Quolnok didn't post the issue #75 cover art yet so I shall take it upon myself to do so:

Did they ever put your name in a comic as one of the robots?

Not as a robot, but here in issue #69:

I checked with Eric Rogers over Twitter if that was it and he confirmed it. :)

I believe it's actually a reference to Dane Jeffrey Cook, in the hope that acknowledging him by his full name will finally make him go away forever.

#76 coming in August. Looks to be a period piece, set back in either the '80s or '90s, depending on how old Zapp is.

I wonder if they'll actually show Zapp as once being courageous & strong, or show that he's always been a selfish coward.

Of course, if Zapp is telling the story, we're bound to see him being the former.

Coming in August, eh? I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I'm subbed to the comic at my local shop, but somehow I missed an issue. I'll have to keep an eye out for the one coming in June as well.

Got #75, it's pretty neat. The story was really decent, it could have made a great episode, however, it's a little similar to Murder on the Planet Express. There was some really great dialogue in this issue & the artwork/colouring was ace. Great work! :)

Little preview of (what I assume is) issue #76, taken from James Lloyd's Facebook page:

Neat!

Lloyd isn't on #76 though, Jason Ho will be penciling that one. Given the sleepiness of everyone pictured and the fact he's listed as the artist, I'd say it's #77.

Incidentally, I've just found a better site to grab the solicitations from to copy over to The Infosphere, which has dates on it (including the August solicit from May stating #76 is out 2 September). So here's what to expect on the 18th of November!

We're actually getting more new issues on September 2nd and November 18th!

Welp, that all confirms that we are actually getting four total issues this year.

Six issues a year was better, but I'll take four.

Turns out Ho was the cover artist, Tone Rodriguez did the interiors.

I wanted to like this issue. I was with it for the Zapp was a good soldier originally concept but

It suddenly hit me that #76 was released today so I zoomed onto eBay and ordered a copy.

I won't click your spoiler warning until I have read it, Quolnok. :)

Thanks for posting: it reminded me that I need to order the items in my Amazon wish list, which includes a 2016 Futurama calendar!  And maybe even another Planet Express shirt :)

I wonder which artists drew this one?

[edit]

Got it!  Not the most inspiring Futurama calendar :-/  But it sure beats *not* having a new one available!

Yeah, that does look kind of boring, but I'll still get one. I'm still haunted by the fact that I missed out on getting a Futurama calendar in 2012.

Although, that year was pretty good overall. Maybe life would start getting better without these cursed Futurama calendars!

#78 coming on the 24th of February. This one could go either way.

#77 is out nowish. I think it's Wednesday in the US, but the comic shops are probably closed still. My local may have unpacked it earlier tonight Australian time, but I didn't swing by to check.

Centrefold confirmed to be a "Build-a-Bender" feature. :)

Interesting artwork! Plot sounds a bit too similar to "31st Century Fox", but like you said, we'll have to see how it plays out.

Ordered my copy of #77 a few days ago, should be here any time soon. :D

#79 has been solicited for the 18th of May. It's funeral time again. Odds are good that Kif will wind up surviving this one too.

I suspect #80 will be a September release again, but we won't know for a few months.

Solicitation for #80 is out and wikified. Expect it on the 24th of August. It's a cross between A Head in the Polls and The Day the Earth Stood Stupid. I don't know what to think, but my gut says maybe.

Also, 79 is out. The Kif/Amy plot is okay. The Bender plot saves it.

Talking point: there's an ad in this issue saying "something new and exciting is in store for Futurama Comics!" My money is on it being an app, what with the The Simpsons app having just moved onto the other major smart phone store.

The Futurama Comics app is out now* and called "Futuramaland".

*Not available in all countries. As a result, I have no idea what it's like. No solicit for #81 or Bongo's November yet, #80 is next week.

Bad news. Futurama comics are essentially dead.

Next week, issue 82 was due out, however it had since disappeared from the coming soon listings at my local comic shop. The latest issue of Simpsons Comics had an ad declaring that issue 82 was due out in May... as a Futuramaland exclusive. Then, in the back, there was this letter:

If I'm honest, Nathan Kane is an idiot. He has ruined Bongo. Art and writing took a nosedive since he came aboard, and under him nearly all the spin-off series have been cancelled. Super Spectacular, Summer Shindig, Winter Wingding, One-Shot Wonders, Bart Simpson and now Futurama are no longer in print. Instead, they focus heavily on reprints via 3-4 different series, however instead of reprinting older content or Futurama comics, they focus on recent materials.

They also have put an emphasis on digital publishing, which based on App Store reviews does not seem to have an audience.

Such a shame, as I was a true Bongo fan since the very beginning and now they have all but lost me as a customer.

Yep, was at the store for this on Thursday. Was confused did some Googling and wandered off.

The best part is that Futuramaland is US exclusive from what I can tell, so my only source is illegal download. Not sure anyone will bother uploading these comics though. Oh well, Futurama is cancelled again.

Futurama Comics 82 is out now on Futuramaland, if you are in the US and have an android or ios device, go get it.

It's also out now on illegal download. From what I can tell, hey have no intention of making it available to us via legal means so... I'll just say it's easy to find and that a .cbr file is basically a fancy .zip file intended to be viewed in a comic reading program, but you can open it with your favourite zip program.

I liked it, a few plot holes and some things that should have a lasting impact, but most issues of Futurama Comics seem to be in their own private universe that ignores and is ignored by all other media, so we won't see it again.

#83 is coming September 20th to Futuramaland and a Google search page the following weekend.

Gonna post here what I posted over on the Futurama Madhouse forum:

Quote from: me
So, James Lloyd made an Instagram post about a drawing of Fry & Bender in "a comic for friends in France" - but also went on to add:

"Also the last time I'll be drawing even a reasonable facsimile of these laughable lugs in a comic panel (for any forseeable future). Let's call it, shall we? Midnight, June 3rd. But no tears now! It was a fun ride. Thanks to those who came along!"

So, is this a massive indication that Bongo will no longer be making Futurama comics, or do you think they've just decided to hire some different artists to Lloyd?
