Scan Contest

There are many good scaners here at PEEL, so we can make a contest.

Organization

• There will be contestants that will subscribe to the contest by posting in here saying they want to participate. (those who have said in this thread, that want to participate are the only ones who will)
• There will be a comittee of judges that will elect the framegrab (only the framegrab)

the comittee will be elected like the proccess taken in PotM. (there have to be at least 10 judges, the ones who want to be judges make a post saying: "I want to be judge"
There are certain characteristics needed to be a judge:

• Regular Visitor of FanArt forum, and with that I mean regularity.
• Organized
• Willing to help
• Basic knowledge of graphic programs.

Rules

• After the judges had been elected and the contestants are ready the judges will find a way to communicate and choose a framgrab to be made.

The Framgrab needs to be in an average condition, and not too hard so all of the participants can make it.

• The participants will have 5 days to finish the scan after the framgrab has been posted.
• In the 6th day a thread will be open with a poll within it.

The Poll will say the usernames of the contestants.

• AFTER all the scans had been posted in the thread, the people will choose what they consider the best scan.
  (Scans will be posted in 800x600 pixels)
  
  There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
  
  Please help, make suggestions!
  Also I need to find a name foe the awards.
  
  Ohh! two more things.
  I will participate.
  
  10 days left to subsciption. After that period has expired the thread will be closed.
  This awards can only be made with support!

Sounds fun, though some rules sound a bit strict...nah, I'm in- as a participant I guess.

Yeah, I'll participate too.

Though 800*600 sounds like too big. Many people still have their screen on a 800*600 resolution, the scan would take up their entire screen.

I would offer to be a judge, but I don't I have basic knowledge of graphic programs, I mean, I know a little, but I don't think that's even basic.

Well, maybe I should delete that rule. Not many people that want to be judges know about those kind of programs.

I'll sit this out, since I have other plans, such as writing a new fic and finishing two others, plus I'm more used to doing things off my own back than getting a scan and given 5 days to turn it into something.

I have a question about this contest... Is the goal to make the picture look as good as possible(e.g. with shading n stuff) or as similiar to the original screen as possible?

The first option would definitely be the best in my opinion. Of course the motive would have to come from the framegrab, but if the job is only to make it look as similar to the original as possible, we'll just get a bunch of identical submissions.

Anyway, that's up to Neffy to decide.

Yes you can do whatever you want with your scan, you can use shadows, etc...
But of course it needs to have the original shape of the framegrab, like facial expressions and furniture and all that.

We need many sources to choose a framegrab so it can be the adecuate and fair.
It's better 10 judges to choose the framegrab than only 1 person.

By now if ActionLaPointe participates as judge we would have 4 judges.
We need 6 more.

Also there's one problem, if there are more than 10 participants they won't fit in one poll (because the number of choices on a poll are restricted to 10) so we will need to open another poll, but that would be too disorgized, so I don't know what to do,
any ideas?

well, first, worry about that once we do have all of these participants particiapte. don't worry about that now, i think. worry about picking the frame grab now

But 10 judges would maybe disagree one what frame to use thus making everything much harder. Ezpecially since their only job is to select one frame.

I always thought 3 was the standard for judge-numbers. That way you get a 2-1 split if any, but with an even number of judges?

How about only having max 10 participants? That would work... And maybe we could just have 5 judges.. Uneven and good

The problem is that some people are not yet sure.

And that's not the problem, the problem is that if I make the poll with the name of that contestant and at the end he/she didn't even make the scan it would be a space that could have been used for another person that could have participated.
So I need defnite "yes's"

Well, don't you think they should post the scan first before you make the poll? Spluh.

Nope, my intention is to put the scans in a thread, and within that thread, a poll.

So I need to be sure who will participate so I'll open a thread and a poll within it, with all the names of the contestants.
Then the contestants will start to upload their scans done.

Then when all the scans are done, people will start to vote.
Any better ideas: please post here,

I think you should wait until all the contestents' scans are posted, it's work much easier...
