Chess Set

Don't know if this has appeared somewhere before- but if you were to design a chess set with the cast, who would you assign to a particular piece? All or a few. I would start with Zapp as the pawn, but that's a personal issue. (Kif too obvious, maybe, and I respect him.)

King= Fry- In that outfit that he wears on the playing card.

Queen= Leela- Ditto.

Bishop= Bender/Flexo- In some sort of Pope Outfit. I say both of them because I think it'd be interesting to have the Bishops be slightly different and that. (Not two whole different characters! Sheesh. Wouldn't that just be confusing?)

Knight= Zapp riding on Felicity. With some sort of cocky grin on his face, of course. OR! Zoidberg riding Fry's sperm. *giggles like a schoolgirl*

Rook= The Planet Express Building would make a very cool one. If they could make it look half-decent...

Pawn= Cubert. 'nuff said.

I think I like Y_L_B's idea the best ... with the exception that Fry should be in his Royal Unisex Robe from "My Three Suns", and Leela in a stunning evening gown. 

One thing that sucks about only having six different piece types is that you have to eliminate a lot of characters.  One option would be to have a different character set for Black, to set up some sort of Good v. Evil thing, such as:

Lrrr and Ndnd as the king and queen

Robot Devil as the bishop

Flying brains as the knight, I guess

Mom as the rook

Perhaps the porno-dealing monster as the pawns, or maybe Ignar, or possibly Melllvar (though that would be difficult to do)

I saw a post from earlier this year with some good ideas, like a Robot side. Esoteric stuff. I have seen other novelty sets that use the idea of themes for each color. Or maybe a mix-and-match so the players can decide at gametime. (Lrrr and Ndnd is too perfect.) Niblonians would make great looking, if inappropriate pawns.

A Good vs. Evil theme would be cool. But the King should definately be the Robot Devil, and Mom should be the Queen.
