They're gonna be big too? Dammit. If they continue to come out with larger $50 figures I will be broke. I think I am officially going to count me out of this new line they are doing.

*watch me order a wooden bender next week, dammit. so weak I am -_- *

So some people have already started putting up the 2012 SDCC Exclusives for sale via pre-order. Interesting, the one auction said his eyes pulsate?? I am interested to see what this one will look like if anyone here attends SDCC or pre-orders/buys it from someone online.

BTW did anyone happen to get the Wooden Bender??

I pre-ordered the wooden bender from tfaw.com and they are sending them out next week.  When I get one in my hand I'll let you know how they look.

I just got mine in today. He is a big robit! The details are great. I love the wood pecker detail. Sorry again for the crappy camera phone but here is a size comparison from the different Benders.

That was $50? At that price I thought he'd be the size of a baby cow! :laff: Looks cool, though.

Thanks for sharing the photo with size comparison, smalfri2!

I really hope they make another series.  I also find it shocking that they've put in Sal over Amy, Hermes and the Professor, unless they are saving those three for the next wave.

I am guessing the next wave if they do one, will include Kif, the three I mentioned, Scruffy, Hattie, Hypnotoad, and maybe a few one shot characters like the Countess (hopefully).

Just googled, and this guy came up with some good designs.  http://www.ronyabdou.blogspot.co.uk/

Anyone know if/when the UK retailers such as Forbidden Planet are going to do pre-orders on Hypnotoad? The pulsating eyes sound amazing!

I'm glad to read that the Hypnotoad is NOT SDCC exclusive and will arrive at Kidrobot stores in August. :)
When I look at the pictures on eBay, the box does not show any SDCC logo. So I think there will be no difference to the regular version.

Anybody here who already owns one?

I asked someone to pick me up one if they had extra, but they never got back to me. I wasn't really pushing it because like you, I read it wasn't an exclusive. Yet they are popping up all over ebay as these "exclusives" with list prices of $80 or more (bids are around $50).

You should just buy a sealed set of blind boxes, then you get a nifty display box out of it as well!

Saw a shop in Manchester that had Futurama figures in the window, took a photo of it (I was on a photography trip) then later zoomed in and looked around to spot anything I missed (I glanced) and there's a Wooden Bender in there too! :D Gonna go back and try and get it soon.

Well it is bigger. Looks like that's the route they are going now with this line.

Speaking of which, I have been watching the Hypnotoad auctions online. People are actually bidding them up to $70 or more. I don't understand - are they not aware that it WASN'T an SDCC exclusive and it's being released in August? All the auctions of course do mislist it as an exclusive.

The funny thing is that they now say it is limited to 500 pieces! There is NO word anywhere on the box proving this...

I was just about to comment on that - like where did they get that number from? Perhaps there is an SDCC and regular version and they vary slightly? Though nothing I have read can confirm this...

There's a page at Kidrobot's website showing the Hypnotoad ready for when it goes on sale:

http://www.kidrobot.com/ShopAll/DesignerToys/ArtToys/FuturamaHypnotoad45Inch.html

Usefully they have an automatic currency converter which pegs the price at the moment as £27.09, though it'd be nice if a UK retailer gets a hold of them so I don't have to muck about with with shipping it straight from the USA.

So excited to finally bask in the glory of the Hypnotoad though!

hmmm, instinct says buy buy buy
principles say leave alone as last time i ordered from them kidrobot direct was south park blind boxes which came broken and they wouldn't replace the rare ones I got  like for like as "they don't know which ones are in the blind boxes either"

That thing actually scares me for reasons beyond my comprehension. The proportions scream adorable but it makes me get the urge to run and/or kill it with fire. Possibly multiple times.

Now why does the site say "blind box" for that anyone know? Lol. I mean I know the Kidrobot line is known for that but this one clearly isn't.

Maybe someone was so lazy that they just mindlessly copy/pasted the info from the rest of the line? Or they're so in the groove of putting "blind box" it simply wasn't caught? No matter what, it's kinda humorous.

This is just ridiculous. I was watching it because it was at 29 dollars a few days ago but these can't be real bids. It's elsewhere on ebay for $45 with shipping. I'd be curious to see what happens at the outcome of it lol.

Oh, wow. Quite a bit of cash for that thing... and it STILL creeps me out. It's possible whoever was bidding simply got caught up in it, or had auto-bid sniping or something set up with a large cap on it. Who can really say? I'd guess it was first to be put up, but I'm not going to say that's why for sure. I haven't seen the other bids since its release.

Well I just ordered one for $44.50 with shipping included, I didn't bother to see how much shipping was on Kidrobot website. Seller claimed it was in stock and ready to ship so we'll see.

So this just popped up. Is that legit? Does anyone know about that?

It's very interesting, even if it's not legit. But considering the description coupled with the numerous photos, I bet somehow you could dig up some info on it. To the Google!

Forbidden Planet had something.
something worth noting also
Flickr photo from a Con most likely.

I haven't bought any of the Kidrobot figures. So I was checking some of the pics and noticed that they got Leela's hair color wrong again. First Toynami and now Kidrobot.

Why do they make it more pink instead of purple? Only the Moore Leela figure got it right. Has Kidrobot released different version of Leela since 2009?

Also Kidrobot is straying from their original $10 3-inch figure look to $50 6-inch figures? Of course it's still in the same mini-figure style design. Now Hypnotoad is 4.5 inch, still not in scale with the previous scale of figures. That's understandable, else it would be too small to be in scale with the 3 inch figures.
