I'm surprised I don't see more build-a-bot parts for sale on eBay and the like. There must be lots of build-a-bots out there waiting to be built with all the loose parts spread around different people's drawers, shoeboxes, etc. I guess people hold on to the parts on the off chance they might one day get the other figures and/or it's not worth the bother to sell the parts for a few bucks.

 :shifty:
I'm a bit surprised too, though I find myself in a similar situation. I have a lot of the figures but don't have enough to complete any of the Build a Bots. (Though I'm very close in some cases)

Plus, I have Encore Fry and Bender (without parts) and all the other pieces to Robot Devil. I don't want the Robot Devil badly enough to break the bank on two figures I really already have.

So I'd be in a situation where I'd want to sell/trade those Robot Devil pieces for pieces of Robot Santa or Roberto Arms since I don't really, really want the New Justice Team figures or Chef Bender.

Problem is, finding people who want specific parts is a bit harder to do, plus pricing those parts is a bit difficult. I mean for example, Robot Devil's head should naturally cost more than Roberto's head since one comes with Zoidberg and one comes with Mom. So that's another complication.

Ya, it's tricky. Maybe what's needed is a build-a-bot parts thread where people list which parts they have and/or which ones they are looking for. Then could see who has what and maybe find a right fit or several (like a three-way trade in sports) to get what you want. That said, I suspect not so many people have parts they are willing to part with as people are probably likely to hoard their parts on the off-chance they eventually complete the figures. But who knows, maybe some people can get lucky via trades.

So I tried my hand at papercraft for the first time ever. I did so in an attempt to create some extra accessories to the Futurama lineup.

I ended up making a decent Parabox on my first attempt, since that's about as simple of a project as you can start out with. However, the scale is a bit off so I'm going to have to make another, and possibly a shelf full after that.

Then I found somehow who created a Boxy (Calculon's partner) papercraft design and that ended up being much more difficult for a total novice. It's together but it looks really sloppy and it's another one that would require it to be scaled down to fit more with the line of figures.

Interesting project though, and I think with more practice I could end up making some cool stuff. I'd really just like to make a Slurm machine, but having looked back at the machine in the show it's got a lot of little angles to it that could prove difficult.

Thanks.

Also, does anyone know for sure if the W. Bender + URL set is going come with BAF- Morbo or what? There seem to be conflicting reports on whether or not that's true.

Last thing I read was that Morbo would be released on his own in a series with Lrrr. There were pics on the internet too. You should be able to find a link in this thread somewhere. But it's all internet hearsay. Toynami hasn't really told us about the future of the line other than showing the figures.

Thanks for the info.

Anyhow, I got bored and took a picture of the parabox, really just wanting to do one picture in particular.

First though, a blurry photo.

That's cool. Would look sweet with a few more of them peppered around the alternate universe figures.

Hah, my eventual goal is to get the Parabox version of Zoidberg, Fry and Leela. Then to get a duplicate of the rest of the characters and do a repaint myself. I know there's GGolden Bender, but I'd prefer to paint a more yellow gold like in the show, rather than a more true to life gold like his figure has.

All that is going to require some time and cash though and I just finally got around to getting the entire line (non-exclusives) thus far.

Does anyone here have the Glorious Golden Bender? I'd love to see a pic with the toynami standard Bender next to him.

Sure, here is a pic of my Golden Bender vs the regular Toynami Bender.

Also found online this pic of the Toynami Bender vs the MAC Bender, on which Golden Bender was based.

Like the MAC one, Golden Bender is slightly bigger, but without the bright sheen. Nevertheless, he works pretty well with the other figures, though I wouldn't be averse to Toynami redoing him at some point based on their own Bender mould.

With some of these figures, it's all degrees of ridiculous expensiveness - from mild to you gotta be @#$% kidding!

I had no idea he was larger than the 'normal' Bender!  I'm not sure I want him anymore!  I've got all the other figures in my collection, including build-a-bots and variants, just no golden bender due to his obscene price and rarity on finding on ebay.  I'm in Australia so delivery usually adds a fair whack as well.

It's a shame not to have it, as its the only one missing, but I am disappointed he's not the right size.  Oh well!   :hmpf:

Has anyone ever tried contacting Toynami directly to get any info on the upcoming lines?  Surely someone there must have an email address!  All this waiting around is killing me!  :O_o:

Actually I wouldn't be put off by Golden Bender's MAC mould. The slight size difference is very slight. I had the same concern initially before I got him, but Golden Bender looks very good on the shelf with the other figures, particularly the alternate universe ones. Check him out in this picture of my figures:

Yup, I've been in touch with Toynami before. Early last year, I emailed them with some questions on the Roberto wave and they got back to me with some answers, which I shared in this thread. Tried emailing them again earlier this year, but didn't get a reply this time around. If anyone else wants to try their luck (ask them for clarification on the whole build-a-figure thing!), their email is inquiries@toynami.com.

Looks like there is no BAF as there doesn't seem to be a balloon on the front touting it and I don't see any parts in the Bender window except for extra eyes...  :hmpf:

...which are the same as the series 2 and Santa Benders' eyes.

There may be something under the 'U', but I doubt it's Morbo parts (if anything).

If there's no BAF, I wonder if the boxes will even mention Morbo and Lrrr, as in the absence of a BAF there would be no reason anymore to promote them as being part of the same wave.

If not, I suppose the next concrete opportunity for information won't be until the New York Toyfair in February (unless they pop up for sale before that on merchant websites).

Anyway, one thing at a time, I'll be glad to get my hands on Bender and URL soon I hope as they both look great.

Disappointing that there's no Morbo, I wanted him more either of those two really.

I'll still probably buy them though since I have everyone else. (minus a few exclusives) Wouldn't make sense to stop at this point.

Other things I think I'm seeing in the picture, in decreasing order of certainty
-Bender's door seems to be openable again
-Looks like We'll be able to swap Wooden's head with those of the other (non-gold) Benders and if so, unlike Chef, Nixon should fit.
-I suspect URL's head is also swappable (but not with Nixon, sadly)
-Does anyone else think URL's helmet will be removable? That is where his exhaust comes from.

Finally got everybody in after a pretty big catching-up buying spree.

The steps they're on are actually a little cabinet organizer you can find for around $8.00 at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Very nifty for displays though.

Well done, looks great. And thanks for the tip ShimSham, I could use something like that.

I see that they also have one that expands to twice the width (15" to 27").

Following on from the conversation last week about emailing Toynami, Gonzo the Grape over at CreatusMaximus just dropped them a line and they apparently responded the next day (kudos to Toynami for the quick response!).

You can go read what he said over there, but basically they're hoping to do more encore figures (so those of you who don't have Zoidberg might want to hold off breaking the bank on the secondary market for now) and that they want the line to continue.

I had the same impression from my exchange with Toynami last year that they were really positive on the line. So if we keep supporting by buying the product, let's hope the ride continues for some time. Looking forward to getting my hands on Wooden Bender and URL, which I preordered this summer.

If anyone's looking (or knows anyone who's looking) to jumpstart a collection, this eBay auction seems like a decent deal - 15 figures (says 16, but that's counting Nixon's head) with a starting bid of $79.99 (like $5.33 a figure). It was previously on offer for $99.99, but no bids. Miss out on most of the BAF parts though.

I'm glad you guys are excited about the URL and Wooden Bender.  I pushed hard to continue the Build-a-Bot series, but I wanted to do a lot of robot characters as regular figures.  Also the Morbo and Lrrr are slated to be released as Deluxe boxed figures due to their size.  Yes Lrrr is huge!! As you all know.  Haha.

I can't give you any dates or anything like that (i'm just the sculptor), but I'm a HUGE fan of the show and I'm really enjoying reading all of your suggestions and inputs!!

Thanks Guys and Girls!

Welcome Otto, it's great to have someone involved with the toys stop by here. With no shortage of cool Futurama characters, you'll find all kinds of great suggestions in this thread for future figures. Kudos on the sculpts, as this line has really captured the likenesses of the characters well and let's hope it keeps going and going.

That's great news about Morbo and Lrrr being "Deluxe" boxed figures, as it opens the door to lots of possibilities. H.G. Blob is another huge character that comes to mind (with a swallowed human inside him!). Or maybe a big bot like Destructor. Or how about some deluxe multi-figure box sets, like Donbot, Joey and Clamps!

All kinds of aliens and bots, so many possibilities - just don't forget everyone's favourite janitor Scruffy.

Drop by any time...

Bender's feet are slightly warped and wont stand up on his own. too bad the hinges in his knees are for decoration only. would be happier if I could adjust them slightly so he could stand up...
URL is awesome tho.
