's pencils, while Rote seems to clean up the drawings as he goes).

Though I'm curious as to what the heck happened in panel 1 of page 30 in issue #51 - why is there a female version of Kif standing in the room with no explanation, and is never seen again after that? It's as if Kazaleh drew Kif on accident, then realised Inez refers to Kif being in the next room, so out of laziness and not wanting to erase it and redraw the panel, he adds a few lines and voila!, Kif is no more. It would also explain why Inez is staring directly at this... thing... while delivering the line. Sloppy, sloppy work.

All of the comics are printed with two different barcodes, one that says "direct edition" and one that doesn't - generally (though not always), the "direct edition" comics are the ones sold in comic book stores, while the others are sold in supermarkets, news stands, etc. Both printings are identical and are from the same date, it's just the barcodes that are different.

Yeah, it did seem better than normal. I'd say the "female version of Kif" was actually Glab in the wrong uniform. But the amount of times Kazaleh has done uniforms wrong...

Correction; the uniform problem here is purely colour. My apologies to Kazaleh as in this case, the blame is in fact on Nathan Hamill.

you know, when Futurama #1 came out, it was the first time I ever bought a comic book. ever since, ive been subscribing to all Futurama, Simpsons, Star Wars, and a few other franchises. I blame Bongo for my massive collection now. And I can count how many months Ive been collecting comic books by taking the newest Futurama issue & multiplying x 2. :p

Received my comic delivery early this week (since when does Australia Post deliver on a Saturday?) it's in the in pile for later reading, but I have checked and Rogers wrote two stories again. The main one "Ro-Botox!" is drawn by Kazaleh, but the Zapp mini comic, "Purple Tentacle Tour", is a Delaney. Poster is the "Robot Santa's Little Helpers" cover art.

Well, the art was Kazaleh standard,  slightly below average story.

The Zapp mini's story however was above average and had Delaney quality art.

Got my copy of issue #52 today!  Story was really funny!  Bender's plastic surgery had me in stitches!  And the ending was awesome!  And I even cried tears of joy thinking how great Futurama has been this year, comics and new episodes.  And cried tears of joy of how good Futurama fandom has been to me!

And I just know it will be even better next year!   Here's my ratings for the comics:

Issue #47:  10/10
Issue #48:   8/10
Issue #49:   10/10
Issue #50:   7/10
Issue #51:  10/10
Issue #52:  9/10

Here's a synopsis I found for issue #54 on Infosphere.  Looks and sounds dumb!

Do androids dream of one-eyed, mutant, space pilots? And after dreaming about them, are they willing to sell those space pilots on the interplanetary black market as pets? And once they sell them, as pets to a distant culture that seeks glory by winning the Westministeria Pet Show, are the space pilots' friends prepared to save said space pilots from being named 'Best of Breed'? Ask no further. All of your silly questions will soon be answered. Also: When Kif Kroker earns a promotion, Zapp Brannigan takes extreme measures to make sure Kif's new command becomes his last patrol!

I hate rescue Leela plots!  It's so out of character.  Hopefully, they'll all get captured.   This is Futurama, not The Super Mario Bros Super Show!

I'm skipping this one.  When it comes out, I'll look through it.  If it's good, I'll get it.  If it's bad, I'll skip it.   As I said before I hope they all get captured and not just one.  This sounds like a plot from a Mario cartoon.

Well, it's not very often that there's bad comic book stories, anyway.  It's not very often that Leela is the victim.  Even good cartoons have their bad episodes and storylines.  Just don't know why Leela seems to be the target of ridicule lately.  Why not Zoidberg get kidnapped by these androids, instead?   Why Leela lately?  Are they trying to turn her into a Princess Toadstool type so Fry can be more heroic?

What I'm hoping happens in this issue is maybe the androids who kidnap her turn her into a celebrity and her fame goes to her head.  I'd be fine with that.  Also, maybe Leela and Nibbler will conspire against them or maybe the androids would make her their queen and she bosses them around.  That would be cool.   Hope she's not in restrains and Fry gets her out of them or anything like that.  As I said before, I'll skim through this, if it's good, I'll get it, if not, I'll skip it.

So what, no black-light poster for you? Surely a fan would get these few issues just for that reason alone. ;)

No. Or at least we were never told they are, but given how out of character the characters are in certain issues I doubt it.

However certain details can be taken as canon if not contradicted elsewhere, such as Hermes' year of birth or Hattie's last name.

Sometimes I've read a comic and then months later thought about a reference to its tv form...but then I realized it never was an episode, only a comic issue. It's bewilderingly awesome.

I will skim through it to see if it's any good.  If not, I'll forget it and wait for a better one.  I told my family and friends about this, and they thought I was nuts and actually yelled at me about it.  My guess is, these androids will make Leela a celebrity and her fame will go to her head, or they'll make her a queen and she'll boss them around.  Call it intuition, I kind of had a feeling that issue #54 wasn't going to be good.  Right now, I want to get issue #53.

Anyway, I feel better about it, now.

Looks like Mad Max, Avatar and Random Western will be getting parodied in this issue. It also looks like we've got a new artist; Boothby's doing two jobs this time. Or it could be a mistake on the solicit.

Issue #53 was awesome!  Bender is perfect for Mad Max!

Do you think the comics are accessible and worth buying for someone who is a Futurama fan but not a huge comic book fan? I don't dislike comics, but I'm not a comic book geek or anything.

Futurama comics are definately worth buying. The first issue I bought was #50 a few months ago. Now I own about the half and looking forward in buying the rest. Also note I also wasn't a "comic book geek". I don't know about other bongo titles or other comic books based on tv shows ( except true blood which sucked imo) but Futurama comics are very close ( if not equal ) to the quality  of the tv series.

I just want to say about Issue #54, this upcoming one, as tough as Leela is written to be, I guess the writers sometimes feel she needs a damsel-in-distress moment.

Even tough women can be overpowered.  Look at Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.  My guess is, they'll all get captured by these androids and as I've said before, maybe they'll make Leela a queen or something like that.  Maybe Fry, Bender, and Leela will all get put in the pet show.

Or maybe the writers are trying to do what Rebirth was originally supposed to be.  The characters getting put in cages and the whatnot.

The one I'm really looking forward to is issue #55!

i like the Zapp Brannigan short stories they have been including lately.
but i am looking forward to them not including the glow in the dark posters anymore. its harder to lay the comic flat and not have to hold on to it when reading it. I dont want to pull out the poster as I prefer to keep my comics mint.
