Question.  Whats a good way to go about doing shading and stuff?

I personally do all my shading with dodge and burn tools. I work out of PhotoShop, and if you're familiar with that then I can say I use a mix of Shadow, Midtone and Highlight for both Burn and Dodge, and I often use fairly low opacity and build up the effect. That and I do only sections at a time. I know it's different for other people, but that's how I do mine  :)

Great stuff everyone BTW.
I'll post some of my new stuff once I get my scanner up and running again.  :)

I find the problem with dodging and bruning is that it does not give yuor the correct light for the highlights and shadows. Depeding the source light the shadows and highlights will be different (for standard yellow light: Highlights are yellow and the shadows are a very dark blue)

For this reason I only use the dodge and burn to add tone to the skin. For shadows I use the brush set to multiply on a low oppacity. For Highlights I set the brush to overlay. I find this yields the best results.

And since examples arealwys useful

It's an old pic and I do now realise that I really should not over do the Gaussian blur.

If you want to see what I eman by diffennrent couloured lights sources click here. http://www.deviantart.com/view/4044820/

Special Request

It's PEEL's Official Gaming Clan's 3rd
Meeting tonight and I was wondering if anyone was willing to do a picture for us.
Baisicly, can you set it outside the shelled out Reichstag where a group of us, either German or Soviet soldiers just having a good laugh. It doesn't have to be done ASAP, but we'd really like something like it.

Anywho:
NibblerJnr: Soviet.
StuartB: Soviet.
Me: Soviet.
M0le: Soviet.
CyberKnight: Soviet.
Gocad: German.
OC: German.
Speli: German.
TheNamesNick: German.

Most of these guys went to the last PEEL meeting in London, and I'm sure if you look around the Battlefield RoN Clan thread, you'll find a crappy picture of me. Thanks.

Lot's of new pictures. All of them great work. Particular Bob Newhart, looks awesome. Props to Yinger and Nefnar too.

And for all you people who shade their pictures; I hate you! Nah, I'm just kidding, you're wonderful people.

There's a reason for that (the white background), I plan to use it in a wallpaper sometime. Together with this one:

and a bunch of others. I guess you can guess now what the theme of the wallpaper will be.  ;)

Leela hitting on people?   :p   ;)

Anyway, another cloolsome scan    You just have to have that scene from "Hell is Other Robots" in, where Leela Kicks the crap out of the crowd. And that scene from "War is the H-Word" where she beats up Zapp...

Nice scans! Yinger I like your Fry!

Didn't have much time to do new scans but here's a new one from me (photoshop rulez!!!):

It's Leela saying "OK, my turn to tell a ghost story!" in "Where the buggalo roam". Notice the edited shirt, just couldn't resist doing it! Nice, eh?

Of course you can also have it as a 1600x1200 wallpaper:

Great stuff people..it all keeps gettin better.
Nefnar-I acctully use a combination of Photoshop & Illustrator..i use Illustrator to trace & Photoshop to color.  I tried using Photoshop to trace once, but for some reason the lines were real jaggy...being the moron I am I couldnt figure out how to fix it so  :)
In any case tho, evreything looks awesome guys.

OK people, I'm doing a huge update for TFH here... if you have any scans/arts of Fry in this, or the last General Art thread, that you don't want on The Fry hole, speak up and speak quickly.

If you don't, i'll assume it's OK or that you're not paying close enough attention to do anything about it.  :)
