You have showed these pictures to me so many times and they still make me go, "Wow."

You sometimes scare me with what you do on the computer. Just remember, use your powers for good, not evil... well, maybe a little bit of evil.

The cell-shaded version of Bender, with the lines in his legs and hands would look just like from the show! Its amazing!!

Hi eyeryone, sorry I didn't make anything new earlier, but I had a really busy summer. Anyway, here's my latest creation, Zoidberg. It was my first ever attempt at character box modeling. Here it is:

As usual, I'd appreciate any feedback.

I'm doing up a Bender and PE Building in 3DS MAX 6.  I've been using the Illustrate! cartoon renderer and is it ever nice.  If you want a peek at what it looks like, I've got some of my pics linked on another thread, feel free to check it out. (Bender is a bit out of proportion which I am in the process of fixing, but at least it'll give you an idea what the Illustrate renderer can do)

Awesome pics!  How long have you been using 3DS MAX?  I just started about 2-3 weeks ago and my Bender model is kinda my guinea pig so I can learn different techniques and such.

Great as always hobo!  :)
When you stopped posting 3D stuff and JBERGES stopped writing, it seemed as if the end was near. But now it's nearly over.
I've got a request, do you think you could do one of Roberto? I think he'd look really great in 3D.

Here he is, complete with his stabbin' knife. He was pretty easy to model, given that he's basically just a bunch of extruded shapes.

And of course, the obligatory cel-shaded version:

Finally, I tried my hand at some desktop backgrounds with Roberto. It's basically just him at a cool angle, so when I say "background", I really just mean "huge picture". anyway, here they are.

1024x768:  http://www.newmango.com/bumsrock/roberto_bg_2.jpg

I'd like more requests. Otherwise I have to think of things myself, and I'm far to lazy to do that.

More requests? How about:
Beezlebot
Human Bender
Calculon
They'd all be pretty challenging and if your previous work is anything to judge by, it'll be the epitome of coolness.

Hooray, I'm a bending unit! To celebrate, I did two very special things. First, I made my first (real) background image.

Larger sizes:
1024x768:  http://www.newmango.com/bumsrock/beach2.jpg
1152x864:  http://www.newmango.com/bumsrock/beach3.jpg

Then, I made an animation of roberto. It's only 70 frames long (a little over 2 seconds), but it uses the cel shader, therefore it looks pretty awesome. It's a pretty big file though, (around 2.5 megabytes) so only go there if you have broadband or a lot of time on your hands.  http://www.newmango.com/bumsrock/roberto_throw.mov

Awesome animation Hobo! It's so well done, especially the knife being thrown and spinning through the air. Did you use 3DS max for that too, or do you have another program?

Huzzah! A bending unit! Tomorrow, we shall feast!

Well... as much as we can in those 30 minutes or so. x_x

I need you people's opinions on what I should do next:
a) make more models
b) make more desktop backgrounds
c) make more animations
d) everything

Gwan: yeah, I used MAX for the animation
Bender-is-Great: I've been using max since last december, and I've only been relativley good at it for a few months.

Hmm...

I would say models. Once you get more models out, the others can kind of follow. You will have more models for more creative backgrounds and you could make more/better/different animations.

I was bored in English today, and being bored led to this-

It only qualifies for my 3D thread because it's supposed to be fry in wireframe (And it's also an excuse to bump my thread).

LEX: I'm going to model fry eventually, but as I said before, box modeling is really hard, not to mention time consuming.

Without further delay, here's what I did over the weekend. No ne models or anything, but I did make Bender look way better. Can you name all the things I did to him? (not including his shininess)

I also took advantage of the fact that I'm currently too lazy to model zoidberg's body. His disembodied head is now in a jar! I haven't thought up a story for why yet, but maybe he got chopped up by a flying shovel.

Expect a robot devil by the end of the week.

Awesome stuff, Hobo.  Keep up the good work.  Didn't get to look at the Roberto animation; it was taking too long to open, despite the fact that I have broadband.  I'll check on that laters.

By the way, have you sent in a resume to Rough Draft yet?    :)

I never wanted to be the 10th guy around here who says WOW or s.th. related... but WOW, great work, awsome... its really good (more then good), although i would recommend more 'emotion' in this scene: I watched it one frame at a time and found out that you moved his body - you should do s.th. like this with his eyes (don't move them, just close them a bit when he aims bender).

Again: THATS GREAT!!!!!!!!

Thanks for commenting, everybody!

Slimmy: I'll cel shade him at some point, but it'll be hard to do because I had some intersecting geometry where there shouldn't be, and the crappy cel shader doesn't like that.

LEX: Thanks for noticing the head movement, It was my attempt at subtle emotion. I'll use the lower eyebrow next time though.

Everyone: Would anyone be willing to write a short, funny fan-fic involving only the robot devil, bender, roberto, and the hobo robot? As you can probably guess, I want to animate it in 3d.

Also, can it involve a scene in downtown New New York? I'm modeling one of the streets.
