...OK. I didn't say i didn't like the name, i just said it was at the very least the masculine spelling. The thing about my dad wasn't really the important part of my message, that was just me reitterating the masculine spelling part.

The horny part was me pointing out an unintended joke that your Brittish readers could be enjoying without your knowledge.

You asked me for my opinion. If you didn't want it why ask for it? I could have given that exact review to Layla or Berges or Kif White and i doubt they would have gotten as pissy as you do. But they are actually mature enough to handle critizism without throwing a fit. Just so you know, the proper way to handle critisizm is to either explain why you made the choice you did (without talking down to your reviewer) or not respond at all. If all the other fic writers can do it, you can too.

Fair is fair. And do you see anyone besides you giving me a review? No. Only you have ever reviewed any of mine. With the exception of Gorky. And to me, if we're never gonna see eye to eye on this, than why do you review? Why read? Why should I even write if I know that it'll end up like this? I can never win an argument with you. Strictly because you are usually right. But I see that there is no way that you and I will never agree. Because you will always have one more thing to add about my story and I'll always have something to say to retaliate. So what can I say? I'm sorry that it never seems to work.

I read it cause it was highly rated on TLZ. I read pretty much everything that's rated well on TLZ. And the whole point of anyone reviewing anything is to let the author know what they can improve on.

And if i'm 'usually right' why do you argue? If i'm right then accept it, if i'm wrong then correct me in an intelligent adult fashion.

<Hopes this is the right place to post this>

I recently rediscovered "Background Noise" by Dave Vincent at Futurama Madhouse, The Leela Zone, or whatever it's called now.

This is the best-written Futurama fan fic I have ever read. Period.
I have read stories by Kryten, Erdrik, Venus, FemJesse, Gorky, Layla, JBerges, Kif White, and they are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head! I do not mean to detract from their stories one whit. They're good, very good, no question.

"Background Noise" took my breath away. Yes, it's that good.

I could go into detail about "Background Noise" but I couldn't do it justice.

You simply must read it.

But don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself. Here.

if, in the remote chance you don't like it, I'll eat a bug.  :D

Just a bit of trivia: "Background Noise" is the highest rated fanfic we have at FM:TLZ.

Well, except for that Kryten one that for some reason is plastered to the top of the list...

No offense taken, of course, SC.  Background Noise is one of the Futurama-fics that got me into the whole fic thing to begin with. I'm happy just having a cameo in it.  :D

BN is one of my favorites too. That Kryten one is at the top of the list cause it was rated a perfect 10 by someone.

Whoo! I made the list of fanfic writers, go me! Seriously, that is a fantastic story, one of my favorites, but not my absolute favorite. Venus will have to finish her fic before I decide. :)

I should really get back into reading and reviewing BN again actually. Though to be honest, I think it's a tad overrated. No offense to Dave, as it is a very good story, and there's clearly a lot of effort and thought put into it. But there are too many little factors that stop it from being up there amongst the very, VERY best, IMHO. Though I can't really speak for his latest chapters... they could very well be fantastic.

Forget what I said. I've gone to the bathroom, eaten a pop-tart (ok it was meatloaf), had my coke, getting a Gameboy, and sitting my ass on this chair. I am not leaving until I read every page of Layla's stuff. (The gameboy is for when I need a break).

I've only gotten to part 5 of your first thread so I'm gonna be here all night...so it won't be any different from any other night. Interesting story. But I'd rather read it all before I actually say anything.

Oh don't be modest, I'll beat you. But don't get a big head either cause I'll beat you harder,  :p. You have a lovely technique of writing. I love how discriptive you are. The story is interesting. It's compelling, sort of polictal, and meaningful. I always think of African Americans when I read stories about mutants and humans. Anyway, only on part 7, need to keep going.

True there are a few little things not quite right, but IMHO, it's still THE best-written Futurama fan-fic out there. Period.

No offense to you, or any other fic writers intended.

Layla! Got me on my knees! Anyway I was reading page 18 in your old thread and I noticed this from page 14.

Page 14:
Quote
Twelve-year-old Philip J. Fry waited anxiously under the beat up, rusted slide. The first bell had already rang and he had ducked out of sight to avoid the duty teacher. Katy was never this late

Page 18:
Quote
The 10 year old sighed quietly. “I don’t feel like a hero.”

Now unless I was reading two different flash backs I'm pretty sure that that's wrong. You made him 10 instead of 12. Explain that to me please.

:) Seriously, I don't think I got Bergey to beta that for me, so thanks for pointing it out. Glad someone's out there keeping me on my toes. I might suggest that you put comments in my new thread though, so we aren't boring the poor souls out there who were hoping for a fanfic review.  ;)

I read that Kim Possible crossover that fryfan reviewed earlier. Although i generally hate crossovers i have been known to read through one if i get bored enough, depending on what the crossover is. And i do like the Kim Possible show, it's fairly clever.

That said i was not very impressed by the fic. Leela and Kim have a convo about their new relationships and then right after Ron and Fry had a conversation about the same thing...and it was essentially the same conversation. The basic jist of both conversations was " You're with who? Awesome! My situation is exactly the same!" I don't have the attention span to read the same conversation reworded one after the other.

And i still don't see the 'relevance' these characters are evidently supposed to have with each other. They're nothing alike. The only similarities Kim and Leela have are independence and fighting ability.

I can't say anything about the other part of this crossover cause i didn't recognize the other show. I don't know who 'Joan' is supposed to be.

All in all, very 'meh'. Like most crossovers.

I agree with you Venus. In my opinion I've never liked the idea of Ron and Kim becoming a couple and reading them converse it with another couple is boring. I also agree with how Leela and Kim have nothing in common. As neither do Fry or Ron. Ron is a stupid teenager who doesn't have a piece of his own mind. Fry on the other had is an idiot but he is somehow an appealing indevisual (SP? I screwed that up).

How bored were you Venus?

Woah momma.  Get a chat room, you two.

Snide remarks aside, I tried reading the Futurama/Kim Possible/Teen Titans fic when I realized I didn't recognize two thirds of the characters.  That being said, it didn't hold my interest very long and I didn't finish it.  It didn't seem like a bad start, but I just couldn't get into it (I blame my lack of cable).

I also am not a fan of crossovers in general.  Even if it were a Futurama/Law and Order crossover, I would still probably be frosty to the idea.

The reason i think most crossovers don't work is because the 'universes' are too different to be compatible. Futurama/Law and order wouldn't work, Futurama/Kim Possible doesn't work, teen titans/desperate housewives wouldn't work. But a CSI/Law & Order might work, and a 4400/X-Files might work, cause the universes match better.

Edit: Sorry about the tangent Dr. T but i believe that's the first civil conversation me and Spacedal have ever had.

And it was in THIS thread. Believe it or not. But we've had at least one other civil conversation that I can remember.

That makes sense. I mean a Star Wars/Futurama crossover would work (it'd be interesting to read at least) cause they're both Sci-fi. But I don't think everyone understands that. Plus I don't like crossovers because the characters are different and the points of their existents are different. I mean no one on Futurama is a superhero (I said is not was), and they can't really realate to fighting evil bad guys and stuff. Depending on what you cross and how you write it, it might not work. But I avoid crossovers as best as I can.

Sorry about that, Dr. T, but I will admit my fanscripts are for the major fans of all the shows. Fact, I only posted that story here because of the setting in the year 3000, which I was really using as a plot device to set up something a hell of a lot bigger in the 3rd story of the trilogy that crossover was the 2nd story in.

On a side note, I read a little bit of that "One-eyed Jacks" redux you got going, but unless Chapter 1 ends with:
