With one simple effect, it does have the tendancy to look cheesy, although the wavyness of it fits into that particular scene well. Effects filters require finesse and a fine touch to get right, so keep experimenting. Assuming your using something like Photoshop, experiment with some of the blurs, chalk filters, and things like that. And don't be afraid to use more than one filter, or to experiment with different intensities. I ran the original through a few P.S. Elements filters: All modifications are under the main "Filter" menu in Photoshop Elements. 1. Texture submenu - "patchwork" option. I played with the square size until it looked good (2, I think). Then I picked a relief - 1 or 2 should be good here as well. The relief gives it a little extra dimension; with it set as zero it looks flat (which could be a desired effect). 2. I picked the "glass" option under the Distort submenu, and used the glass blocks setting, and played around with the numbers until I thought it looked like windblown ripples in a pool. 3. Finally, I used the "ocean ripples" option in the Distort submenu, and added a small amount (ripple size 10, and magnitude 1) to fill in the smoother areas and give it an overall ripply look. Viola! Now they are the decor at the bottom of a pool! The most important thing to remember is that I didn't use what first came to mind (although that does sometimes work). The "glass" option didn't come to mind until later - Photoshop filters are often best used when they are misused. Don't be afraid to experiment. Write down what you use, and what values you pick, and always save often. You may end up going back to your first choice, but in the meantime you might discover something that would work perfectly for something else. Also, I don't know if you're using Photoshop or something else. Other programs may have more or less options, and different procedures to use them. Posting your experimentations here is a great way to get new ideas, make improvements, and learn. Keep it up. Oh, by the way, did I mention to keep experimenting?

Wow, FF1! The not experimented picture is awesome! I love the colors you are using and they get better with every picture you draw! The experiment you did is awesome as well! @BF1230: he said that it was his little brother who posted these pictures. It seems that the mods of the contest removed these posts with her pictures. @Spacemonkey: Wow that picture is fantastic. I'm sure Anna will love it!

Nice scan-art Leela's expression is so nice ... it made me write a few lines about it: Please excuse bad spelling and grammar."Who ate Fry's birthday-cake?"Planet Express kitchen: Leela just has eaten a slice of a cake. Not only cake, but a delicious chocolate-cake.*a door opens and Fry enters* Leela: [*surprised*] "It wasn't me ..." Fry: "What?" Leela: Nothing ... [*nervous*] I'm just amazed by this fascinating ceiling. *Fry looks upwards* Fry: Oh! ... [*thrilled*] ... now, since you are saying it ...
