Yeah, it is old speculation/rumour but now it is hard to tell, he has no F-team and probably not much advertising. We talked about possible movie in previous threads.

Afroman a pixie from space comes to earth and grants the whole pe crew 1 wish (but not without impact)

Wishes
Fry becomes a fembot
Leela becomes a Ghost
Bender Becomes a teen-robot gazalionair with strict parents
Amy becomes a diamant thief
Zoidberg becomes human but know he can taste and he hates it
Farnsworth want's pe to be de best delivery service in the galaxy but is ambushed with bomb letters
Hermes becomes boss and is stranded with farnsworth and the bom letters
Zapp becomes ghost
Kiff wishes Guts but ends up in prison

Now he has collected enough Negative energy by their unhappyness to grant himself a wish.To be the Dictator of the universe

I don't know about a Simpsons movie. They have had over 300 episodes and the show is still running. What would the movie be about? Haven't they covered everything you could think of in the show?

The Simpsons movie should be used as a 'final' episode. Actually finishing the series at the movie would be a good finale. Go out with a bang!

And productino on the movie won't start until the series is done. So I suppose it will be the big sendoff for The Simpsons.
