I agree that it's a bit of a challenge but that's no reason to run away with your tail between your legs :P These are supposed to be done on the 2nd?  Maybe a couple extra days wouldn't hurt... What do you guys think?

It was my impression that it had to be done by Wednesday, January 28th (or at least Nef didn't contradict me when I asked).

Anyway, I'm mostly done with my 48 megapixel scan, so I'm fine with the current deadline, although I'm not slightly confused as to when that actually is.

There was another framegrab involving characters, but since some of you were satisfied with the improved version of the framegrab, we decide to leave it. But now it's too late to change it, the next time the judges will keep in mind what type of framegrabs you prefer.

Not to mention that this is by far the most time consuming scan I have ever made. Please, judges, the next time choose something along the lines of what Neffy is talking about. I most certainly don't have time for scans of this complexity in the future.

 

Who would chose a frame with so many giant phallic symbols in it?! =P

 

I'm backing out of this contest, the scan's too hard... I'll wait until the possible second one

We (well at least, "I" ) wanted to see mistakes/imperfections,  there's no point picking out the best of 5-10 identical pieces, Time consuming? Agreed. I'll try to cut that down with my next suggestion, if this contest continues.

I have an idea. Next time, you make a scan of the framegrab before representing it for the rest of us. That way you can actually look down at people who think it's too hard. 

Until you do that I'll continue ragging your idea.

I won't participate, because I am too lazy for make a scan like that, I started it, but when I saw the millions of lines I had to do, I could not stand it and quited.

Well both Axl and I have made a scan. That's, like, two people right there!

Out of curiousity, how many people are actually still in this contest? Did everybody give up when they saw Axl's submission or what?

If you agreed to participate, you had to be sure that you'll be up to the challenge. Yes, maybe this framegrab was too difficult (in fact, I know it's too difficult), but all this contests will be a failure if people don't participate because it seems too difficult.
We would had change it, but you people didn't organize and said that we should use the other one. Especially when Axl finished his scan like in 10 hours. Better organization for next time.
And for the record, I did choose a framegrab with characters.

Yes, that was the original idea
On my first post I said that those who agreed to participate, could not step back, but since many people disliked the framgrab some quited the contest and I cannot make them come back, That's why I quited too.
And the problem is not the organization it was just that some people didn't read the rules I said  on my 1st post

Like for Example: A New Thread will be created and all the scans will be posted on it!

And

Scans will be posted 5 days after the judges had posted the framgrab.

Now we now the errors we've made so maybe next time we'll have a better contest,

I'll try to make the scan tomorrow, if I have time, but I can say that the scan will be lame and monotonus.

Sorry for the lack of organization, and that someone else had to get a framegrab to shut Metractor up     , and that the pic I picked was horrifyingly difficult. Remind me to go with my heart and not the little devil on my shoulder for the next one. And by little devil, I mean Rage Dump.

I think (only with Nefnar's blessing, of course, this is his baby) we're going to keep this round going for another day or two. If I have anything to do with it, there WILL be a second round someday soon, with lots of discussion between judges before the pic is posted. Also, Xmpel, we'll probably need you to make another quality grab next time.

OK? I screwed up this time, but it'll be better the next time around. Now quit yer bitchin'. I'm serious, next time Mercatop whines about how much time/disk space this contest has taken, I'm breaking out the guillotine.

For your information, i did have a go. Check in the previous general art thread... it's in there somewhere, and i did it off a freakin' Global Mpeg grab (thus it's suckiness)

You people and your DV-Friggen-D grabs could never understand

I haven't started mine yet, and I don't think I'll ever do. I'm not into serious work, I just wanted to have a little fun, and that scan is fuck*ng hard! (yeh, I know I'm bitchin' but it's true)
So maybe those finish it mail it to: diegoquesada6@hotmail.com, I'll give you 2 days more, when that period has expired, I'll post the pictures in a NEW thread

i'd start the poll, but i'm sure i'd screw something up and be flamed out of existance so i'll let someone else do it =P  Anyway, you'll have to have the names of everyone who's entering (just Mercapto, Axl, and myself?) and i'm thinking it would be nice to get a copy of all the entrie in advance so that they can get posted at the top of the thread (maybe this isn't nessesary since we all seem to be keeping a close eye on the thread...)

Okay, apparently Nefnar has gone AWOL or something.

So in order to get this moving, I suggest that Reprisal and Axl mail me their scans. Then I'll start a poll with all three scans in the first post, so that we can finally get a decision in this contest.

EDIT: I almost forgot: You should probably scale your scans to 640x480 before sending.
