Hey, I think the watercolor-ness is pretty good. Is the paper smudged or buckled?...Eh, doesn't matter. I really like the third one (although I've seen if before on dA). It's all moody and dark. Most depressing pun ever. :/

Who would have thought that this will happen: Jesse is back. While you were away, things have changed at PEEL. Other things haven't changed: I still have my first art thread (open). I didn't have won PotM yet. Nurdy is still a red robot. Etc. ... Back on topic: Very nice new art ... I just don't like the way you draw Leela's pony-tail. I know: Artistical freedom and what else not, but somehow the ponytail doesn't look right.
Beside of "that": Good artwork. Originally posted by FemJesse: That was intentional... just a testament to my genious mind! Now it is obviously: Jesse the "Queen of Egocentrism" ... ehem, I mean: the "Queen of Selfconfidence" is back!

Everybody knows how I feel about anime, and that's not going to change. So let the anime artists have their glory. Its a different kind of satisfaction than I get. EL is good at what she does. Let her monopolize on that. I have yet to see someone who's jeapordized my hold on the "realism" category. And that is what I'm content with. My real competitor is gone. I don't know if he'll ever be back. One of the most interesting relationships I've ever had, and also one of the shortest... http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/femjesseart/Futurama-TeenLeela.jpg copy and paste into your browser... sunshine.

hey, lookie lookie, Jesse got tired of The Voices, eh ? Cool stuff and looking forward to more (if there is more to come). Originally posted by FemJesse: I'll tell you what I tell everyone. It takes buttloads of patience. You really just have to sit there and plot a scribble... and if you screw up you wind up erasing a whole limb. The drawings take me around two hours usually... larger ones upwards of 4. It doesn't come easily. Hmm... dammit, maybe that's why my drawings suck. It usually takes about a total of 10 minutes or less. Unless I'm really drawing, not cartooning.

Jesse, as much as I admire your realistic work, I think I prefer the cartoon style stuff you do. You're always able to capture a certain sweetness in the facial expressions that always brings a smile to my face.

Originally posted by Pitt Clemens: Yeah, you say that, but every time you draw your "Realistic" Fry, you just end up drawing me. I think think he looks like an older version of fellow fanartist, Brian Hess. http://www.deviantart.com/view/8836962/ Of course it was him who brings it to my attention every time I post a realistic Fry drawing. From the show I just kinda visualize what his face would look like, the nose and eye cavities are probably the most accurate things. Having to give him a chin, I always try to give him a cleff.

You must use it wisely.

I have a question for you, FemJesse: You use Microns, right? How do you get your inking lines so freakin' smooth and not crappy. Mine always turn out uneven and frayed looking.

Thanks darthmonkey and everyone who's "happy" to see me back, though I've never stopped drawing in my life, only temporarily stopped drawing Futurama related work.
Shaucker, that depends on the grade of paper you're using. Regular computer paper tends to bleed all over the place. Sketchbook paper varies. I mostly use my sketchbooks, but when I want really crisp lines, I use coated Epson paper that is intended for printers. If you're going to use Epson paper... I'd recommend that you make some sketches in a book first and work really lightly the good paper. The coating can be scratched if you press too hard with a pencil.
When looking for higher quality skethbook paper, feel the smoothness yourself. If its smooth and white like printer paper, but thick enough not to bleed through (except with sharpie, they bleed through everything) then you've got a good sketchbook. As with everything, look for Acid free so your drawings don't yellow with time.
Edit: Also, gum erasers tend to stick to the coating on Epson paper, so be wary and don't press too hard erasing.
Edit Edit: and actually TV was the one who turned me on to using Epson paper. He usually used larger sizes like A2, then wound up pasting the scan together with a seam.
