I believe it's actually a reference to Dane Jeffrey Cook, in the hope that acknowledging him by his full name will finally make him go away forever.

I wonder if they'll actually show Zapp as once being courageous & strong, or show that he's always been a selfish coward.
Of course, if Zapp is telling the story, we're bound to see him being the former.

Is there a specific date for #75, yet?

Got #75, it's pretty neat. The story was really decent, it could have made a great episode, however, it's a little similar to Murder on the Planet Express. There was some really great dialogue in this issue & the artwork/colouring was ace. Great work!

Neat! Lloyd isn't on #76 though, Jason Ho will be penciling that one. Given the sleepiness of everyone pictured and the fact he's listed as the artist, I'd say it's #77. Incidentally, I've just found a better site to grab the solicitations from to copy over to The Infosphere, which has dates on it (including the August solicit from May stating #76 is out 2 September). So here's what to expect on the 18th of November!

It suddenly hit me that #76 was released today so I zoomed onto eBay and ordered a copy. I won't click your spoiler warning until I have read it, Quolnok.

So, according to issue #76, the Professor is responsible for making Zapp the way he is...

Thanks for posting: it reminded me that I need to order the items in my Amazon wish list, which includes a 2016 Futurama calendar! And maybe even another Planet Express shirt I wonder which artists drew this one? [edit] Got it! Not the most inspiring Futurama calendar :-/ But it sure beats *not* having a new one available!

I haven't opened it yet; perhaps he appears in the centre section.

Do my eyes believe me, or is Bender not on that month listing? That guy's usually everywhere.

Centrefold confirmed to be a "Build-a-Bender" feature. #78 coming on the 24th of February. This one could go either way.
Interesting artwork! Plot sounds a bit too similar to "31st Century Fox", but like you said, we'll have to see how it plays out. Ordered my copy of #77 a few days ago, should be here any time soon.

Solicitation for #80 is out and wikified. Expect it on the 24th of August. It's a cross between A Head in the Polls and The Day the Earth Stood Stupid. I don't know what to think, but my gut says maybe. Also, 79 is out. The Kif/Amy plot is okay. The Bender plot saves it. Talking point: there's an ad in this issue saying "something new and exciting is in store for Futurama Comics!" My money is on it being an app, what with the The Simpsons app having just moved onto the other major smart phone store.

I have my copy of #79 on the way. Plot for #80 sounds decent-enough, not too sure about the cover, though.

Bad news. Futurama comics are essentially dead. Next week, issue 82 was due out, however it had since disappeared from the coming soon listings at my local comic shop. The latest issue of Simpsons Comics had an ad declaring that issue 82 was due out in May... as a Futuramaland exclusive. Then, in the back, there was this letter: If I'm honest, Nathan Kane is an idiot. He has ruined Bongo. Art and writing took a nosedive since he came aboard, and under him nearly all the spin-off series have been cancelled. Super Spectacular, Summer Shindig, Winter Wingding, One-Shot Wonders, Bart Simpson and now Futurama are no longer in print. Instead, they focus heavily on reprints via 3-4 different series, however instead of reprinting older content or Futurama comics, they focus on recent materials. They also have put an emphasis on digital publishing, which based on App Store reviews does not seem to have an audience. Such a shame, as I was a true Bongo fan since the very beginning and now they have all but lost me as a customer.

Gonna post here what I posted over on the Futurama Madhouse forum: So, James Lloyd made an Instagram post about a drawing of Fry & Bender in "a comic for friends in France" - but also went on to add:
"Also the last time I'll be drawing even a reasonable facsimile of these laughable lugs in a comic panel (for any forseeable future). Let's call it, shall we? Midnight, June 3rd. But no tears now! It was a fun ride. Thanks to those who came along!"
So, is this a massive indication that Bongo will no longer be making Futurama comics, or do you think they've just decided to hire some different artists to Lloyd?
