mind the bump Got my Futurama 2009 Calendar in the mail. The front cover's different from the one they put out on the internet some time back, but I guess that's the toll of time or there may be different covers in different countries. The new title, "Art Calendar" seemed vague, I thought it was going to be just random art without a common theme like they've done several times before, but the theme of the calendar is Futurama art parodies of famous paintings. Here's the lineup of month images: Personally, I liked the movie parody theme of last year better. I was skeptic at the art theme, but the art team did a great job and drew away my skepticism. Better than the "random art" calendars, but IMO the movie and comic book cover calendars were the best. Still, beats the hell out of the 2009 Simpsons calendar.

Here's the lineup of month images:
Hey KoolMoeDee I took the liberty to use your photo of the calendar and search the real piece of art parodied on each month. It was kinda hard to find some of the arts, but I think is ok now: - January: The Scream
- February: Bond of Union
- March: Lobster Trap and Fish Tail (difficult to figure out)
- April: Whistler's Mother
- May: Double Elvis
- June: Mona Lisa
- July: Watson and the Shark
- August: American Gothic
- September: Blam
- October: The Three Ages of Woman (Fragment: Mother and Son)
- November: Vitruvian Man
- Dicember: The Birth of Venus
I posted the incomplete list at TFP but later, thanks to some people and more research, I found the ones I didn't know... [edit]: The cover resembles the Drowning Girl by Roy Lichtenstein, but I'm not sure if there's another of his pop arts that is more accurate than that one.

It wouldn't surprise me if the cover has something to do with Green Yonder. I think that in general, Futurama has always had a theme that involves Leela, Fry and Bender's relationship, although it is not usually Leela crying over Fry who's crying over Bender who is jealous of Fry and Leela. However you are too late, T-bird. I'm already crazier. I believe the cover is based on Lichtenstein's Thinking of Him. It's a minor point, but it was important to me to find it; I knew I had seen the tear and thought bubble in one of his works. Now I've found it and can go on to other manic pursuits.
