I think Wooden Bender and URL will be the next wave and that Morbo is the new build-a-figure. He has to be because judging by this picture he wouldn't fit in the box as a regular figure. This would make Morbo the first non build-a-bot but I'm fine with that. We've had a few cool robots but I also dig that we'll get a bigger Morbo this way. For the other two figures in the wave beyond... Elzar (to go with Chef Bender) and Clamps! (to go with the Donbot and Joey Mousepad in the waves after that)

Hey, I'm new here. First post.
Never thought of Morbo being a Comic Con exclusive. I just can't bring myself to think he's the BAF, since the Futurama line is Build-a-Bots. I guess we'll find out eventually.
Regarding jabalong's suggestion, I'd love to see Clamps, Joey, and Donbot, Cubert and Dwight, Scruffy and Lrrr, Leo and Inez. Since they're likely to keep a main character in each wave, I think Bender's Game variants would be cool for a future wave.

Personally, it doesn't bother me if Morbo is the build-a-figure, as we're getting at least one new Bot for sure anyway in URL so it's all good to me.
I really doubt that Morbo is the exclusive, with my money being on a continuation of the alternate universe characters (Hermes, Amy and/or Farnsworth), as they are easy ones to do as convention exclusives.
In terms of why Toynami is being cagey on all this, I suspect they just didn't know themselves in time for ToyFair. The continuation of the line this year was always far from a certainty, so it's quite possible they got a late start on planning for it.
Now which two figures would I like to see added on? Since we're already getting another Bender, I'm going to assume for sake of argument that it won't include another core character variant. So I think I'd like Scruffy and Lrrr or Slurms.
That said, I wouldn't be averse to Elzar, Smitty or Linda to compliment Chef Bender, URL and Morbo (though Linda would have "pegwarmer" written all over her me thinks).
I'm always up for more Bots, with Hedonism Bot and Preacherbot being high on my list for regular figures (along with Kwanzaabot - but I think he'd have to be a build-a-bot as he's probably big).
And Clamps, Joey and Donbot would be great too, though seems hard to see Toynami doing a set of these three if the series are only something like four figures. How about a box set? That would be sweet.

Well, I'll finally be picking up series 8 tomorrow night. Meanwhile, series 9 is now on Big Bag Toystore, confirming Morbo as the build a bot figure. Edit: Got series 8. Bender is pretty much as expected. Roberto is great and easy to assemble unlike the Devil. Mom looks better in the fat suit, especially since mine has a very damaged right shoulder. It was probably from the machines smashing the arm in the wrong way, she also has a large scrape on the right side, slightly lower down. Good thing the fat suit covers it all.

Slurmed has a write-up on this - quoting Quolnok here as the source! Also Toy News International as the source of the pics: These look like pictures from the actual box covers. If so, one wonders if the announcement of the remaining figures (I'm assuming there are others) might come soon as they'd need to be on the box covers as well. Though Toynami could have just dummied up some for these figures and the actual boxes may not be finished yet. But if these figures really are coming by June or July, I'd imagine they'll need to finalize this in the not too distant future.

Since we briefly theorized on what future figures we'd WANT to see, are there any characters that you DON'T want to be made into figures for one reason or another?

Agree with Leela's and/or Amy's parents. They can wait. I think any of the cast of "All My Circuits" could wait (though Boxy would be an AWESOME accessory for someone). I don't think Hedonismbot would be that interesting of a figure. And, as you said, Bender variants need to be put on hold. Unless they do a series of "Bender's Game" variants and we get Titanius Anglesmith with the rest of the fantasy characters, I don't want another Bender.
Side note: I think Destructor would be a perfect Build-A-Bot. He could be HUGE!

I want Boxy but he is not a true "action" figure I would hate a Michelle figure. Other figures that could be made way later are the Sewer Mutants.. There are also very popular minor characters I would love like Clamps, Johnny Mousepad.. and of course the Donbot. Right now with the Morbo build-an-alien, Linda should appear.. even when she is not that popular, but she is Morbo's complement I do think the Hedonismbot could be very funny, but is also a very stiff figure... Destructor or the DonBot could be a great build-a-bot figures.

I'd love to see Toynami consider some Futurama multi-figure box sets.
Mezco had a couple for Family Guy and one for South Park, which is a nice way of getting sets of figures done and increasing the product.
Otherwise, when you're down to four figures a wave as we are now with Futurama, it makes it hard to do a group of figures as they'll end up taking up the whole wave or you'll only end up just doing one/some of them but not all.
So for instance so far we have Mom but no sons, Chef Bender but no Elzar, Morbo but no Linda, URL but no Smitty, etc. Now maybe we'll get some of these, but odds are not all of them. However, these could have all been ideas for multi-figure box sets.
Looking ahead, Donbot, Joey and Clamps would make a great three-figure box set. Likewise you could do a box set of bots from All My Circuits to go with Calculon. Any other ideas for say a two to four figure box set?
Futurama's got so many great-looking robots and aliens that ought to have great shelf appeal to the casual Futurama fan / general scifi figure collector. To my mind, Toynami ought to look for ways to crank up the product and box sets might be an avenue.

Box sets are a fantastic idea. You already nailed the Robot Mafia (who could also come with a Tinny Tim as an accessory?) and All My Circuits.
Mom's Sons - Larry, Walt, Igner Holiday Set- Kwanzaabot, Chanukah Zombie, Robot Santa, maybe introduce a new holiday character Sewer Mutants - Dwayne, Raoul, Vyolet, and "Leggy"
What if they did a "Many Voices Of..." series? Maurice LaMarche - Lrrr, H.G. Blob, Hedonismbot, Hyperchicken John DiMaggio - Sal, Randy, Elzar, Mr. Panucci
etc...

Heads in Jars would be cool, but there's so many of them. And most of them are only in an episode or two and only serve as a background gag.
How about a Globetrotters set? Have Bubblegum Tate, Curly Joe, and Sweet Clyde. Then they could also release a Mutant Atomic Supermen set!

I wouldn't be too bothered about which heads they were, as would just be cool to have a double rack of some like this: That said, here's some that come to mind: Leonard Nimoy (gotta have Spock! other Trek stars cool too), Al Gore (seem to think he's been on a few times - with his special head "costume"), Matt Groenig and David X Cohen (hail the creators). Anyone have a list of all the heads and how many episodes they've appeared. Presumably the heads with the most reappearances would be the ones to do. By the way, while I was looking for pictures of heads, came across this one - South Park's Eric Cartman! Didn't catch that one at the time. Just remembered another box set I suggested a long time ago: the Star Trek cast. If they could swing the licensing, it'd be a huge seller/moneymaker I'm sure with Futurama and Star Trek fans. I want Welshie! Wouldn't be tops on my list of box sets, but I'd be down for some Globetrotters. If so, here's an option for a Bender variant (I know some people have had enough Benders, but as long as the line last more Bender variants are inevitable):

Wow, someone did their homework! I never thought about Gore with his fancy jar. Speaking of him, why not a Vice Presidential Action Rangers set? Have Gore AND Gore's head in a jar (for kicks), Nichelle Nichols, Stephen Hawking, and Gygax (r.i.p.)

We know Morbo is the tallest... that's why he's the BAF. He's too tall to fit inside the boxes, so they abandoned Build-a-Bots (for the time being, at least) to include Morbo. Still cool though.

I don't know... Morbo seems to be all about annihilating the human race. If he had the interest to also annihilate Robot Santa, he may be able to hold his own, but I think Robot Santa might come out on top.
Too bad Celebrity Deathmatch isn't on anymore to pit these two titans of death against each other.

Nice hypothesizing. Like you said, hard to be completely accurate, but I think you got as close as anyone could.
That's also a really cool group shot. I still can't get over how good the figures look compared to their cartoon counterparts.
